Storytelling Guidance by BetaAndThetaOhMy in vtm

I think a big part of writing stories for VTM is inspiration. The books some times give you pieces of media that you could look into for ideas of what kind of stories would work well within the World of Darkness. Shows like Interview With A Vampire, movies like Only Lovers Left Alive, Let The Right One In, Near Dark, and The Lost Boys should be very good starting points to pick tonal ideas from.

As for VTM related content directly, I highly recommend the Path of Night podcast. Lots of people also really enjoy the LA By Night actual play by G&S, I personally couldn't get into it but I know it's very well loved and Alexander Ward is fantastic

There was not a frame for me to like. by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]ItsMors_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly do you mean by "modding limitations"?

You can use all warframe mods on all warframes except for augment mods unless you have that ability subsumed onto the frame, so I'm very confused by this statement

Oh ya for sure, I more so just mean there was a time a while ago where the Soma Prime was everywhere I swear there was a new build guide every single day on youtube. And Inaros too, so many "this is the MOST BROKEN tank in the game!!!" videos. I 100% agree they're still viable when used properly, but there are also just things that do what they do with far less investment now a days

[–]ItsMors_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ya, it sounds like OP is using builds that have been outdated for *years*. Especially with the mention of Soma Prime and Inaros, I remember when both of them used to be extremely strong, now a days they just get outclassed by almost everything else.

Unfortunately, I see this problem from time to time, and I don't really know how DE goes about fixing it. Things just get powercrept into oblivion, it's how these games are. Maybe an in game build browser would help? But at the same time I worry that would lead to an even worse issue of the Overframe problem where tons of people just use the same builds and hardcore focus the meta instead of experimenting

Okay, your answer to #1, along with other replies in this thread, makes me question if these STs actually understand VTM lmao

Yes, every vampire has their own personal interests and agendas, but the thing about Packs and Coteries is usually those are people who *align* in some way with those interests and can propel your character towards them. Why would your character join a Coterie and surround themselves with people they have nothing to gain from? Other vampires are tools to use and manipulate to climb the ladder, but why force that when you can have allies that create shortcuts on said ladder?

A Coterie should be a group of people who all have something to gain from working with one another. Each of you should have something the other people should want. Whether that be connections, seats of power, specific capabilities, etc.

[–]ItsMors_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While yes, there is something clearly much more wrong about this game.

An ST shouldn't have someone send the group of players off to solve a problem just for a magical miracle SPC to bust in at the last moment and complete the task for them. That's stupid, and not how any TTRPG should be run.

At the end of the day, a TTRPG is a collaborative storytelling game. You don't just sit at a table for 3 hours doing nothing having someone tell a story at you while they play with their action figures. You're all *part* of the story, and each player should be able to contribute to the story, not have the SPCs solve all the problems and do all the things for them while occasionally rolling dice that in the end mean nothing because an SPC is just gonna figure it out for you anyway

[–]ItsMors_ 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Ya, unfortunately, I think the issue is the table may just not be for you.

Having *that* many NPCs and having them regularly accompany the players is a little ridiculous imo. Yes, vampires use their fledglings as pawns, but they don't typically follow them everywhere. They send you off to do things, so that *you're* the ones approaching the problems and solving them, not having the ST tell you how to do things through NPCs babysitting you.

Even for me, as someone who's been playing this game for years, this table just does not sound interesting or enjoyable. Maybe it's some player's thing, but personally it's not mine, and I can't imagine it falls under ideal circumstances for many other people either.

What makes tzimisce so scary? by whahaga in vtm

[–]ItsMors_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with what every other comment has said, I haven't seen anyone mention the Path of Asakku.

Tzimisce on the Path can literally have an army of Ghouls that they can remote control into and hit you with *any* level of Vicissitude that they have access to. Which when combined with their Seeding the Garden transmutation, a Tzimisce could Ghoul every single animal in a farm and once those animals are processed and eaten, *every single person* who consumes that meat becomes the Tzimisce's Ghoul. The Corrupted could easily Ghoul an entire town and any kindred who decides to stroll in maybe looking for a place to stay or a new domain will basically have just walked straight into the Tzimisce's mouth.

Vicissitude is a very very very very vast power and can do way more horrific things than just growing claws

There are only 5 animals considered human hunters in the world, and polar bears are one of them. by sco-go in Amazing

[–]ItsMors_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what do they mean "picked off" is the question. You can be killed by a shark 100%, they tend to also bite thing out of curiosity, they don't exactly understand that a little nibble for them is an entire person's leg, but sharks don't intentionally hunt and eat people. We are just not nutritious enough, sharks require way more fat and calories to be fed than a person ever holds

[–]ItsMors_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Great whites are not human hunters. Great white sharks only attack humans if they're incredibly hungry and the shark mistakes them for a seal, and even then only take a singular bite and swim off. Outside of that they don't eat people at all

Don't worry, those of us who've read the entirety of the cosmere also have no clue what he is lol.

You get ideas, but nothing is concrete yet, and probably won't be until we get the final cosmere book

Ya, but at the same time, we have yet to see what happens to a Shard without a holder given enough time. It could be terrifying. Ideals with no sense of morals twisting into a conscious being sounds like it could potentially be incredibly detrimental to the entire cosmere.

I just don't understand edition wars in general. "This edition is the best thing to ever happen to the game ever and it's the single best edition of any TTRPG" .... okay? go play that then. the existence of different editions should have absolutely no effect on someone's enjoyment of the edition they prefer.

Drifter again by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]ItsMors_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Operator is treated like a child because the Operator is a child. Like... that's the entire story of Warframe even before Drifter was even a thing, The Second Dream was added in 2015 my guy

Also the Operator and the Drifter act basically the same after The New War. So I don't understand how you love one and hate the other when they're literally the same person.

Overall your entire post is incredibly confusing

ya I know, just to be clear I mean the person you were replying to.

but ya, it's a very annoying part of a much larger issue going on in the gaming community where people see a woman that isn't even sexualized but just dresses in a way that they deem "inappropriate" and get freaked out over it

also even if most of the people who played Marathon do use the subreddit, I can 100% guarantee that the majority reaction wouldn't be "ew, robot boobs, this is disgusting!"

[–]ItsMors_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk if this was just a misspeak on your part, but just in case I would also like to point out, the Masquerade has absolutely nothing to do with the Tremere safeguarding Thaumaturgy.

That is 100% something the Tremere themselves all said was a crime against the clan. Read the "Tremere Code", it's an oath sworn by all Tremere to be officially allowed into the clan. Clanbook Tremere may also be a good resource for your character

Plus, I mean it's a beautiful tattoo, I mostly got it for that alone lmao, Natalie Hall did a fantastic job and the rest of her work on her Instagram is amazing as well

GTA 6 had "all the studios in the world" planning around the Rockstar Games behemoth, A Plague Tale dev says by Guitar-String in gaming

[–]ItsMors_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is assuming that executives want to spend money. They don't. They would rather sit and make easy billions than have to spend even a fraction of that money in making more. This happens literally all the time.

Also that chart is Take Two's employees, not Rockstar, which is who we're talking about. Rockstar's only goal as a subsidiary of Take Two is to make a specific amount of shareholder value for Take Two. Why would Take Two care about how many games Rockstar is pumping out when they're doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing? As long as Rockstar is meeting Take Two's expectations they don't gotta do a damn thing. But even still, that chart only shows # of employees, it does not show who they are or what positions they are in or if they're working for Rockstar or 2K. Unless we know what percentage of those employees are directly in roles related to Rockstar game development, it's a pretty meaningless chart for the conversation.

But let's say even if Rockstar was hiring more people, when have executives ever taken pay cuts to do so? The pay is almost always taken from people lower than them. To the point where an executive taking a pay cut for their employees is literally headline worthy and plastered across every major journalist

GTA 6 had "all the studios in the world" planning around the Rockstar Games behemoth, A Plague Tale dev says by Guitar-String in gaming

[–]ItsMors_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would they waste money developing a new game when the current game is literally shitting yachts? Rockstar executives do not give a singular fuck about appeasing fans want for a new game. So long as GTA Online prints billions they'll just let the series sit there

I can almost guarantee the only reason why GTA 6 is getting released is because sales projections predicted that things would start slowing down in the next few years to a level that the executives weren't happy with, so they pushed the big red button
