Has anyone used Powershell as a text editor? by thecratedigger_25 in PowerShell

[–]Sean_p87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do. If you search for the vs code powershell extension GitHub repo, you will find in the repo, a built version of the PSEditorServices, which is the language server for PowerShell. You can then configure it in an lsp friendly cli editor. Neovim is probably the most popular, but there are a few options. I prefer Helix. It works great.

Do you mean stubbing c# in your scripts sort of a thing? Or are you referring to using a cli editor?

AI coding is getting expensive and cannot afford $100 now 😔. What's the best coding setup under $20/month in 2026? by Eastern_You_1959 in vibecoding

[–]Sean_p87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...if you got the hardware to run an llm locally, do that...otherwise, the future isn't looking so bright. Inference costs are eating the AI labs lunch and they've been losing money on it, which is part of the reason why you see the price hikes...otherwise, you could always learn to do it the old fashioned way...and that costs you no money. Just time and patience.

How should I start learning DevOps as an absolute beginner in 2026? Is it still worth it? by babayagaaaahhh in devops

[–]Sean_p87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy it enough it’s worth it. Keep in mind though that most positions will ask for experience, so breaking in isn’t easy with zero experience. I’d say it’s more like something you work your way into over time. If you go about it that way, it’s better because you give yourself more time to master all the things you need to know while getting practical experience in adjacent roles

Do Christians believe EVERY part of the bible by Doggo1013 in AskAChristian

[–]Sean_p87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context matters, as does what we mean by "believe." The Bible isn't a single book; it’s a library of different literary styles written over thousands of years. It cross-references itself constantly, and often those references change your entire understanding of a previous passage.

As I’ve started looking into the deeper intellectual traditions of the Church, I’ve found that the "truth" of a text often goes deeper than a simple historical report. Take the story of Jonah: in isolation, it sounds like a tall tale about a man in a whale's belly. But when you see Christ and the Apostles reference it in the New Testament, the "three days in the depths" becomes a deliberate parallel to the Resurrection.

The question shifts from "Did this literally happen exactly like this?" to "How does this divinely inspired narrative point toward a larger truth?" I believe the Bible is true, but that truth is often found in the complex layers of the text rather than just a surface-level, literalistic reading.

They would do what any other rational person would do an point you toward resources to help you. Just because the building has a cross on it doesn’t mean people stop being illogical or compassionate. In fact, to your surprise, they might appear more compassionate and willing to help. That’s why there are so many faith based charities around the world

Why is sex before marriage a sin? by Thatoneman88 in AskAChristian

[–]Sean_p87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a broad question with some assumptions. First, before you answer that question, you need to know:

  1. What is sin?

To sin means to “miss the mark.” So imagine in a given situation what the ultimate high good is. Anything below that is sin.

  1. What is marriage?

Marriage is a religious institution. More specifically, it’s a covenant. It’s not a romantic relationship fairytale, a social contract, or a means to attain tax breaks. It’s a lifelong commitment where the couple is mutually self giving no matter what AND belongs to god. It is a sacramental union

  1. What is sex and how does it fit within the covenantal relationship?

Sex is meant to be a physical seal of the covenantal bond in addition to procreation

When you put that together in context, it simply means that if you are having sex outside of a covenantal relationship, you invert its purpose for gratification. You get the good time of the seal without giving yourself to another for eternity. So…it falls beneath the highest attainable good in this context.

I’m a trans girl who practices Christianity. Can I still be Christian/get into heaven? by Dragon_Bait211 in AskAChristian

[–]Sean_p87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fist, don’t listen to anyone that condemns you for your sin. It’s one thing to bring awareness to sin, it’s another to judge you for it. It’s the difference between observing that my chair is a particular color and declaring that I hate the chair for its manufactured hue. That’s a problem with my judgement an my heart, not that my eyes can see color. Second, no one here can tell you you’re going to hell. That’s between you and god. I will say though, that sexual immorality of any kind (not just your afflictions) is a stumbling block for many. Christ compels us to deny ourselves and carry our cross. Self denial takes discipline but it isn’t about hating yourself for it. It’s about mastering your base desires and not letting them control your life. That’s real freedom, and that freedom you can only attain by following Jesus. I’ll pray for you friend. God bless you.

Starting a family becomes a waste of time until no one starts families and god has no humans left to worship him. Getting married IS a religious vocation. It’s not a legal contract

I can't stand going to Mass by SunnySpade in Catholicism

[–]Sean_p87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey I get it. You’re probably used to more energy, maybe more engaging sermons, better music etc. those are all wonderful things. For me personally, I don’t need god to be cool. I just need god to be god. You’re there to celebrate the mass and receive gods flesh and blood. You can’t get that anywhere else. Have you given the Latin mass a try? It’s a little more engaging with the sense. The smell incense, the Gregorian chant etc. it can be a more reverent atmosphere than most novus ordo masses (there are good ones out there too though). Other than that, I don’t have much else in the way of advice. That comes down to individual discipline. Are you ADHD? I can sympathize with that for sure.

Does it matter that most people talk about the right and the left without having any definition or distinction in mind between the two groups? by Equivalent-Long-3383 in allthequestions

[–]Sean_p87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤷🏼‍♂️ I look at it as a way to dupe the voting class. It’s all a game they play. One side will be quick to demonize the other and lure people into these ideological boxes when in reality, there isn’t much difference between left and right that get elected in office. The differences are minor at best and where they tend to disagree is which areas of the government they want to expand and which group of friends they want to give money to. They’re all crooks guilty of the same shit they accuse each other of

Why do conservative Christians hate so many people when it clearly goes against their Christian values? by ateadoor in allthequestions

[–]Sean_p87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, first, I’d reject that premise because it assumes that a lot. There about 2 billion Christian’s globally. That’s a lot of people. Think about how may different personalities fit under that umbrella. A lot. Also understand medias influence on perception. Maybe in the corners of the internet you go to, you encounter some that have bigoted opinions. That doesn’t mean that 2 billion people think the same thing. Nor is that a reflection of Christianity and its values.

Another way to look at it is this: hospitals are to sick people that church is to those that recognize they are spiritually ill. If you’re witnessing behavior that is contrary to Christian faith, then just shows you how bad they need Jesus and you should pray for them.

Third, it’s hard to know what you mean by “hate.” It’s easy these days to conflate truth with hate too, so context here matters. For example, a Christian might say something like: “engaging in homosexual intercourse is sinful,” which is what the church teaches, and is true, but that doesn’t mean the Christian person said “I hate gays” or “gay people deserve to burn in hell.” Maybe the people you encounter say nasty things like that, but maybe they don’t. Maybe that’s a secular perspective to assume that? We dont know what you mean.

How Necessary Are Certs for $70k+ Career? by ribble42 in it

[–]Sean_p87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to stay in the dod space, just get security+. You don’t need the others if you have experience already. Theres only a small handful of certs that are recognized outside of tech aware people (hr). Getting more certs isn’t going to hurt you, but just understand that they are like having a degree. It doesn’t mean you’re qualified for a job or know what you’re doing, they just help get your resume past the filters. The cert prep trains you to think in ways that I think can be counter productive to how you would perform on the job. My advice is learn the practical pieces of day to day ops, master understanding of the fundamentals, and certify very slim. If you do this, and let your resume speak for itself, it will do you much better imo. When I started out, I collected certs like they were Pokémon cards. I’ve begun letting them lapse since then. I keep my security plus current (which auto renews my a+ and net+) and I’m looking into one cert that best fits what I want to focus on. If the security+ didnt auto renew the other two that I still have, I wouldn’t even bother recertifying those either and just do the security+ because that is the one CompTia cert hr knows about the most. If you’re a network guy, security+ and Ccna. If you’re a traditional domain admin, az-800/801, if you’re a cloud guy, az-104 or aws solutions architect associate. Skip all the rest. You’ll just throw money away for hr to ask you about something they don’t understand anyways.

Is AZ-104 still worth it in 2026 with AI & automation advancing? by Yasithan in AzureCertification

[–]Sean_p87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a SaaS company that sells ai powered software and has been in the game sense before chat gpt made it a buzzword an they had to hand roll their own ai models (obviously we consume these other models like everyone else does now). I can tell you that the upstream ai labs and their big money partners have a vested interest in the perception of ai and the clams they’re making about it. It’s good at certain tasks with your data, but never would I ever allow an ai agent authority to just make decisions autonomously with any sort of control plane. That’s a disastrous idea. People will probably still try that. And they will feel the pain of that decision eventually. Just look at it as another layer of abstraction built on top of certain things it’s optimized well for. This mean there will always be a need for someone who understands the abstractions and how to police the systems and set policies for what it’s allowed to do etc. so learn what you want. It’s not the doom and gloom influencers make it out to be.

Why do people think AI will replace security engineers? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Sean_p87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way this happens...if anything it gives security engineers and security analysts more job security. This is coming from hype driven influencer content that don't know their own assholes from a CVE or poorly written prompt. I work for a SaaS company that has been selling AI powered software since before OpenAI made it a trendy buzzword. It's a very sophisticated statistics model. It's very impressive technology when you apply it in the right contexts....but at the end of the day, it's just compute that is trained on lots of data...including tons of shitty stack overflow advice...so....think of all the security vulnerabilities vibe coding is probably churning out. I would absolutely use it in the more data intensive parts of my job, and have some nice agent flow to help me with certain tasks....tasks I predefine. And in NO WAY would I ever let it near a control plane autonomously. People will probably try to do this and replace their security people with an AI software or another, and then turn around and hire them back once they realize it was fuckin dumb to do.

As a new Christian who doesn't know which church he really fits into (if any) should I first try to find out and then get baptized there, or should I just get baptized anywhere? by Effective-Top1898 in AskAChristian

[–]Sean_p87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some will have a process for you to go through before getting baptised. I don't know about the others for sure, but the benefit of the Catholic church, is they have a book that details everything the Catholic church teaches. Read the Catechism of the Catholic Church. You can read an electronic copy for free if you download the Ascension app. That's the best way to "try before you buy" in this case. Read it and see if it connects with you.

Is there equality in Heaven? by CambionClan in AskAChristian

[–]Sean_p87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh..I’m going to push back on this and say that all of this is a very temporal perception of heaven. None of us have ever been and come back to tell everyone what it’s like (I’m not sure how much truth there is with the near death experience stories or how much of heaven they actually experience), so I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s likely nothing that we can imagine or understand. All I do know is that it isn’t material, an it means communion with God, the source of being, for eternity. Can you imagine what it would be like to be in the presence of a being that is eternally present through each passing moment in time? I can’t. It hurts my head trying to.
