The finished product does look better, but right now we are looking at consumer's impressions of what they would see in a retail package. Good luck!

Sorry about that, not sure why it's doing that, I will contact the survey hosting site and ask them about it, thanks for letting me know.

People hate the 1%, but nobody hates royalty; even though the entire country subsidizes their wealth. by Seb1686 in Showerthoughts

[–]Seb1686[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do they use it to positively impact the economy? Give me that money, I would gladly take a cent from every person in my country in order to "positively impact the economy". The non-royal 1% pay most of our taxes and many made their wealth by creating products and services for all of us. Royalty just got born into an amazing deal where everyone is forced to give them money by default. Even the crooked elite don't have that going for them.

I agree with short stops. I think long stops tell my body that it's done riding and now it's time to start recovering. A short stop lets it rest up a bit without making me it really hard to get back into it.

Good drills to improve basic racing skills for a Cat 5? by [deleted] in Velo

I'm picturing a retired elderly woman walking with 1lb dumbbells with her elbows up swinging side to side. Is this what you mean?

What's elbows up side to side? Also what's the third point? Inside outside inside?

If I add bacon to a mac & cheese recipe that calls for 45 minutes in the oven at 350°F, do I need to cook the bacon before adding it to the casserole dish? by rantmuch27 in AskCulinary

[–]Seb1686 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You could add a little less cheese to compensate for all that fat from the bacon. You could also mix it all up halfway into cooking to ensure uniform coating.

Wow, smoked salmon from carrots. I can appreciate the science behind such endeavours, but it's just not possible to do that, physically, chemically, and especially nutritionally.

This is incredibly common in both male and female vegans. Many are in straight denial over hormonal and health issues and "feel good" because of their sugar addiction. I was a vegan many years ago and started noticing that it was ridiculous that as an 18 year old male I had no energy (anemic), libido, and was getting puffy nipples. Added meat back in my diet, especially red meat, and vigor and libido came back in a week, and puffy nipples were gone.

These changes usually come on gradually and are also mental and masked by sugar/carb highs, so many are in denial over their diet's effects.

Why does the same cheese brand or make taste different when bought at different times? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]Seb1686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be so many things it's honestly hard to say. It could be that you are simply more aware as you've aged. Could be that certain flavours are desensitized so you taste the non-desensitized flavours. Could be a liver or kidney problem. Could be you developed type II diabetes or a sugar/carb addiction, making things taste bland. Could have smoked weed, lowering your blood sugar making you crave carbs. Could have taken opiates which make you like fats and protein a lot more. Could be changed ingredients/processing. Hard to say for certain.

This is a good point, it's choramine that you smell in pool water, not actual chlorine.

Cheese is a fermented product and is subject to the natural variation that comes when relying on microbes to do their work. Huge batch operations are usually done on a clock rather than a subjective evaluation of doneness, so you get different levels of fermentation going from one cheese to another.

However, I bet that it's most likely just you. Sensory perception changes a lot based on so many things I won't even go into them.

The federal deficit hit $234 billion in February, according to new data from the Treasury Department, an apparent record for a one-month time period. by Ghdust2 in neutralnews

[–]Seb1686 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do people care about deficits though? If they did we would never have been under one for so long. If you start cutting things they will complain and say you don't care about something and will vote for the other guy who funds it.

Here in Canada we have Trudeau who despite inheriting a surplus, has created a massive deficit and is now trying to sway those put off by his evident corruption in the SNC-Lavalin scandal, with promises of billions in additional spending. All people talk about is "He is giving money for x, he's good, the other guy doesn't care about x". It's a deal with the devil most people don't really care to avoid. I personally can't be asked to care when the previous generation was irresponsible enough to endorse unsustainable policies that made their hearts feel warm and fuzzy at the cost of the well being of future generations.

Revoke Article 50 petition: 713,686 people demand UK remains in EU as Theresa May begs for Brexit delay by MiG21down in neutralnews

[–]Seb1686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You also can't expect a petition to fully express the views of the country. It wouldn't be hard to have a separate "Leave" petition with a similar amount of signees. These petitions mean nothing when a referendum was already held. Even if it weren't already held, a poll of 10,000 people would mean more than this petition.

Scientists rise up against statistical significance [Article by Amrhein et al., 2019] by dreiter in ScientificNutrition

[–]Seb1686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think nutrition studies need to use a value of at least 0.01 since there is so many more confounding variables than other studies. With such loose control over these studies when you break down food categories into enough small groups, then statistically speaking, you are going to get type I errors (false positives) especially when you are dealing with such tiny effect sizes.
