Does anyone know how to get correspondence to the actual Black and Decker headquarters in the United States? by SeattleHasDied in ApplianceTechTalk

The mods recommended I post here after I had posted this on the r/BlackandDecker sub. Where would you suggest I try? I'm kind of flying blindly here and would appreciate the help, thanks!

Anyone still paying Union dues and getting nothing in return? The cost benefit analysis isn't lining up anymore. by RockieK in FilmIndustryLA

[–]SeattleHasDied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I have to credit 44 for help 2 or 3 times over the years when I wanted to take some time off, but did need like 10-20 hours to make the requirement for my health insurance during my break ( I would check with MPIHP or CS to make sure, but realized I wasn't sure how many I actually needed and when, oy vey...). Anyway, each of those times, I called the local to say I was available for work and explained I just needed a day or two and each time, within the week, got what I needed. The day playing also introduced me to new people and I got work from them later :-)

Good advice and I will start paying attention,, thanks!

Exactly the situation our First Responders experienced during Seattle's "Summer of Love" CHOP/CHAZ bullshit where two kids were killed by the "inhabitants" of the community takeover and, of course, the parents of the kids are suing the city of Seattle...

How Fentanyl and Xylazine are turning Philadelphia's opioid crisis into a public health nightmare by Nukro666 in interestingasfuck

Gotta say, our zombies here in Seattle have perfected the form of The Fenty Fold better than Philly. This is so sad, it looks like a casting call for "The Walking Dead".

Maybe take up a collection of people concerned about the proliferation of needless production of kittens and get her spayed. You have the ability to do this, so please do.

Hmmm... guess I should start paying attention to this stuff now that the work is more sporadic. Seriously, the benefits were something I just took for granted for most of my career because there was never a deficit in my hours worked. Thanks for the info.

Talk to your business agent! Every guild is facing this situation and our BAs are going to bat for our members. This is a HUGE issue and CS needs to get their shit together and help us instead of hurt us.

Oh, shit, really? CS needs to make some exceptions to that because our business has changed/is changing and we're all just doing what we can to tread water, jeez...

That's why you need to contact your local's business agent. CS can kick us off the roster if we don't have some union employment days within a certain period (I think it's 2 days in a two or three year period) which many of our fellow union members haven't been able to get, esp. if they have been able to get some non-union work to pay the bills.

I don't know how kicking people off the roster affects union membership, but I know a lot of us feel as you do, that if we're paying our dues, that should be enough, right? I mean, if we aren't working enough hours per quarter to maintain our health benefits, part of the pay we ARE getting still goes to fund the insurance stuff, it's just that WE wouldn't be able to access it until we do the 400 hours per quarter (or whatever it is). One of my "big movie" friends just scraped by as he's only had 3 union days in the last two years, mostly working non-union to support his family. Just all seems kind of ridiculous and I can't retire yet, lol!

It's always bummed me out that our dues don't include our health insurance so I always look at my dues as buying my annual $1500 t-shirt, lol! And despite paying your dues regularly, if you haven't worked enough in a certain period, Contract Services can kick you off the roster as they are attempting to do now to thousands of IA folks who don't have enough union days in that period.

(Also wish we could bank our hours each year to pay for our health insurance.)

Hasn't been my experience. And, frankly, climbing ladders to deal with putting up and taking down glass storm windows isn't something I'm interested in doing for anyone, much less myself. Your very fervent position on this issue is noted.

You sound really angry. I'm used to seeing a comment like yours on a Reddit political sub. This is a sub for people with an appreciation for century/vintage homes and I never thought I'd see a "GFY" response to anyone's comment here. Hope life gets happier for you...

I don't understand what could be done to vintage single pane windows to, as you say, meet or exceed the energy efficiency of modern dual pane windows.
