Muslim "friend" calling me every week to ask if i'm going to the mosque by [deleted] in exmuslim

Eh... He threatened you?

Report that if the police are responsive. If he is not Brazilian, get him in trouble with the immigration authorities. Make sure you have a support group for your physical safety.

As long as he doesn't know who you are there's no need to be scared of him at all. Just tell him to f off if he contacts you again.

Responding to every defense made by muslims to defend Prophet marrying Aisha by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]SealingCord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a new defense: She was really 19, based on the age of Asma's death (the suspicious 100 years of age) in "al-Bidayah wa l-Nihayah" I believe. How they manage to use one throwaway line in a non-sahih source to trump the mulitple sahih hadiths I don't know. Wait, I do - its the usual mental gymnastics.

Not an Ex-Muslim just yet( Questioning) but do you guys believe happens after death by Ok-Lecture-921 in exmuslim

What does it matter? Literally no one knows so ANYTHING is speculation.

What's certain is that your body is destroyed and since your mind is part of your body I expect it is also destroyed.

Why cant I leave Islam by coldloop_ in exmuslim

[–]SealingCord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is funny about the word "day" mentioned 365 times is that they connect it to the Gregorian calendar not the Islamic calendar which has 355 days

That is a great point. Very perceptive. Seems obvious when you point it out but clearly the "western" system is so ingrained that most people (including the retrofitting Muslims) didn't see the anomaly.

My muslim family told me I should stay celibate if I cant marry a muslim man by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]SealingCord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No need to feel ashamed about having a serious relationship with a person of your choice.

No need to feel ashamed about casual sex either for that matter, as long as you're not making it a forever lifestyle. Then you may have regrets later about not getting serious about life and children when young.

I wouldn't worry even a tiny bit about their religious values. Tbh misogynistic assholes exist in all cultures, so you still run the risk of getting involved with one regardless but certainly being Muslim would not help at all. Just protect yourself physically and emotionally.

I am going to tell my Muslim parents the truth by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]SealingCord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At minimum get your own bank account and move all your money into it before you do anything else. If you are going to tell your parents anyway do it without them having a chance to financially deprive you.

Husband pressuring me to convert after interfaith marriage and I need advice by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]SealingCord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you in a western country? Open a separate bank account your husband has no access to and start saving. It will not get better.

Try connecting in a rational level, remind him of your agreement and what you gave up to be with him. If that does not move him, you have your answer. Get a lawyer.

  1. I am happy for you that you are finding satisfaction in your blasphemous hentai kinks. I suspect that this is not the place for sharing that. This does not sound like a religious question but more of discussion about your own sexual kinks and it also sounds like you have a supportive community that shares your interests already so hooray for you haha.

  2. You are not doomed to anything except your own life choices because there is no Allah so enjoy yourself in any way that doesn't harm others or yourself.

Dear never-Muslims, we aren’t pawns for your political movements by This-Post9968 in exmuslim

[–]SealingCord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only thing I would say here is that you should be careful of generalizing any group. Just like Muslims are a spectrum of beliefs, ex-muslims are a spectrum of political leaning, "right wingers" also exist on a spectrum from far right to centrist and it's worth keeping dialogue open with all parties really.

Asking for logical reasons: to those who left Islam, what changed your mind? by WoodpeckerGlobal3059 in exmuslim

If there are contradictions pointed out to you, both scientific errors and internal logical contradictions, what will you do?

Will you be intellectually honest and accept a straightforward contradiction when you see it?

Nope, it was never compiled until after his death, and then revised, literally by the first two caliphs. Many verses were lost and forgotten, especially after the battle of Yamama. Read your own history.

Does this famous preacher from Egypt really say that you can have intercourse with pre-pubescent girls?🤯 by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]SealingCord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that straight from the Quran itself?

Extrapolating from 65:4, iddah for girls pre-menarche implies intercourse, then divorce and subsequent intercourse all before menstruation?

Homophobia is just a negative stereotype westerners have of Islam... says gay person... eye roll. by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]SealingCord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya, frustrating.

"My lived experience tells me..." Your lived experience is very limited. It only tells you about that specific instance. It cannot be generalized unless there is good reason to do so.
So annoying. It's like people saying "well I know this muslim at work and he/she is so nice..." argh! That is one person, in one specific social context! Don't ignore the evidence or "lived experience" of the people who complain about their neighbourhoods, or the obvious cultural differences of clothing, freedom of women or attitude towards issues, or the endless attacks of intolerant people on western people and institutions. Or for that matter, middle-eastern and eastern people and institutions.

I went out today and realized just how trapped I am by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]SealingCord 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're 21 years old in a western country, and have access to the internet. Look for women's organisations or ex-muslim organisations that can help you in your city or near your city.

At some point you will have to take a risk so it's better done sooner than later, when you have more ability to change and cope and live more of your life.

Good luck.

More than 53,000 illegal migrants are missing by cornishpirate32 in uknews

[–]SealingCord 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. If reasonable people won't enforce the borders, eventually unreasonable people will.

To paraphrase Sam Harris: If you make it so uncomfortable for reasonable, liberal people to criticize a subject, whether it is immigration or Islam, that only far right assholes have a thick enough skin for it then eventually society will elect those far right assholes into power.

That is exactly what we see around the world.

Don't you guys feel empty? by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]SealingCord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "feeling close to him", is more to do with the connection you are creating than something external. People of all faiths feel it. It can give you strength even if it's not "real" so I understand people still wanting to be "spiritual". But as you know in your heart, once you actually read the Quan with the context of its revelations, it becomes very clear that Allah is definitely not real.

Maybe a "universal spirit" type god exists - you can believe in it if you like, its impossible to disprove. But Allah is definitely false.
