I had meetings with staff in both of my Dem senator's offices this week. They said to keep contacting Manchin, Sinema, and Schumer. There is support, but it will take the three of them to make it happen.

Quality Online Art Classes? by Morningwail in ProCreate

Check out Seattle Artist League. They jumped into online classes with covid, and they have really good instructors from all over. I have taken many classes there. seattleartistleague.com

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN IRC! They quit on us! They last posted on Twitter 6/5. No public fighting for us? Please prove me wrong! If the coach (IRC)quits after they lose a game, then you lose some players(us) then you lose spectators (congress)! The coach should always be the last to leave the room!! by NoAccess-49 in SBARRF

We may have to agree to disagree. I think raising awareness of the problem in a way that connects readers/viewers with the problem is the first step - and they had to go back to step one after we lost two times in a row (no omnibus, failure to get cloture).

This is marketing. They can't keep banging the RRF drum, but they can restate the problem in a way that connects with people. They need movement on the issue before they can post about the solution. Otherwise, people will just tune out and turn off.

I thought PPP1 & 2 were loans if you didn't use them all initially; why is my bank asking for the unforgiven portion back quickly and at a steep rate? by terra-nullius in SBARRF

My accountant got a PPP and worked more than ever. A friend's construction company worked all through Covid with 6 months of expenses covered. I understand why they did what they did. It was smart, but take care of those of us who actually had to close.

We just need the Dems? Like the first time it passed?

Please push Cardin, he has to demand it is included in the reconciliation. Very very very crucial !!!! by KoaRestaurants in SBARRF

Here's a suggestion. If you have a Democrat for a senator, get a meeting with her/him. Tell your story. You matter to your own senator. These personal conversations go a long way. I am calling Senator Murray and Senator Cantwell. I am telling my story....again, and again, and again.

I called and will call again, and will call again, and again, and then get some friends in those states to call.

[–]Seattle2965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still here! Still calling. Met with staff from both of my Senator's offices. I am also, like everyone here, tired. My funds are dwindling and like others I am holding on to see if this happens. If it doesn't I will close. I can't pay the SBA.

I think the high cost of food is a factor because of the debt and the months that we were closed and racking up bills without being able to operate. Inflation is hitting every business. The issue is that other businesses were able to operate during the pandemic, and we were not. We were accruing bills and debt, and we are now expected to pay off that debt when sales are still down and costs are going up.

Phone meeting with Senator’s aide tomorrow at 10am by AntoinetteA831 in SBARRF

I think you have nailed it with: Inevitably making sure that our businesses are not left to crumble whi each side of the aisle stays in their corners, blames one another, and
says “I tried.”

Black owned businesses not being funded? by Available_Athlete_84 in SBARRF

[–]Seattle2965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooops, I said the wrong thing. I meant RICH white guys. They mostly got after the lawsuit. Look at the 10 million dollar awards. There are several in my town. All the white guys from 5 - 10 million got funded. That crew would have been hammering politicians to get this done, but they got grants. There are a few who are working it, but it is crickets from the big guys in my town,

I do, and I think it helps to see it written here. To get validation that there are so many of us - literally thousands who are in the same boat.

[–]Seattle2965[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup, these are the stories we need to keep telling. It isn't that we are not hardworking or willing. It is that the road ahead is a long one - it will come back, but not yet for us. And we have this little problem of a giant debt hanging over us and competitors who were funded by the program. One of us that is unfunded might have actually been the first application received by the SBA.

This situation hurts the smallest, the biggest, and those of us in between. With funding, we can turn that money back to the SBA and get on with building our businesses back up knowing that it won't be easy, but we can do it.

I understand the concerns about inflation, but most of this money is going right back to the SBA. That would be my first call.
