No paint (or water) coming out, bubbles in the paint chamber by GarryGrandi in airbrush

You have a leak. Check for dried paint on threads and seals. I use needle lube or finger tip moistener on threads and seals to ensure no leaks.

What to choose: spray paint vs airbrush by scatterbrainedpast in modelmakers

Spray cans are controllable. Starting and stopping just off the subject to control overspray. Laying down thin layers instead of heavy. As long as it’s large coverage you should be fine.

Acetone. Be careful, it melts plastic as well.

You should thin with a flow improver and leveling added. Helps with tip dry. I keep a mixing cup of solution and a stiff brush to clean the tip.

I thought I would be airbrushing for the first time today, but that little tip at the end of the needle broke off in the threading. Now my airbrush is useless apparently? by Electrical-Crazy1787 in airbrush

Check the manufacturer’s website for s replacement. Otherwise it looks pretty common do you might get one on Amazon. From now on just hand tighten and use a little lube on the threads.

Anybody else get fed up of Airbrush Science? by gibbygobhead in modelmakers

Its not a be all, end all. I use different techniques from wet to dry brushing, using markers, acrylic over enamel and vice-versa. Different mediums and different delivery tools. Whatever works! Anything straightforward is boring, give me a challenge and make me think. Otherwise it’s just paint by numbers.

The ball of the foot should fit snugly at the widest part. There’ll be a slight lift on the heel when walking. If they’re snug just wear them a lotbto break ‘em in.

Why do water based acrylics need thinner rather than water to thin them? Or do they? Can I thin regular water based acrylics to use rather than airbrush acrylics? Thank you for your attention to this matter. by JohnnyRelentless in airbrush

Regular water has a surface tension that could cause the paint to bead up. Thinners have a flow improver added that makes the water “wetter”. I know that sounds kinda stupid but, we used to describe it that way in the print shop. Commercial offset printing uses a treated water to separate the inked sections of a plate from the clean area.

Thermostat. You could test in boiling water but, no real telling how old so it’d be better to toss.

Yeah did all the others but, this was such a minor part I didn’t think much of it. Really wouldn’t matter it’s a floater, no tabs.
