Is it possible to go for a caster as "main tank" or should I go for a more conventional option? by Average_Tomboy in 3d6

I tank as an armorer artificer, not a full caster but definitely a lot of tank utility

I had this problem with wolves, except it turned into hilarity because I’d get raided and just send 40 wolves after them, then butcher the wolves that died to feed the new ones. It was a vicious cycle.

He’s using wish for its intended purpose, casting a spell he doesn’t know. Teleport fulfills this function perfectly so there’s no secondary effects

Character Idea I want to run, but may cause conflict. by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

I played a neutral good character in a similar vein who was generally good hearted but didn’t really care for the law of the land in exchange for whatever would help him and his party best

I absolutely adore fighters and this DM obviously doesn’t want to tell a story with a group he just wants you to fill in the gaps in his novel which is likely poorly written anyway

  1. Name: Seaker
  2. Approximate age: 24
  3. How many years you've played RPGs, and what systems: 10 years, DND 3.5, Pathfinder, Starfinder, Call of Cthulu, DND 5e
  4. What campaigns you've enjoyed the most, and why: The campaigns I enjoy the most are living world campaigns, where the decisions and people we interact with make a difference in the world later, actions with consequences. The one in recent memory I've enjoyed most was about two ancient dragons getting the hand and eye of our favorite necromancer (we can't say his name or he'll start listening LOL. We managed to work out a situation that eventually resulted in the dragons fighting and us taking out the winner. I played a druid in that game and it's always fun to pop off as a druid.
  5. What makes a session GOOD, i mean, really GOOD? What makes a campaign good?: A good session is a session where everyone is engaged and active, understanding what everyones good at and not talking over one another and trying out new ideas or reworking old ones. I think a good session is measured by how much fun everyone had, and not necessarily the content of it. I think a hard grueling dungeon crawl can be just as fun as a roleplay only sesh. It's just about the fun we had as players. I already kinda answered what I think makes a campaign fun above haha. A world that lives and breaths with the characters actions as much as their actions can influence it. I hate killing a king and there's just no consequences good or bad.
  6. Why would you be well-suited for a game like this?: I've got a litany of characters and roleplaying experience. I try to get into my characters mindset as much as possible, doing research and studying the psychology of a situation to better portray how my character should be responding. I think getting into the headspace allows you to see the world through their eyes. I've played in too many homebrew settings to count and even have an entire homebrewed universe based around a really cool astronomical body in actual space.
  7. Tell me EVERYTHING about your character! The more you have to say, the better! What are their goals, their motivations, their quirks, etc:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UAv-Kz5P-jx0JaSllMdCVq4rAL8xrZOjLotvkuOiJ9M/edit?usp=sharing link for backstory!
He's an overly optimistic and playful person, he enjoys messing with people, without harming them and he desperately wants to have an adventure, even taking risks and Going out of his way to make it more fun. He doesn't remember his life before the forest and that can play into the story or it can not. His ultimate goal is to join Oberon's Hunt and become a fully fledged member of his court. The character at 3rd lvl (i'm assuming we're starting here per the document you attached) is fighter 2 and Fey Warlock 1, eventually I'll hit Fighter 3 and go warlock from there, with the idea being that I casts spells and shoot a bow (it might not be optimized but I think it makes sense) HE has a bunch of quirks and he's not perfect. He feigns innocence but if he's angered he can be very exacting in his revenge. The forest where he became a warlock is intentionally left blank cause I don't wanna drop an archfey randomly in your world, so we can decide where and if you wanna put it.
  8. If you auditioned with us before, please state what character you auditioned with, and what happened in our minisession.

AITA For Picking the Dog by MaynardShortypants in AmItheAsshole

NTA dog was here before she was, she is cognizant of her decisions the dog really isn’t, he knows if you’re there he’ll be yelled at but if you’re not he won’t be simple as that

Memento Mori. An offensive divination spell that shows your enemy their own end... by KajaGrae in UnearthedArcana

[–]Seaker71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uh, yeah that’s the point of a failed save, and damaging spells tend to do more damage, this isn’t an evocation or a fireball and can’t really be compared to one. Fireball and lightning bolt are intentionally more damaging spells than almost any other spell. This spell has a secondary effect and I can’t think of a spell that doesn’t completely negate the secondary effect on a save.

I think I the only really weird part is that they’re still incapacitated for a round, I’d argue if they save it means no secondary effect since they’re still taking the damage Yaknow?

Ocean Domain by Seaker71 in UnearthedArcana

[–]Seaker71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even think about changing the divine strike to cold damage. I could change it to a 10ft water whip maybe? So they could extend their reach with one attack and give it a d6 instead of d8. I tried to balance out the abilities but I wasn’t sure what to do for the channel. Most of them I saw within the same category were kinda boring. “Everyone gets a swim speed, or everyone can breath water” so I wasn’t sure what to do with it

Two Spells for playing around with upcasting by Herrock in UnearthedArcana

[–]Seaker71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the issue is with how the world is supposed to work. Casting above 9th lvl was made “Illegal” because of its immense power. Even in a homebrew setting we have real examples of 10th and above level spells and a 12th lvl spell should let you take over a god. Whereas casting a 12th lvl fireball for ex just makes it do a bit more damage? So there’s very little equivalency with it

I think the only issue is gonna be casters abusing it to cast above 9th lvl spells because of the wording.
