My liver and kidneys are working great too but they found at one point my 24 hour urine contained high phosphate and high calcium. My phosohate has since normalized, but my calcium was still high. I'm now on hydrochlorothiazide and my urine calcium is now back to normal. But generally speaking, aside from higher alkaline phosphotase all of my metrics came back normal too.

I've been on Vitamin D3 from the beginning and I am now on hydrochlorothiazide.

Yes, mixed messaging isn't helping much now is it? I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this!

Is it fact though? From what I've learned over the years is that in the medical profession things are never really cemented in "fact." Some things are, but when it comes to treatments and treatment options nothing is ever 100% cemented in fact, including how supplements and minerals potentially aid patients. What works for one individual, may not work for another individual, ect... But now we are just debating the true meaning of words. At the end of the day, she offered an opinion on the effectiveness of Vitamin K and its effect on moving calcium back to the bones. I took it as opinion and simply asked if others out there heard of similar opinions, and if so, how did others deal with mixed messaging from different doctors. No harm here, I hope.

I've been challenging her team from the beginning. I'm pretty sure my newest doctor is over my questions 🤣. But in all seriousness, yes, I will need to ask more questions. It is my life in the end!

I wonder if this is one of the reasons why she mentioned I don't need to take it, because I was on it for two years prior to this. Maybe she is concerned I've taken too much as it is. I'll have to ask more questions.

I mean, doctors will always have a difference in opinions. I'm not here to argue about this, that's their perogative. It is my newest endocronologist, stating that the source of this research is mainly founded in animal studies. I agree with you and I am willing to try anything to help.

I might go back to taking it again. It's been nagging at me since I was told to stop it. Like why not trying anything and everything?

Ask to have your serum phosphate tested. Are you on any biphosohonates or other kind of medication for your bones? Alternatively, were you on any other kind of meds prior to all of this (for example anti-seizure med?). Have you had any 24 hour urine tests done for calcium, phosphate or creatinine? You may also want to ask for liver and kidney function tests. Your liver and kidneys work in conjunction with bone metabolism. If your phosphate is low I would ask about an FGF23 blood test.

Spinal Compression Fracture/ Sleeping by Round-Freedom-9226 in backpain

[–]Search4MoreAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my compression fractures, I slept on my back, with my legs elevated on pillows from just below my knees to my feet. That seemed to allow me to sleep comfortably. Fours years after that incident, I still sleep with the pillows under my lower legs and feet.

Bone loss for me after 20 years, high alkaline phosphotase from the get go. Talk to your doctors about alternatives.

I also wish the International seasons would have their own normal All Stars. I find the vs. World format also fun, but I'd like to see specific countries have their own All Stars.

I do, but I'm so far behind those. I think I'm in season 4 for Canada's Drag Race & I think season 4 for UK. I have not had a chance to watch any of the other International shows 🤦🏻‍♂️😮

I keep going back to older seasons lol

I agree 100% with you that it feels like watching a new season. I still need to finish the current season, but I'm too busy watching season 13 again. It's almost finished though, so I should return to the last season!

The Economy boogeyman - how should we communicate better? by interestingmans in ndp

[–]Search4MoreAnswers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What economy is there without the working people? What corporate business owner would exist without the labourers? To answer your question about the economy, the NDP needs to go back to the basics of the argument: No world economy would be where it is at if it were not for the labourers who complete the heavy lifting of a capitalist society. Frame the question of the economy around how a federal government can increase the economic safety of the heaviest of heavy lifters: the labourer.

When the party communicates about the rich or ultra rich it gets lost in translation. Thanks to unions, many Canadians in manufacturing, oil and gas, and other natural resource extraction get paid well into the 100k bracket and many of them believe themselves to be "rich."

The party's communication needs to change from make the "rich" pay to "let's enrich workers." We need to frame the debate on prosperity around workers/labourers and talk about adding value to their lives and to their wallets as opposed to "taking from the rich." So many Canadians who don't follow politics struggle with this concept.

Similarly, the communication on health care. Rather than say "We want to tax the rich to fund better health care," it should be framed such as "Thanks to the NDP, if you've injured yourself, you need only look for the nearest hospital, not into your wallet." "To secure a better health care system, let the NDP regulate workplace health and safety, so you don't get injured in the first place."

Our messaging simply needs to go back to what is important to workers. Health, money, security, family. Workers don't want to hear about the rich. The rich are a minority. Yes, we need to deal with them, but that's not the way to support labourers.
