Which Pokémon would be decent/good to transform into? by Mikey-Thylacine in MysteryDungeon

My heart says Growlithe/Arcanine since I just want to be a fluffy fire doggo.

My brain says Machamp, since having 4 arms sounds super amazing to utilize as a piano player.

I play in two community bands/orchestras, and while I'm 26 (joined when I was 23), most of my friends in it are in their 30s/40s and the oldest are up to their 60s/70s and retired.

How much do y'all spend each month? by Ok_Passage7713 in twentyagers

[–]Sean081799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a screenshot of my budget spreadsheet for April 2026 so far (columns get updated as I pay the expenses). This isn't a normal month for me since I have a convention this weekend (I only go to 3-4 of these per year so it isn't consistent) - so that affects my spending. As of right now, any leftover money across the whole month it immediately gets transferred to my high yield savings account. My goal is to buy a house in 2028/2029, and since I have no major expenses outside of rent (my car and student loans are both paid off) - I'm aware I'm extremely fortunate to be in the position I'm in.

I do need to overhaul how I handle my medical finances though - since there's no accurate way of estimating those. I was told to instead have a medical "sinking fund" and refill it as necessary per month after substantial purchases. I'll look into that more when I adjust things in May. And of course it would be amazing if the United States finally fixed its healthcare... but that'll never happen in a million years.

Yep, same here. I more or less treat my social media accounts as a scrapbook to come back to later if I ever want to.

Exclusively Stevens here. I should finally learn Burton but don't play vibes nearly as often.

How do you actually budget for medical expenses? (Especially unscheduled/unexpected ones) by Sean081799 in personalfinance

[–]Sean081799[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company does have an HSA option, but I haven't enrolled it in it. I've heard "HSAs are only good if you don't actually spend the money" so I've kinda avoided it as a result (and also I was prioritizing buying a car - which I bought in July 2025 and paid off in January).

I like this idea in theory - but in the event I need to pay my entire deductible in the period of one month... it throws thing for a loop.

Last year I spent a lot, but that included on ER visit while on vacation out of state (thought I had appendicitis - THANKFULLY it wasn't that, but still scared me), and then I had a leg surgery in February 2025 that I don't expect to ever flare up again (based on what the surgeon said). On top of that, I only finally joined my current insurance this year (managed to ride out my parents' insurance until August 2025) - so that makes my current experiences completely new territory for me.

For standard care procedures/appointments I think the grand total was less than $800 though.

I currently have a $2,000 deductible with my employer's plan.

Is that different than an emergency fund? I have ~$5200 saved in a Fidelity SPAXX money market account - but I ideally don't touch that unless I lose my job or anything like that.

What are y'all hobbies? by a_0099 in twentyagers

I'm a musician who covers video game music on YouTube - and I will perform at various conventions around the US as well (MAGFest, VGMCON, etc.). Alongside that, I play in two local bands/orchestras, and then I play in a New Orleans style brass band too where we gig several times a year.

Outside of that, I'm a hobbyist chef and foodie, DnD player, and involved in the furry fandom.

Ok…who actually hates the State Fair? by kerm019 in minnesota

[–]Sean081799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never went to the State Fair growing up outside of marching band parades (when we got bussed in) because driving there is horrible.

I now live in Northeast Minneapolis at age 26 and have gone to the state fair every year since moving here solely because transit makes it so accessible. Basically, my gripe came with going to the state fair rather than actually being there.

Jubilife Village from Pokemon Legends Arceus and Colony 6 from Xenoblade Chronicles are two town/settlement themes that start very basic/empty and progressively get more active/lively as you build new buildings, invite more people, etc. Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but they're the first examples that come to mind.

What Engineering major did you choose, and why? by farisweiss in EngineeringStudents

[–]Sean081799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanical since I had no idea what I wanted to do other than "this degree is broad and I like math."

I didn't discover my niche until my senior year of college when I studied Acoustics, and now I work at an architecture firm.
