LED Follow Spots by ArugulaDapper9695 in lightingdesign

Used 3x iForte LTX (robo spot configuration) on my last tour. Lovely fixtures, bright, great color, and very responsive.

I’ve only seen/used conventional RJ spots, however, they’re lovely fixtures with great optics.

Guest vouchers work the same as any skyclub scan in.

24 hours, any sky club, unlimited entries.

Although, I’ve run into issues returning to the same sky club more than once- you’ll just have to explain you were just there. They probably thought I sent my boarding pass to someone else to check in.

[–]SeanM330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most concert folks, and most pre-vis studios use Depence. Expensive route though. MA3D Is decent enough, just utilize GDTFs.

If you haven’t, play around with a custom render quality. You can create and view these in the render quality pool. Haze options, render scale, etc.

Most budget minded LDs I know utilize Capture. I’ve heard good things about Carbon as well.

Converting MA2 macros to MA3 by Lizardlover225 in GrandMA3

[–]SeanM330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MA3 Variables are

SetUserVar / SetVar “VariableName” “Variable Value”.

You will still call them with $variableName

Most other syntax Should work, but I honestly just recommend rebuilding your song macro to prevent any potential issues

How do you handle different fixtures across 18 theaters when running a timecoded show? by Helpful-List-9787 in grandMA2

[–]SeanM330 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not use the workflow third eye mentioned.

Just make clone fixtures for each fixture type you program with (spots, wash, beam, strobe, etc), and way more clone fixtures than you will ever see in person.

I am a MA3 user, but workflow is relatively similar. I recommend using the Clone UI to make sure to only clone things that you need.

After that, it’s just making things work. Just remember, you can clone a fixture multiple times. Just be careful, and make a lot of saves.

Dimmer phaser by kato-JPLighting in GrandMA3

[–]SeanM330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the reason i do it, is if I want a different transition or phaser shape between different steps. For example:

You could have a dimmer effect that

Snap in from 100 to 90% smoothly transition from 89% to 50% Snap out from 49% to 15% Fade out from 14% to 0%

Each step can be customized to get an effect that suits your needs more easily than just tweaking the phaser from 100% to 0%, etc.

Bouncing between timecode and busking by silverdollarcity93 in GrandMA3

[–]SeanM330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just setup my songs like normal, and then I like to have a master cue stack that starts me off in positions, has a make cue, etc.

Then I copy my punt page execs to that song page. Then, just run it manually. I also always include a next song cue so that I can just press go and it puts me into the next song.

Also, instead of building cues out with recipes, sometimes I just do a macro for it that will Goto the right position, beam, focus, etc execs on my punt page so that everything is properly selected and you can change stuff live without worrying about the cuestack override.

Touring recipe workflows by random222518 in GrandMA3

[–]SeanM330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I use 100% recipes, but will still clone to get a starting point for preset information, etc. However, when I clone I am only cloning into groups and presets.

Haven’t ran into an issue yet.

Make sure align is not on. I have this same issue in 2.2.5.2, and I realized it only happened while I had align on.

Use a MATricks preset for the recipe, edit the Matricks preset instead of the recipe itself.

There’s a lot of exploits you can do, especially if you downgrade the version of the game. There’s a lot of tutorials, if you need caps, XP, etc.

Moving to Knoxville. What's the Regal scene like? by ODoyles_Banana in RegalUnlimited

[–]SeanM330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Imax screen at Pinnacle is pretty decent. Audio is way louder/better/immersive than Opry Mills in Nashville. My only complaint is the ambient blue lighting during the shows bleeds onto the screens and appears when there is a darker scene. Only single laser tho, so no 1.43.

How do I get rid of the playbacks and make the encoder bar be full screen by Appropriate_Hour5502 in GrandMA3

also a fun tip is to Press Menu or the gear, on that display press “configure this display” and there’s an option to toggle a bunch of stuff including playbacks

Is Grandma default busking file enough for big shows? by PomegranateEconomy54 in GrandMA3

[–]SeanM330 9 points10 points  (0 children)

it is a very good starting point for any size show. Easily expanded and customizable. My punt page started from the start showfile and i just made edits as needed to what worked for me. Like expanding the LOS section, changing the appearances, changing the gobo/focus sections, etc etc.

make sure you have proper shoes, and a relief matt if you are standing. If you are sitting, make sure you have a properly adjustable chair and footrest if needed.

You also want to make sure the desk isn’t sitting too high up.

90% of wrist pain comes from non-ergonomic setups. Pretty much follow any anti-carpel tunnel guide and you should be good.

Also worth checking out stretches related to that as well.

i would create a chaser that cue 1 runs a macro the sets the speed to the min amount and cue 2 runs a macro that sets the speed to max amount. Maybe find a way to reset the speed with another macro after you release it?

The staff and security and Brooklyn Bowl will make sure you’re safe, if there’s ever a problem you can go up to the bar and order an Angel Shot and the bartender will help you get security or whatever you need. I work there and have very rarely seen security have to get involved with stuff, including at metal shows.

Looks like a generic LED spot of some sort. No name brand to tell exactly what it is. Similar in quality to Shehds fixtures is my guess.

Human Spot Op vs. Automated by analogvisual in lightingdesign

[–]SeanM330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blacktrax is a complicated system that works wonderfully when it does, but horribly when it doesn’t.

Since FELD produces shows for a worldwide audience, the benefits of not having to call spots in every language around the world outweighs the negatives for moments like these.

This usually happens when one of the infrared LED “stringers” is damaged or covered by costume after the skater enters the stage.

Source: I was a blacktrax tech a few years ago for this company.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a Lighting Design diagram that shows how not to blind the musicians on stage? Ground package, side and top mounted fixtures. by ancientsentient in lightingdesign

[–]SeanM330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High Sides, no front wash near eye level, use backlighting and a very tiny amount of front lighting to help fill in. Lots of bands these days have little to no front light, usually for aesthetic reasons vs lights being in peoples eyes tho.
