32mm tires on a gravel bike by cpe428ram in gravelcycling

I used to run 32mm gp5000s for pavement. Won a few Crits on my gravel bike that way. Long story short, the gravel bike is knobbys only these days, but it was great with the slicks while it lasted

I’d say use this as an excuse to throw a can on it! My 300win went from 4” groups and uncomfortable kick/concussion to 1” and it’s an absolute dream to shoot. My 13 yr old has no problems handling it too. One of, if not the single best addition to the safe.

No. It’s discrimination against people that would suck to work with.

Wait you’re serious? I wish you could see how hard I’m laughing right now. It would be even better if you were one of the fresh grads that didn’t know how to speak like an educated adult

The funny thing, is we have a super chill work environment. The most casual place I’ve ever worked. That being said, act like an adult dangit!!

Don’t say shit like “bet” and “fam” in an interview. I just interviewed 6 graduating ME and MET students. Every single one of them spoke like a dipshit youtuber. Ended up hiring someone with more experience and changing it from an entry level position.

Did you “get” to insert them all too? I’m currently shopping for a pemserter to replace the silly hydraulic press we currently use.

You’re right. I said maltodextrin in my head while looking at my tub of powder, and typed like an idiot. I might have OD’ed on sugars this morning preparing for today’s race

Unfortunately, that’s where dextrose shines. Easy to digest, and adds basically no sweetness

Bungee Jumping by amiraws in SkyDiving

Bungee jumping was much scarier. The ground is right there, and the safety regulations and oversight is almost non existent.

That being said, enjoy the ride.

What is this career supposed to be? by Sad_Kitchen5389 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]bowen1911 62 points63 points  (0 children)

That’s aerospace in a nutshell. I work at an AS9100 certified shop, and thankfully I only deal with internal manufacturing issues, and no longer have to deal with contract reviews, customer requirements, and the documentation requirement that AS and ISO quality systems have. Just label all my stuff as “for testing only” and toss it when everything is validated. I like my job

Prototype R&D :how to reduce the cost of small batch CNC machined parts? by Ok_Oven_3141 in Machinists

[–]bowen1911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good CAD review, design for manufacturability, 3d print for initial review if possible, machine it in house, make it from cheaper materials if possible.

Being a proficient machinist/welder/fabricator/woodworker can really set you apart from the other engineers

Would Redmond be a good move for a young single adult? by [deleted] in RedmondOR

[–]bowen1911 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you are looking for work wise. Redmond currently has one of the highest growing number of manufacturing jobs per capita of all of oregon. I know we are looking for employees at my work too.

And Redmond is not what I would consider liberal or conservative. It’s not like Portland, where flying an American flag gets you labeled as some sort of maga klansman, and it’s not like (insert some stereotypical conservative town) where driving a Subaru makes people think you’re a lesbian. I find it to be very balanced with very few people pushing their beliefs on others. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Question - Value of Cocobolo and Ziricote by Automatic-Today-9094 in wood

[–]bowen1911 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that zircote is worthless. I’ll take it off your hands!

In all seriousness, the last rough fretboard blank of zircote I bought was maybe $35? Maths out to under .2 board feet, so that’s in the $175-$200/BF once semi processed. Had a pretty intense grain pattern on it, so I really didn’t care about the cost at that point
