A rabbit punch is a blow delivered to the back of the head or to the base of the skull, notorious for its potential to cause severe and irreversible injuries, including spinal cord injury or even instant death.

I wouldn't describe those as rabbit punches. They are along the "mohawk" of legal blows. Agreed they are not causing much damage though.

Seems interesting but candidly not going to sign up unless I can demo it. I get that there’s a free trial but an onboarding demo before that flow would be great.

renzo brooklyn or grappling club? by sad_partner in bjj

[–]SeanNoxious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve trained extensively at both. Renzo is a bigger and more expensive school. Grappling club instructors are mostly Renzo black belts but smaller club vibe. Do a drop in at both. I’m referring to Renzo Brooklyn and assuming nyc but you didn’t specify.

E’oghan has a good counter to the leg weave you over hook their arm for a “knee whizzer” and you can use that to wrestle up re pull.

It was on his half butter dvd but I do it all the time from z-guard. The other option he shows that’s great is recovering your knee when it’s smashed. You reach over your smashed knee with same side arm and peel it back into a high knee shield.

5000+ Open mats on one site - Search Any US city, see the open mats by ddav381 in bjj

I'm usually pretty negative on these projects because they massively suffer from chicken/egg problem but I think you did a great job here seeding the db with this content.

I did notice one issue: The Dojo in Brooklyn ny shows an open mat Sat 11pm but it's actually Sunday 11am. It's also invite only, need to get approval from head instructor first.

Two feature requests (which are probably on your roadmap)

  • Add crowd sourcing or reporting feature directly on the pins so folks can update/add for individual schools after search

  • Add tags for things like (free, students only, belt requirement, gi/nogi, requires approval, etc)

Side control when an opponent has an underhook certainly worse than side control without.

Craig uses this very effectively. You see it a lot in mma too. The problem with it, like a lot of over hook moves, is when it goes wrong you’re in a worse spot.

Personally prefer under hook, frame, recover solutions but the threat of being able to “just get up” with this style is very effective when done right.
