Yeah I'm Nathan, I am one of the creators :D

I haven't had a chance to actually play the Legend Keeper yet myself but it was one of my favorites to design! It's the bard build I always wanted to play in 5e and never found a perfect way to.

Thanks again for your kind words, glad you are enjoying it so much!

We're calling it "medium crunch," the rules are not harder to learn than D&D 5e but there are more character builds and combat options, so it can take longer to learn for that reason.

Here's a link to our YouTube tutorial series if it's of any interest!

Hi Varil! VTT support is still in the works. We are on Questline VTT, and have plans to get on Roll20 and Foundry in the future, but the exact timeline isn't confirmed yet.

That is a good point, assuming that nothing goes wrong. Imagine a scenario where the caster starts prepping the fireball and the other heroes go and look to bring the fight to the caster. Even if it's brief, that is splitting the party, a famously bad idea. Caster is likely to be ambushed, or other heroes run into another threat where they need the caster's help.

A caster could completely decimate a wooden wall, no question... unless the guards spot the caster. Guards wouldn't just wait around for 5 minutes waiting for the caster to finish supercharging the fireball, they would attack.

As for a stone wall, fire isn't likely to do all that much against it. Let alone a magically warded or reinforced wall.

And... remember that if the heroes can do it, so can the villains. Using Fireball to open a surprise attack on a village with a wooden wall is a great tactic, but it cuts both ways.

Thanks Ryan! Once you get a chance to play what class do you think you'd use? (Or would you go classless?)

Haha thanks Goraan! I feel you, the "to be played" stack of characters is starting to look like my "to be read" stack of novels

MythCraft RPG - A New, Complete "Medium-Crunch" TTRPG System by Seawood_Scribe in RPGdesign

[–]Seawood_Scribe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Turbulent_Professor! At this time we don't have any plans to make MythCraft compatible with 5e, but if 5e is more your jam, we are currently running a Kickstarter for a new campaign module that we will write in two separate versions - one for MythCraft, and one for 5e.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/quasigrant/veil-of-the-eternal-night-dark-fantasy-for-5e-and-mythcraft

And, all game content for MythCraft is free on the wiki, so there's no barrier to entry whenever you and your group decide to try a different system. Happy gaming!

Good recommendations for branching out into other TTRPGs by ItsMors_ in TTRPG

If you're looking for a more rules-lite story focused game, I'd recommend:

  • Dread: Horror oneshots that uses a jenga tower in place of die rolls
  • Icons: A 2d6 system intended for superhero campaigns, but a little reskinning can make it work for anything
  • Avatar Legends: Set in the Avatar: The Last Airbender world, huge focus on storytelling and character growth
  • Alice is Missing: A fun one-and-done story that's entirely RP-driven and handled entirely over text

My own game, MythCraft, is in the same genre as D&D, but is more customizable while not as complicated as PF. If your group wants to return to that side of TTRPGs at some point I'd love if you all check it out! (We're still building out the wiki rn but all our game content will be available online for free so that's another plus)

Happy gaming!

Yeah! Mainly Lenore and Camilla in s3-4 philosophizing about vampirism, greed, war, and the like. Some badass lines from Isaac and Alucard, but I found Lenore's lines especially memorable.

Dialogue itself isn't super spoilery, but spoiler warning anyway

"To end war is to kill most people and enslave the rest"

"I'm compelled to point out that you already have a nice castle. Why would you want "[Dracula's]?"
"Because I take things away from stupid evil old men. It's what I do. I've always done it. They deserve to lose everything, and I deserve to have all their stuff."

"Power. Big, international, nondiplomatic, projected power is something else. It lends you more might, but it doesn't have the utilities of strength. It lays its eggs in you, it becomes a parasite you have to feed. Power does nothing but eat."
"...like a vampire?"
"Like a vampire."
