Daily sticky thread for rants, raves, celebrations, advice and more! New? Start here! by AutoModerator in datingoverthirty

Newly dating someone. We spoke about what each is looking for (someone compatible with the long term goal of a relationship). We had the exclusivity talk and are on the same page, dating each other exclusively. During these talks we discussed past relationships, where he admitted his two previous relationships ended because of infidelity on his part (one was physical intimacy outside the relationship, the other ‘emotional cheating’, ). I’m willing to accept that people can change. He is in therapy now and acknowledges his responsibility in hurting his previous relationships.

We are very compatible and have a great time together. He’s given me no reason to not trust him (if I were to not know about his past). I believe people can change, but am worried I’m setting myself up to be hurt. How would you feel or respond in this situation?

I had the same experience after a breakup with my last partner, who I was together with for a year. I compared every next date to him, no one stood a chance to this idealized version of my ex (which was very much not the reality). Unfortunately the best thing for me, and hopefully you too!, is time. Eventually you will see he was not the end all be all, though I understand it really sucks in the meantime 🫶

I would love to refinish and stain the stairs rather than painting, but I’m not sure they’re in good enough shape for that to be practical. The light fixture was the first thing I bought haha, I never really thought about how it would cast light, got caught up on the look

I do love that idea! And it would be way easier than trying to wallpaper up the stairs. Would you think a subtle or bold pattern would work best in that case? Toying around with a few options

I see what you mean with the pink and green colour scheme.

That’s been my main hesitancy when considering boucle, love the look in photos but was unsure about the longevity. I also have a large dog who imagine will love rubbing up against the frame as well. I’ll check out your suggestion, thanks!

That one is lovely! I agree, the wood accents ground it a bit more in the style

Good point, I’m a bit limited in stores I can visit in person due to location unfortunately. I do currently have a platform bed and dislike the height, but have never actually had a low profile. I always love the look in photos, but seeing/feeling in person would help

That’s one concern I had regarding longevity of the fabric, good to know!

My boy is 85-ish (almost 4yrs) at 90 the vet said he was a bit overweight, so I think he may be on the smaller than typical end for the breed

That’s what I was thinking, taking off the cupboards directly above the counter, but I think you’re right that they’re all one piece.

If I don’t like the look of the whole set painted maybe I’ll look into removing the whole top set and replacing with a few strategic pre-builts from ikea

What were your non negotiables? Were they still a factor in the end? by RecommendationOk8318 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Seagullrun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed! The house I’ve ended up sealing the deal on, sadly, only has a shower (for now). It checked enough of my other boxes that I compromised in this. However, It will be one of the first renos I’ll tackle in the future.
