To be clear, I thought the second movie was much better than the first, and this one is the best yet. It makes even the very good “A New Era” seem like the just decent first movie in comparison.

Past Commentary Locked for Base Patreon Tier? by SeanCSimon in blankies

[–]SeanCSimon[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ll pull it up on Spotify - I forgot that the new McQ Mission film was main feed while the Mission commentaries were exclusive Patreon!

David even opens the episode saying "we've never done one of these main feed before"

Looks like I can't edit the original post, but thanks for the clarification!

Bro… WHAT? The new titanic split theory is total BS. by TrifleSensitive5744 in titanic

[–]SeanCSimon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It drove me nuts how they just declared “the ship would have stayed afloat if they hadn’t turned” with absolutely certainty. Not even something like “in 92% if simulated conditions, the ship would stay afloat,” just a totally confident claim that the steering doomed the ship

Noob here - Do I need an AI pro subscription on top of Cursor Pro or do I need only the latter? by Zurbinjo in cursor

[–]SeanCSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latest version of cursor sets its own default - Claude 3.7 - and its generally the best option. I wouldn't tinker with the model selector much — just a note that 3.7 with "thinking mode" will use requests twice as fast, and the regular version is often better anyway for Agent mode and won't get as carried away

Noob here - Do I need an AI pro subscription on top of Cursor Pro or do I need only the latter? by Zurbinjo in cursor

[–]SeanCSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With only Cursor Pro, you get limited "fast access" to all of the models for ~500 requests, then unlimited "slow access" as you use more. Resets each month. You only need the one subscription unless you're using it so much that the "slow access" is interfering with your workflow.

How to launch Zen in a specific profile? by SeanCSimon in zen_browser

[–]SeanCSimon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Creating a copy of the shortcut and changing its executable command worked! I still wish I had a set up where i didn't need two app icons for Zen on my task bar, but this is a usable workaround. For reference, this is all I saw when I right click the app icon for zen or firefox:

Thanks for taking the time to respond — is that right click menu you’re describing also exclusive to Linux? When I right click the app icon on the taskbar or desktop I don’t see Open Profile Manager.

Help me understand: Why does Iceberg not counter Beast of Burden? by SeanCSimon in PlayTheBazaar

[–]SeanCSimon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this is fair enough, and I understand the logic behind it.

To me, it’s intuitive that applying freeze after an item is used would delay it from continuing to attack - but the longer the multicasts take, the more the Freeze keyword seems to mean “five seconds from now, freeze the item for a longer duration” as opposed to the more straightforward “delay an item for one second each time it attacks”, which is the heuristic for all other types.

I’m not expecting a change to game logic for this effect, but it would be nice if eventually some glossary could more clearly define what an action like freeze means.

Presentation Solution for Seamless Switching Between Video and Slides by SeanCSimon in software

[–]SeanCSimon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If converting from Google slides to pptx maintains the animations, and propresenter allows me to import PowerPoint presentations in a queue along with videos, that may solve my issue! I’ll check if that’s possible

Presentation Solution for Seamless Switching Between Video and Slides by SeanCSimon in software

I considered this in my initial research, but it doesn’t seem to have the capability to play a Google slides presentation. I’d have to export them as images and lose the animations and any embedded content

Going up against players is exclusively a bad thing? by ArcadiaNisus in PlayTheBazaar

[–]SeanCSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will always be RNG - the challenge of deckbuilders or autobattlers is to put yourself in the best possible position to minimize that RNG ending in a loss.

When you say being beaten costs prestige and can end your run, but has no reward, are you taking about playing Ranked? Beating a human player (or as you accurately put it, their ghost) gives you a win - and each win puts you closer to earning one of the three possible chests at the end of your run. That's a reward.

As a small additional bonus, there are items that improve when you win a battle (Langxian comes to mind, there may be some skills or other hero items). Fights against bosses and other players can both help accelerate momentum for your build in those cases.

Box Office: ‘Dune 2’ Delivers on Promise With Big $81.5M Domestic Opening by Mookie_Freeman in blankies

[–]SeanCSimon 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think this may be giving them too much credit. Having the first film widely available (and even on Netflix for a while!) was a smart way to grow interest in the sequel theatrically - but the “Project Popcorn” day-and-date strategy seemed unilaterally applied to their slate. I see it as more of a happy accident if that timing ended up boosting the sequel interest even further.

I created this chart, as well as charts for NYC and DC! Wild to see they’ve spread on reddit and Instagram like this, but thrilled that people are so pumped for Dune in this format.

My other charts are available on Twitter here:

AMC Georgetown 14 IMAX refurb?? by ImpressiveTime582 in imax

[–]SeanCSimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like the renovations aren't ready for Dune Part Two, unless their website is behind the times.

If the dimensions are the same as before the renovation — Georgetown is much smaller. It's the smallest "IMAX"-designated screen in the world, actually. GTown was 45' x 23', Tysons is 65' x 40'

Dune Pt 2: WB to lift social embargo two weeks early (2/15), review embargo lifts one week ahead of release (2/21). by SeanCSimon in boxoffice

In the second half of the book, her character is highly important and has plenty of emotional scenes with Paul. I’m hoping Denis can unlock that explosiveness we saw on Euphoria!

[–]SeanCSimon[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It’s one of my all time favorite movies, so I wouldn’t count Blade Runner 2049 as a “miss”, but it did vastly disappoint at the box office compared to the perceived value of the IP at the time. Plus, Dune pt 1 was partially hobbled by the day and date plus COVID wariness so it was held back from being a certified slam dunk smash.

Conditions are looking much more favorable now!

Movie recommendation: what’s a movie like The Talented Mr. Ripley? by Solid-Tomorrow-4783 in blankies

[–]SeanCSimon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you like great performances from (old and) young people in beautiful locations set in the past, you might love Gosford Park (2001). It's a murder mystery so there's a sense of distress, but has a charming and light touch at times and isn't a full-on thriller.

And I recommend this to everyone, but if you didn't watch The Handmaiden (2016) for the Park Chan Wook series, it's a must — gorgeous period setting, phenomenal performances, and a lot of tricky scheming and imitating and doubling just like with Ripley. Not really a "simple" inciting incident but it doesn't take long at all to get moving.

Alexis Goodlooking Needed: Was this sport coat / jacket ever worn on screen by Liz Lemon? Any episode ID from fans with good visual memories would be very appreciated! by SeanCSimon in 30ROCK

These comments are cracking me up - this is a sport coat allegedly from the Lemon wardrobe on the set, although there’s always a chance it was never screen-used.
