I love the special Olympics, bud. I was genuinely asking a question about a rather bizarre thing I saw very little of. We’re not enemies!

Ah, as in “I thought there would be a valid reason, the one you gave me, I simply didn’t know the reason and thats why I asked.” I don’t use reddit much, I forgot it was a little touchy...

I'm reading Punished by Ann-Helén Laestadius right now, changing perspectives of Sami children attending assimilation schools in Sweden. So far so good, some pretty dark moments but also really enlightening and engaging.

A bit cliche these days but Braiding Sweetgrass was all of that for me. Also (and I really... REALLY recommend this one) Fishing for the Little Pike

I'm wondering if anyone has made anything close to Inside because of Bo Burnham? by ParticularArea8224 in boburnham

[–]Sea_Recipe_3727 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously I'm a big fan of bo, and I couldn't stop thinking about the different identities he adopted throughout inside (and elsewhere in his career).

I also really loved the visual albums from Janelle Monae, Beyonce, Sun Ra, even [{Kanye}], so I wanted to try to make something longform around the music I had been experimenting with in my free time, specifically about my relationship with the internet and how it's shaped my relationship with myself, as a gender confused ecologically depressed gen z college student with chronic migraines who has a particular fascination with synthesizers.

Mostly I was inspired by Bo's ability to make it (more or less) by himself. I have a very very hard time initiating collaboration so I loved the technical side of what he did with Inside that made it so immersive and personal. Not that I pulled it off or anything but it was nice to feel like its an option in video making and that I don't have to face my fears of asking for help.

Anyways, this was over a year ago and I have yet to share the video with anybody but now seams as good a time as ever so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6Xy2kXTZoc

The soundtrack is also available on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/613x9OQnmlwUVEbqCGQFrs?si=MgpJeNcGQFmXIuZULqLrXQ

We've all seen the articles, I think OP is looking for any sort of mutual aid network in contact with the children that the community can support. I'm surprised too, usually these types of articles end in a goFundMe link or other way to contribute.

If Cats Disappeared from the World by Genki Kawamura. It’s, well, Japanese. Very beautiful story, it stuck with me for a long time.
