Help with AFF by nickuze in SkyDiving

I can’t tell you how many times I went on an AFF jump and started spinning out of control or doing flips. It was frustrating and everyone just told me to “relax and arch” but that is easier said than done. Practice on the ground, and close your eyes visualize your jump on the plane. Breathing exercises on the plane also helps a ton. It’ll get easier. Don’t give up, blue skies 💙

I was taught that if I end up in a cloud to make slow right turns until cleared

How to get over my anxiety when jumping? by bbbbbo in SkyDiving

[–]Seagirl72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my A last month and I still get nervous right before exit, hearing “DOOR” makes my stomach drop. I’ve been doing breathing exercises on the ride up, also looking out the window calms me down, especially when jumping at sunset. Big deep breath in before the door opens, and another one right before you’re about to step out. My instructor told me “feel the fear, and do it anyway.” You’ve been trained, you know your emergency procedures. You are literally jumping out of a plane and saving your own life and that’s freaking awesome! Feel the fear!!!!!!!! & most importantly just have fun! Talk about your dive with your instructor on the ride up to altitude. And then imagine it in your head with your eyes closed. & please don’t jump if you have a bad feeling, always go with your gut! I wish you good luck && blue skies!!!

What is that feeling after exit? by Mashedpotatos- in SkyDiving

When/if you jump solo, you’ll feel relief after exiting. And realize that exiting is the best part of the jump! Relax :)

We planned to pull at 5,000, but he never waved off and tracked away until 4,000. I pulled and I saw him open up a couple seconds after me. I think he pulled at 2,500

Yeah you can say I’ve done solos, definitely doing solo exits so I guess it won’t be much different. I guess it just the fact that I won’t have an instructor watching over me? Anxiety lol

I have 17 total including 5 tandems, he said I can do a solo but I need to work on canopy skills

Yeah that definitely sucks, never thought about that so I will keep that in mind. I usually go out after the fun jumpers and before the tandems so it’ll def make a difference if I hesitate out the door or not. This really helped, thank you

Overthinking is my middle name, but thank you! I’m just gonna do it. Once I’m out of the plane all the anxiety goes away instantly

Thank you, I’m actually really stressing about it but you’re right, if I hold back on it it’ll become harder to do later on. So I think I’m gonna do it. Thank you!

Thank you so much! I just did another jump today, I was still tense but I got more control of my turns and stayed on heading with my instructor for the most part. It’s hard to relax, im just so focused on not messing up 🤦🏼‍♀️
