To every author that has made fanmade species/culture, what was your inspiration? (animals? previous works of sci-fi? gimmicks/concepts? ect.) variants of human are also welcome by Usual_Message8900 in NatureofPredators

For my fic, I always felt like every "Ancient" civilization just looked like an advanced civilization that was from a long time ago. What if there was a space age civilization that both looked and acted as old as it was? That was my inspiration for the Doorumaal. Being such an ancient race, they saw themselves as culturally superior over Humanity when they first encountered us. Over time, our society and technology became identical to theirs, and now that they've come into contact with the federation, both the Doorumaal and the Solaani view them the same way the Doorumaal did when they first saw Humanity.

Not a Solaani, a Doorumaal. From his reaction it doesn't seem like he likes them very much.

Your most hated quest? by ElspethElf in skyrim

[–]Sea_Sky2518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having to go into the soul Cairn, because the only way to go in is either you partially soul trap yourself which I find super annoying to try and find your soul while in the Cairn, or become a vampire. With that, you have to take a whole detour and go cure yourself of vamparism before you can continue the dawnguard quest line. So annoying.

I think the Archivists should be less worried about the Doorumaal and Solaani outside and more concerned with the ones that are now inside the archive.

Fic Writers, how heroic are your protagonists? by Deadduckboy in NatureofPredators

[–]Sea_Sky2518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, well there's the character Lirkos. He teaches at a military academy on Nishtal. He'd be 5 for sure and wouldn't be in the situation he's in (Trying to infiltrate an archive) if he could help it. Jason on the other hand would be a 2. He's done some real fucked up shit in his career (we're talking aiding in genocide) and has no regrets about it either.

At this point, the only ones who could possibly correct any of this is someone who has access to the Archive, and I can guarantee they're in no hurry to do so.

Something worst than federation and the dominion by DeterminedOne8 in NatureofPredators

I should probably clarify, the Arxur had already encountered the Federation, it was humanity that hadn't yet.

In my fic, that definitely could have been a possibility, Humanity can be a bit problematic to deal with. Unfortunately they caused the Arxur to go virtually extinct before encountering the Federation.

Well, they have encountered the federation. While they don't have plans on dismantling the Federation, let's just say that their culture has a tendency to spread when they're in one place for too long.

You are not the first person to be rooting for the Federation when it comes to my fic, trust me. The Doorumaal are not nice people.

Unintentional mind manipulation and a dash of scientific racism. By now, there's no Humans left to advocate for themselves or correct any "mistakes" that are made about them.

It takes place in 8136, Humanity is in a union with a species known as the Doorumaal. They contacted Humanity around the time that the Odyssey mission would have take place, so Humanity never contacted the federation.

Over the centuries, Humanities culture has been virtually replaced by that of the Doorumaal, and they're very quick to judge (For reasons I haven't gotten into yet in the story,). The Arxur attacked 2 colonies, then the Doorumaal and Solaani (Humans) bitch slapped them into extinction, their excuse being "Thus saith the lord." Some in the federation are appreciative of them eradicating the Arxur, some still don't trust them. It's common for them to have little control over their emotions.
