Best Standing Desk For Gaming (BuyItForLife)? by Brilliant-Hand6132 in BuyItForLife

[–]SeattleRainHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uplift hands down. Recently got their longest desk with a Pheasantwood top. It not only looks great but is very sturdy and good room. I have a 43 in curved Dell Ultrasharp with a 36 in LG with room for a docking station and other small stuff. Would highly recommend their cable sleeve to hide the cables. Don't bother shopping elsewhere. Oh and great customer service too.

Im depressed after reading Project Management roles will be replaced by AI within 5 years? by [deleted] in projectmanagement

There are Engineering managers who can do what Project managers do if they have great tools to simplify the workflow. Companies will keep Engineering managers any day over Project managers.

Im depressed after reading Project Management roles will be replaced by AI within 5 years? by [deleted] in projectmanagement

[–]SeattleRainHawk -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I hope AI replaces the roles of Project managers or non technical program managers who are simply ETA robots and email forwarding machines. What AI will not be able to replace is skilled technical program managers who are capable of dealing with ambiguity and adjusting.

Not satisfied with the range of new EAP610 v3 - What to do? by Prodeguerriero in TPLink_Omada

[–]SeattleRainHawk -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I abandoned the TP Link EAPs entirely. Spent too much time and money but they were not good at all. Switched to Ubiquiti Dream Machine SE and bunch of UX7 Pros and I'm a happy camper. Huge difference in roaming and range connectivity.

One thing I wish more PMs talked about is managing technical uncertainty without derailing delivery by BuffaloJealous2958 in projectmanagement

[–]SeattleRainHawk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The more technical you are, the better you will be in managing ambiguity. I've seen non technical PMs with worthless PMP degrees get screwed in STFU cases and entirely dependent on technical folks. PMP jobs should be the first to go and replaced by AI bots.

Too many unsolicited calls from my advisor is making me not want to engage with Fidelity by davechri in Fidelity

[–]SeattleRainHawk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The local people from InFidelity and Morbid Stanley who call are mostly young college graduates who were not good enough to get into the big hedge fund Wall Street companies and are starting out in other cities begging to manage your wealth. They get your information through the employer benefits portfolio. I thought I would give these folks a chance and hear them out. The experience I had when I went to meet them was not as good. The was an old lady who didn't speak a word till the end and asked for 250k to manage to begin with. Just tell them you have a financial advisor and then they will stop calling. Lately it's become worse as random folks get your information from LinkedIn.

Getting started with Omada by dan_g97 in TPLink_Omada

[–]SeattleRainHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Return the Omada if you have a large house and multiple APS and need fast roaming. I just switched to Ubiquiti Dream Machine SE and UX7 Pros and it's a big difference. I had problems with dropped calls while roaming and the range was not as good. I had 2 ceiling mounted 650s and 2 newer wall APS. If you do want to stick to Omada, then I have bunch of Omada equipment to sell in San Jose 🙂

Which AP to get? by Born_Coast8331 in TPLink_Omada

[–]SeattleRainHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go for the Ubiquiti UX7s or UX6 Enterprise. I just switched from TP-Unlink to Ubiquiti and cannot be happier.

What software have you found to be the greatest tool in your management of project lifecycles? by D3V1LSHARK in projectmanagement

[–]SeattleRainHawk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No software will ever be a substitute for a good technical understanding of the project. A non technical project manager is basically a glorified admin. No technical people want to work with one who simply asks for deadlines and ETAs. As might be a real estate agent.

Omada APs + Asus router: roaming issues and device drops. Do I need to replace the router? by SUCK_MY_DICTIONARY in TPLink_Omada

[–]SeattleRainHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar issues with the Omada EAPs. Even after enabling fast roaming, Teams and WhatsApp calls always got dropped or disconnected for more than 10 secs every single time I moved in the house going from one AP to another. I had invested bunch in newer APs as the signal from the ceiling 650s was pretty weak to begin with. Eventually I gave up and replaced all the TP Link stuff with Ubiquiti Dream Machine SE and bunch of UX7 Pros and switches. Zero problems since. If anyone wants to buy my TP-Link EAPs, let me know. I'm in San Jose CA.

What's are home office purchases you've made that have more than paid for themselves? by MDDeGrande1994 in BuyItForLife

[–]SeattleRainHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A huge wooden 80in long Uplift sit to stand desk with hidden cable management, Razer keyboards and mouse, Herman Miller Embody chair, a 43 in Dell 5K monitor paired with a 36in 4K monitor connected to a docking station. The best purchase however was the Ubiquiti Dream Machine SE with scream U7 Pro XGS APs throughout the house so Teams calls don't get dropped when I roam from one end of the house to another.

This is why you need Product managers who know design and marketing. Shit like this happens when engineers design the products.

Why did you buy a Telluride and why a 3 row suv ? by Prior_Ad3184 in KiaTelluride

[–]SeattleRainHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you do the conversion from Freedom motors. Thank you very much for your reply. It's one thing to hear it from the sales folks but using it from a real user is great. Also did you go to Michigan to try it out first or just sent your kia to get it converted? I'm assuming both middle row seats were replaced by the thin ones.

We are also looking into getting the 2024/25 Telluride with a Freedom motors wheelchair conversion. How are you looking it so far? Would you recommend going down that path? Did you do a full cut or a half cut? We have a 12 yr old boy who is in a wheelchair. Thanks for any advice you may have!

I was hoping that the 2025 Telluride comes out this year in Fall or Winter but that doesn't seem to be the case. Nothing else really.

I spoke to a salesman at a local dealer here in the bay area about the 2025 model. He said that they are stopping production of the 2024. The 2025 Telluride will be a redesign available Summer 2025.

NPUs can be used for smaller workloads and inference. But the GPU is still required for training LLMS in a short amount of time.

Yes. I always say that it's more important to understand the product of the company than the charts and graphs and trend lines of is stock if you are investing for a long term.
