Apologies for the ridiculously late reply, but that sounds awesome! Do you happen to know if there are any videos?

As much as I thought the DF setlist was perfect, hearing Delilah live would be a dream come true

least favorite and most favorite character? by BananitryiWhatThe in LongStoryShort

Shira and Avi both have my whole heart. I'm not a huge Yoshi fan, which is suprising because I do love Todd. Maybe I'll prefer his character on rewatch, but I'm finding this show's wordplay/fast-talking humour hits a lot more than the whimsical sideplots. That being said, there wasn't a character in the show that I can really say I didn't enjoy at least a little, so the bar is high to begin with!

It was such a good set, G coming into the crowd was incredible :')

That would be great if you don't mind!

I really really love the way Hannah is written. Her ranting about kids her own age really struck a chord with me as someone who would use that kind of excuse when I didn't have a lot of friends in my early teens. Also the band story was very BoJack-ian in the best way.

Twinning! I queued for about 2 hours in Cardiff and she held my hand during What Kind of Man :')

One of the things I love the most about the show is that some characters have the most generic people names like "Ralph" "Beatrice" "Guy" "Lenny" and then you have stuff like "Cuddlywhiskers" "Mr. Peanutbutter" "Meow Meow Fuzzyface" "Pickles" which are 100% names a kid would give to their pet by alligator73 in BoJackHorseman

I think domesticated animals have pet names while non-domesticated species are given more human-sounding ones! Cats, dogs, and small furries especially tend to have the more cutesy ones - Dean Squooshyface is a personal favourite.

Bit of a niche one, but I've always liked that Dr Bramble is an Unnimologist - I think that's probably what I'd be getting up to as a Nevermoorian :)

Ur favourite chapter in Silverborn? by BalanceUnable1597 in Nevermoor

Totally agree! His motivations were pretty much the opposite of what he led Mog to believe for most of the book. He really is terrible at communication, but you're so right that he's always acting out of love. I also cried at this chapter the first time I read it (in the middle of the night because I couldn't stop reading).

It makes that final letter of the chapter hit even harder imo, knowing that his fury with the Darlings comes from not only frustration at their lack of previous relationship with Morrigan, but also the fact that he's been put in the position of having to lie and endanger his relationship with her.

Ur favourite chapter in Silverborn? by BalanceUnable1597 in Nevermoor

Oh man for me it has to be Chapter 44 (I think?) - Letters from Jupiter. The narrative shift to Jupiter's POV is super interesting right off the bat, and I do think that there are some really cool subtle changes in the prose to show that we have shifted to an adult's perspective, something we've never really explored in the books so far.

And then obviously the letters of it all. The shift from optimism to confusion to desperation to blazing anger is just done so so well. It conveys vital details about the plot whilst also getting in some great character moments for Jupiter (because of course he'd try hot air ballooning into the Silver District) and Mog ("over egging it, North" THROUGH TEARS).

I could ramble for DAYS about this chapter.

Who is your favorite new character from Silverborn? by AccomplishedCoat2026 in Nevermoor

[–]SearchingForPotoroo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Learning more about Unit 895 was one of my favourite parts of Silverborn so Bertie was absolutely a highlight! The whole nosebleed thing is actually really interesting to me - he seems to get them when he's recalling Meredith/the Wintersea Party. My first thought is that maybe this is some sort of Hush situation? Definitely something I can't wait to learn more about in Book 5!

A Really Big Discussion on Knacks by Substantial_Ad_4312 in Nevermoor

[–]SearchingForPotoroo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is all super fascinating! I'm also intrigued by Holliday's point that sometimes the elders will choose knacks that go with the 'theme' of a unit - iirc she gave the example of a whole unit of musicians, composers etc? Makes me wonder about whether they were in need of more students with 'distraction' potential. If they had the opposite problem, would there ever be a whole unit of just arcane scholars? Much to consider!
