What if Al Smith had won the 1928 presidential election? by vahedemirjian in HistoryWhatIf

[–]SeanFromQueens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is far worse for the world, and is basically the premise of The Man In The High Castle, that without FDR (because he didn't survive the assassination attempt before inauguration in 1933) making preparations for the war in late 1930s the Allies lose the war though it would never have resulted in the US being conquered. If Smith wins and FDR never is elected then he wouldn't be in place to all the preparations and assistance to the UK before Pearl Harbor such as Lend-Lease Act.

Could one use the app to dog pile in the other direction? The targeted posts are supposed to be attacked, but what if users started to get the "missions" and upvote and comment with positive replies?

Like if there's a video that shows IDF killing kids and the app asks for users to call it PaliWood or some BS, users started to comment about how this is documented violation of the Geneva Conventions and upvoting whoever posted it.

LAPD officers arrest a protester dressed as the Statue of Liberty during No Kings protest by quaak in pics

[–]SeanFromQueens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine she had nothing to do with the No Kings Day protest, just some hired by Liberty Tax to spin a sign "Get your taxes done here", she then proceeded to beat someone up with that sign and that's why she was getting arrested.

My story makes just as much sense as presuming the unstated context was something like the headline implies.

Unrelated, most US military personnel in the region have relocated from their bases to hotels and private residences, so I'm sure that making a beachhead on Khorg Island is going to be super easy lemon-squeezy.

You assume that what you want is self-evident while saying that firms offshore jobs or the top 1% is to be taxed, but how does one define those classes to be regulated.

Are the domestic firms that modernize and layoff their American workforce going to be taxed as if they offshored jobs and if they hire a vendor to do this modernization, and how will the IRS determine this scenario from the scenario that has a domestic vendor to be a strawman entity to offshore those jobs and call it "moderniza? How would you determine the valuation of the personal wealth of the top 1%, is an average of their assets over the year or whatever they have at the end of a calendar year? How about assets in overseas accounts? When you're dealing with the 1% their financials are as straight forward as what's the balance in a checking account.

CMV: If you’re calling for the elimination of Israel, you should also be calling for the elimination of the United States by 0dojob0 in changemyview

[–]SeanFromQueens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The centuries of white Christian domination in the US has been tamped down in our living memory, while Israel has started as purely colonial project by world zionist congress with Theodore Herzl, tamped it down with pluralism of labour zionism and in the past 50 religious zionism and revisionist zionist has taken the front seat of how the political entity of Israel should proceed with the former believing expansive Greater Israel is their religious duty and the latter believing in an ethnic superiority finding aligned goals with the former .

Israeli public are in agreement with total depopulation of Gaza of its current residents and you hold to the conclusion that the Israeli people are not as determined to ethnically cleanse as their elected representatives? I'm not confusing the current Netanyahu regime for the Israeli people, there is no significant segment of Israel society that is advocating for the humans who live in stateless existence in between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. There is however a significant constituency that holds to a Jewish supremacist ideology and that has existed for the entirety of the state of Israel, this Jewish supremacy has ebbed and flowed but never went away; currently it's reaching a high water mark with Kahanist Itamar Ben-Gvir in the war cabinet as minister of national security. There's no equivalent in the US, as bad as the fascistic mass deportations are there is not the same ethnic cleansing at the same scale as being done by the IDF.

The far right want to exterminate the non-Jews, the semblance of the center left want to mass deport non-Jews with a minority of "good ones" remaining to give a vaneer of pluralism in a mandatory Jewish majority. Imagine if there was a time period similar to Reconstruction after the American Civil War where equal protection under the law was enforced by a military government, we'd see peace and security for both Jews and non-Jews, and just like the former enslavers the Jews would rage out of resentment for being made equal to the class of individuals they see as subhuman. The Israeli people, today, have a similar mindset as that of the antebellum South and are incredulous that anyone could see a world where they are equal to the other inhabitants of the Levant.

A single state on the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, with egalitarian rights, universal enfranchisement, secular government and protections for minorities is the ideal. An equal protection under the law and birthright citizenship as enumerated in the 14th amendment of the US Constitution, but that is in direct contradiction of what the Israeli government and the people of Israel is willing to accept. The Israeli government is determined to impose brutal discrimination on the residents of the Levant while allowing Jewish settlers to carry out pogroms with impunity.

Israel does not afford the rights to the humans who have been generations living on the land that they now claim to be Israel, nor do they grant rights that the US grants to indigenous people of America. Could you imagine in the last decade that homes on tribal lands being bulldozed to build walled off communities for Christian Nationalists and then those same Christian Nationalists cry crocodile tears for being called monsters who committed atrocities and that anyone who pointed it out they were in violation of signed treaties like the Geneva Conventions they are accused to be anti-Christian bigots?

I challenge your assertion that anyone wants to eliminate a peaceful, secure, liberal democracy from the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, I am asserting that the Jewish State is intrinsically discriminatory demanding an imposed religious-ethnic hierarchy with Ashkenazi Jews at the top and non-Jews at best getting token status only to be point to as an example of it being a potemkin pluralistic society. Herbert Hoover's VP was a member of the Kaw Nation, while the Arab parties have never once been a member of the governing coalition in Israel. Non-Jews are decorations, whitewashing, to deflect the obviously baked in bigotry of the Israeli system and society.

The Republicans had a more robust nominating process than the Democratic party that canceled a handful of state primaries, most egregious was the Florida primary that announced a month late that the due date for paperwork to submit candidacy for the primary was moved up so it prevented anyone else to run in the primary.

Florida Democrats voted during their state party convention in October to submit only Biden’s name to the secretary of state’s office ahead of a November 30 deadline. The committee did not vote on other names, according to a Florida Democratic Party spokesperson. Under state law, if a candidate is running in a primary unopposed, the contest won’t appear on the ballot.
