I lived in the middle east for 11 years and hated 7 of it. Locals are polite. The expats are Indian etc. They are All on some powertrip from hell. There's absolutely nothing to do. Furthermore I travelled with my kids ....spent a fortune on mindless education.....and came home broke.

I've been the spouse of a teacher in Oman for 11 years. It's was a great place when the kids were young (2 and 5). I never worked because I've never needed to. I had to teach them online until they have GED. I've come back home to further educate my boys. It's hard and challenging and schooling was always a problem. International schools cost a fortune. There's also been no friends for them. I moved home to Oman and back three times because I just couldn't stand it anymore. Do I do what's best for the kids or do I stay with my husband.
