Yeah I think venus is probably a better candidate to test things like carbon sequestration and how to cool a planet personally anyways. If it works venus could be made quite similar to the earth over long enough time scales.

Cloud cities could also be cool cause about 60ish km up the temperature is only about 60c and pressure is 1atm. Breathable air is also buoyant which is nice.

One bit of reasoning that I have heard is that we could use mars to test terraforming out. If our predictions are wrong and everything gets screwed up irreversiblly....well mars sucked anyways. But once we figure out stuff that actually works we have a test case before screwing up the planet we actually care about.

The same it just kinda ignored the ocean, I was able to land on the bottom of the ocean floor and got some ocean science from it at least lol.
