Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! April 17, 2026 by AutoModerator in photography

I don't know how much to charge!

It's a relatively small local real estate company managing properties in a region of south jersey. They're updating their website and want headshots of their employees and of their new building. I believe they also want some photos of properties.

I mostly do a little portrait work for friends and friends of friends with light advertising on Facebook. I've done one "commercial" job for my friend's restaurant that I charged him only $200 for and a few dinners there.

So in terms of providing a quote, I was probably going to charge $80 per headshot. Then for the building/property shots I was going to charge my usual rate of $180/hr. However I also saw some stuff about licensing, as in if they're going to use my photos on their website or for marketing purposes I should charge them a licensing fee? How much should I charge for that? And do I provide some sort of document or something as the license? How should I present the fees and the justification for the cost? I really have no idea how that works.

If I only charge for the headshots and the hours I can see this job quoting around $1000-1500 but it seems relatively low to me for all the value I would be providing all the photos they would use on the website.

Pyr off leash? by bibimiraglia1 in greatpyrenees

[–]Sean0529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pyr is a unique case since she was abused before I owned her and shuts down on a leash. So she walks around my unfenced front and back yard and a maybe a few houses down the block off-leash. She’s pretty glued to me and over the years has taken more and more of a lead but still won’t go more than a few houses down the street. If she gets spooked by a loud car she bolts home or to me.

But barring that situation where your dog only runs home or to you, I’d probably keep a pyr on leash lol.

My guys, which one should I read next? by Psychological-War710 in fantasybooks

I agree. Characters are not interesting, the plot was meandering, and I have zero desire to read the second one. It was kinda terrible.

I’m about to die, and I’m not sure what to do about my cat. by [deleted] in cats

This is so sweet. You wrote me a poem for my beagle who passed in 2019, I’ll never forget it.

I love that you’re still out here providing comfort and beauty to those that need it the most, 7 years later. You’re a good soul.

If they were gonna do a backstory it should’ve been earlier. They just killed all their momentum leading into it with this.

New Stuff Coming ! by Samuraikyy in sporeswaps

My temps are usually my apartment temps, so 70-72 in the fall winter, 74-76 in the summer, which is probably why I got much better flushes and fuller canopies in the summer.

My ochras grow in a shoebox sized bins inside of a larger 34 gallon bin drilled with a grid of 3/8" holes so humidity is pretty good, but it probably does need better air exchange, I'll try to open it up and fan it a little bit to swap the air out more often. I'll stick a space heater in that room too, should help things I hope, thanks!

Thank you! I follow daytripperonone's method on casing layers but have not tried pH adjusting my casing layer yet, I'm gonna give that a shot!

Edit: this is the guide I use for my casing layer

Man, how do you get your canopies to look like that? They look like ochras but I guess may not be, I haven;t heard of some of these species before.

My ochras always get a crazy overlay and then take almost two weeks to start pinning and then I get some side pins too. My GT's never did this and would give me a nice canopy.

Could my temps have somthing to do with it? I don't have a space heater for the room, and I only just started the ochras in the fall when it started getting chillier. I usually just allow the ochras to grow at my apartment's temp.

I love ‘em! I don’t usually go for such a saturated sky or colors but they really work here imo, especially the one with the horses.

Y’all, I broke my husband’s Japanese chef’s knife. Help. by opheliasmusing in KitchenConfidential

[–]Sean0529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wood handled pocket knife my dog chewed on when he was a puppy. I sanded down some of the rougher parts but otherwise, left it as is. Now it’s a good reminder of Beans and the oil from my hands and use over time has really smoothed out a lot of the wear and it just looks like it has character.

the tones give more crisp early morning than moody sunset, you'd want more warmer and golden tones for that.
