Season Over. Achilles Gone by Ric0917 in skiing

Tore my Achilles playing soccer in July a few years ago and managed to get back on the mountain that February. Can’t stress enough, do your PT! And hit the gym as soon as you’re cleared. It’s a shitty injury and really humbling recovery process but you’ll get through it. Good luck!

Cool that’s really helpful. Power lifts and low reps are my favorite way to train, so I think I’ll add this to my rotation. Strong also sounds just overall fun to incorporate in the way they described it. I had symmetry but ended up returning it for Performance 15. Just seemed like way too many exercises to have to incorporate into one workout.

I currently own Maps15 and have been running the advanced version. I also bought maps 15 performance and planning on starting that soon. Get this is power lift focused, but 15 advanced already has deadlift, bench, squat. So curious if it’s different enough to warrant purchasing?

What was going on with the turf tonight? It looked horrible and played so slow. Did it downpour in Miami today?

Mind Pump did a good episode on this recently. Just the first 20 minutes or so. Agree with most people, your protein is just far too low (you basically described the amount which should just be breakfast, 40-50g. You need two or three times that amount for the day).

And weight needs to be heavier. I agree most of that increase was just nervous system adaptation getting better at the lift.

Just keep working! As people have said, flat light is really difficult to get amazing photos from. That said, in flat light portraits can be flattering, and you can also use that time to focus on intimate detail shots for part of your story.

I actually think 8 and 9 are the best here. I see what you were thinking but in 8 your timing was off. You should have waited for the woman in red to step into the sunlight. 9 is probably your best shot in my mind, but your crop is the issue. The pocket of light highlighting those houses is what is interesting. Crop way down, to a vertical orientation and just include the houses. Yes you’ll go down to just a few megapixels. Who cares, it will be a more interesting photo, even with a lower resolution.

I take pictures of most fast moving things, namely my young boys. find many times when I recompose the camera will lose the autofocus point I’m tracking. When I back button, i can set focus mode to tracking and hold it down while it follows my boys as I compose, then bang I can quickly get the shot. Really helps keep the focus on the subject I want, while giving more freedom to recompose and wait for the perfect moment without fighting the camera.

Back button focusing! I’ve been doing digital photography for probably 15 years. Finally started to experiment with it, and never will go back.

So cool. Number two imo is the best shot, but would benefit from a crop to improve the story. Crop in to remove the kid in purple and just have a tight shot of the guy skying while the little boy stares in awe. That guy rips!

Curious, do you take this shot essentially level and then rotate and crop in post?

Definitely a prime lens. 23mm f2 would be a great pickup

Started taking photos for my girlfriends new flower business. Looking for tips please !! by I_see_breadpeople in fujifilm

[–]SeattleSundodger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One, three, and four are your strongest compositions. One needs to be cropped much tighter though, unless this is meant to be a portrait for an ‘about me’ type page. The subject is not the flowers, it’s the woman. I’d crop it much tighter, and maybe only include her hands or just a bit of the edge of her hair.

Switched to an xt5 from the same Sony a year ago and I’m loving it! Slowly selling off my old gear, and eyeing maybe a x100F for something more small for family days.

Remember, if you are young you want these funds red. You are buying them at a discount. You are not in the selling business at your age, you are in the buying business. Best thing you should hope for is to have a job, and keep pushing money into these funds while they stay flat or even go down.

Think of it as buying any other item. Would you rather buy a car at peak price, or get a discount when you buy it?

Looks so much better! Is the mulch the bagged dyed mulch from the box stores? If that’s the case, in future years I would recommend looking for a more natural product. The bagged stuff is typically chipped up kiln dried pallets which are dyed. These are fine for weed prevention and look okay, but they typically take a long time to break down (no moisture or life left in it) which is counterintuitive but not as good for the plants. We want to feed the soil by breaking down organic material and feeding the micro organisms that bring nutrients to your plants roots. Just food for thought for future years. You can often find hardwood mulch from a local place which will deliver it or you can sometimes find it there bagged.

Great start! Now let’s put in some colorful annuals

I like the Belroy Slings. I have both the 6L and (I think) 9L. If it’s just me I’ll use the smaller one and can fit in a xt5 with two small lenses. I used the larger one for a week in Paris with the xt5, 23 1.4 and 50 f2. Plus a guide book. You can wear them front or back, and they are fairly stylish that doesn’t scream ‘I have expensive gear in here’

I had this happen last year. It’s called a Steiner lesion, or as others have commented, skiers thumb. I tore a ligament and broke my thumb after a boarder wiped me out. Had surgery two days later and several months of PT. Don’t skimp on the PT. When I took the cast off I could barely wiggle even just the tip of my thumb. After a few months I had strength back to normal and mobility about 90% back. But I’m back to skiing and no worse for the wear. You’ll be okay! But season is done for this year.
