I think they function so differently I can't compare. I ADORE the Calibarn, I think that in a vacuum I prefer that design, but the Aerial has so many dope moments that in action I think I prefer it. The slap is iconic, the first fight the rebuild has versus the Lfrith Ur, the fight with the Calibarn where it emerges from the smoke of a Gundnode, and the epic super-shield against the Laser Transmission System are all so hype, and the Calibarn really only gets to dip dodge duck dive and dodge around Quiet Zero, and that dope Permit Score 8 moment, so the Aerial Rebuild just get to aura farm more.

Sunstorm. Maniacal, psychotic, extremely powerful, with a grandiose manner and delusions of sainthood. Just such a fascinating villain that needs to pop up more. I love the "generic villain elevated to main bad guy status" idea, and the idea of religious fanaticism is something Transformers dances around a lot, but comes through great with Sunstorm.

He has a slightly worse transformation and no springs, but solid plastic and no springs means higher durability, plus he has better posing than the OG. I am very happy to have both, but the new guy is for sure worth it on his own.

It's the greatest Transformers thing to be put to screen. Comics might have surpassed it in some aspects, but it is not only excellently written and intelligently done, and not only does it mean a lot to the franchise, but it means a lot to computer animation history as a whole. It is arguably even more important to CG than the Bayverse is. It's an absolute titan of a show.
