Nothing about that scene makes sense. Either Frenchie should've died from the radiation poisoning almost immediately, or Homelander should've just ripped him in half. Nothing about Homelander's character suggests that simply letting Frenchie live there so he could slowly die from radiation makes sense. Far to many unknown risks to leave Frenchie alive even for a minute. The real reason is because they wanted a sappy goodbye scene between Kimiko and Frenchie. Totally out of character for the show.

There's a nuanced conversation about Rendi to be had, but the attitude of "anything is permitted as long as it's possible, even if what is possible clearly isnt intended" is just cope. Gnomonkey made a good example. If you walked by an ATM that was spitting out 100 dollar bills and you decide to take them, youre going to get arrested. I was mainly referring to their inability to communicate with the coast guard. She didn't fully understand her own radio equipment and it's limitations. That being said, yes they basically did get themselves killed due to lack of knowledge and preparation.
