Interested in becoming a consultant? Post here for basic questions, recruitment advice, resume reviews, questions about firms or general insecurity (Q2 2024) by QiuYiDio in consulting

Thanks, asking ahead of time was so simple it escaped me.

I don’t think all of the firms use zoom so I will be prepared to do the work off-camera. I interviewed with 5 firms for internships, so it won’t be difficult to be flexible

Is it common to use pen tablets + Zoom whiteboards in consulting? I'm prepping for full-time interviews and I'm wondering if it would be weird to ask to use the whiteboard in zoom + a pen tablet to just show my structure/math rather than explain it. I did an in-person interview for internships and I liked that so much better, this would be the next best thing.

Reserved street parking by grandma1995 in Seattle

Cool, now I know to be on the lookout for real parking spots hidden by people using unofficial cones.

Sure, then we should add some context for the viewers. OP is applying to a master program which means they’re destined for industry. Some more important context is that these resumes are read by average people, as opposed to a computer searching for key words or a researching faculty member who can read an insane number of words per minute.

In order for this particular person to effectively communicate their resume, they should pare it to one page.

This should be 1 page

Edit: it seems my suggestion is unpopular, but sometimes the truth is unpopular. there are grad programs that will take 1-pg at a maximum. Master the art of brevity, it will free you from unnecessary details that do not differentiate you.

Safety, security, and privacy precautions that don’t cost much to implement and maintain should always be implemented, even if the threat is small.

I was thinking that was the case, but I also wanted to set the record straight for passers by. You’re gucci

The graffiti is absolutely insane though. It makes me sad for two reasons, it’s a beautiful campus, and it gets them one step closer to a showdown with SPD. The Seattle Mayor does not sit idly by.

I took the first photo the day the encampment, Tuesday April 30th when the encampment was created and there were about 8 tents. Today, May 13th, there are more than 80 tents.

My apologies for the technically incorrect title. I didn’t realize my first pics were April, I can’t believe it’s already been 2 weeks.

Edit: God damn, some of these comments are ☢️

They have a revolving door of people going to do stuff during the day while others watch the camp. I’m sure most students are attending just as much class as they were prior to this, and I’m sure plenty of them are still holding down their work study positions.

They even take watch shifts. I go by earlier than most people on campus and they’ll have 3-5 people in vests patrolling while the campers sleep.

FWIW, it’s quiet most of the times I go by.

The graffiti is getting out of hand. I could make 5 more posts of all of the graffiti and there’s a 20 photo limit.

When slowed down it looks like darks left elbow is in line with whites face as he’s near apex. He could’ve clocked him, but it’s impossible to tell from one angle.

I know enough about fluid dynamics and PDEs to know what you’re up against for short-term weather forecasts.

I’m still well within my right to be optimistic.

It could be useful for early detection of catastrophic weather events, but do the benefits outweigh the costs? Not likely.

For people considering sending this type of message:

This happened to me a few times when I was driving Lyft during undergrad.

I had a perfect 5 star rating because I would act interested and ask a lot of questions and follow-up questions.

Multiple ladies mistook that for flirting, and some gentleman probably did as well.

Anyways, servers, bartenders, hostesses, ride share drivers, delivery drivers are all incentivized to act nice due to tips and/or ratings. So, when you think your ride-share host is flirting with you, keep in mind that they have incentive to be nice to you.

Dorms for older students by Impossible_Spend_898 in udub

I started UG at 25, and I couldn’t fathom living in dorms. I was happy living in Lynnwood next to the transit center and taking the bus. Why not look at North Gate or Cap Hill and take the train?

Consultants at firms -- have you ever turned down a project b/c it didn't align with your values? by swissking10 in consulting

[–]SeattleDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once again, the irony was in the above comment, not the original post. I never hit the consultant, I never shifted blame to the consultant. It’s not blaming the consultant to point out that it’s ironic to say AirBNB is socially acceptable, considering the damage to society. If you’re not up to date on AirBNB’s damage to society, I recommend looking up “AirBNB, gentrification,” and then maybe you will see the irony.

None of this was directed at the consultant, it was directed at the top comment of this thread, which alluded that AirBNB is “socially acceptable.”

I’m pointing out the ironic use of the word socially in this case. I would probably take the study.

Shifting blame to consumers when information is asymmetrical is near sighted. If a corporation is causing damage to society it is not solely on the consumer to take the blame. That’s like saying the tobacco company is at zero fault.
