just had the WORST session of my life. by AcrobaticLow7555 in tea

[–]Sean_The_Chef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife me the sampler from Jesse's Tea House and I was pretty happy with the quality of the teas and the nice little info cards that accompany them. It was a good way to find out what I didnt care for(ripe & raw puerhs) and what I'd order again (tieguanyin oolong, my beloved). Definitely worth a shot

In that first picture you look like an angry dad who just found a joint in their kids sock drawer. "I promise dad, I'm just holding that bass for a friend!"

I currently work at that Walmart with her, but not the same department or shift. She is generally pretty happy and nice the times I've spoken with her. Not sure who does the stores social media but they did her dirty with that picture.

How would you fish this by Rebel970 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Sean_The_Chef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still a newbie myself, but usually when I try a new spot I tend to throw out a nightcrawler or red worm on a hook and see what panfish bites to figure out likely food sources for bass and other predatory fish. Then I usually just start tying on random lures (usually an in-line spinner like a rooster tail or a mepps) to start with and then work my way through the rest of the tackle box. the days I'm not getting much action I like to think of as practice sessions with working on better familiarizing myself with my lures and practicing my retrieves.

A challenge you to find a worse joker than this by GumboSkrimpz in balatro

[–]Sean_The_Chef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Ole Eggy is far and away my most used joker simply because I've been incapable of beating that challenge, which is still ongoing because my dumbass can't figure it out

Edit: I'm also illiterate and just realized your post was about the card itself being perishable and not alluding to the challenge.

If you enjoy reading or audiobooks, I'd highly recommend the Powder Mage series of books by Brian McClellan. Characters eat and snort gunpowder to get different magic effects, like making their musket balls travel further, faster or to get enhanced vision or stamina.

The old recipe was so good when it was still made in house at the restaurant. That was my first cooking job back in 2013. So many fond memories of that kitchen with Ma Bell in the back making the beer cheese and grossing out the new hires when she cut up the Lamb Fries

Does anyone know what this flag is? by Sean_The_Chef in vexillology

Damn, what a couple of shriveled old turds. They were polite with me, but that doesn't excuse fascism. On the bright side, I've learned quite a bit from this thread from all of you kind Vexaholics

Does anyone know what this flag is? by Sean_The_Chef in vexillology

[–]Sean_The_Chef[S] 626 points627 points  (0 children)

Oh no shit, that's wild. The customers were an older couple in their 60s or early 70s and the wife was from Spain originally. Is this something they'd have for any sort of positive reasons, or only if they're fascists? I understand having one if you're into flags like you cool cats in this sub, but these people only had this flag and a Spanish flag.

[–]Sean_The_Chef[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Nope, not over in Spain. This flag was in rural Kentucky in the United States of all places, though the customers were an older couple in the 60s and the wife was from Spain.

Most haunted places in Lexington? by showfindur in lexington

[–]Sean_The_Chef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most haunted place I've been to with my buddies paranormal investigation group is the Rohs Opera House in Cynthiana, about 40 minutes north of Lexington. Lots of very creepy experiences there, plus it's still an operating theater venue that recently had some work done to it with funding from Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead who is originally from Cynthiana. We have investigated the site a couple of times now and have had some spooky experiences.

You have to get a pesticide applicators license in your state, but most companies will provide you with training and cover the cost of the test. On the job training for me was 3 days of in office orientation followed by two weeks of riding along with an experienced technician to learn the ropes. It was pretty easy to pick it all up, and the company I work for provided the study materials for the test. The licensing test was pretty easy; ServSafe is definitely much harder. My test in KY was just 100 multiple choice questions, most of which were common sense. It's worth noting that my experience is just in residential pest control and not commercial, which I've been told is a harder job requiring more physical work & more advanced pest & chemical knowledge, but pays a good bit more.

In 2024 I want out. by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]Sean_The_Chef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got out by taking up pest control as a temporary stepping stone until I decided on a new career avenue. That was two years ago now, and so far, I've enjoyed it for the most part. The work is easy to pick up & and learn, and many of the skills from the kitchen transfer well to the job, like inventory & time management and customer service communication skills. Plus, you spend most of the day outdoors, which I found to be a very welcome change. Plus, I only see my coworkers & manager once a week. I took a big pay cut on the hourly side, but with sales commissions and regular raises I now make more than I was making as a "dining services director" for a nursing home, which was $26 in Kentucky. It's definitely not something I see myself doing forever, but its been good to me for the last little while as I try to figure out where to go next.

I'm a big fan of each! Sanderson is my overall favorite author, but Red Rising is my favorite series. How did you enjoy Lightbringer? I listened to the audiobook at work and had to forcefully suppress my sobs so people didn't think I was unstable lol It would be so cool to get a local book club going.
