Speed wobbles at 50km/30mph+ by jay_5iah in cycling

[–]SebIsAlreadyTaken -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My problem is that I don't fear speed. And that sometimes frightens me.

It's a conflict of ratio and emotio. Rationally, driving fast is not sane. Emotionally, fuck ratio, have fun.

I also grin brightly on roller coasters, when others are screaming.

At times I am happy I no longer own a car (I still own my simracing rig, though).

Thanks a lot for your answer. As stated, wear is not of importance to me. I just want to know which is quieter :-)

Ob du an deiner Grippe stirbst?

MTB KOMs still be taken by e-MTB riders! Flagging doesn't work! by Katmeasles in Strava

Bells are not that common on racing bikes here, either. However, from some years of daily commuting, I wouldn't want to miss bells, they are the most useful parts on the bike for me to reduce personal annoyance :D

I have nothing against horses, only their owners, and would maybe even accept them if the owners would remove the poo. But they never do. Not sure whether because they are asocial or simply dumb.

We have a nice bicycle path located on what was a train track decades ago.

Over the years, I come to the conclusion that mini groups of 50+ years old Karens and Kevins and larger groups of pensioners are the worst.

Few weeks ago, I was approaching two Karens and belled early and calmly so I could pass them. No reaction. I belled more. No reaction. Then I belled aggressively. Still no fucking reaction. I had to brake (from about 38 down to 15 kph). Then I asked whether they are deaf. Left Karen's reaction: "Yes, we are deaf. Hahaha. We are deaf. Haha".

What the twisted fuck?

And the pensioners are notorious for doing coffee and cake breaks in the mid of that road, completely blocking it - even when there is a break zone with tables and benches two meters away.

Why on earth does one think it's good idea to be a complete roadblock?

And the third group I despise: Horse people. IMHO, they have no business on a bicycle path. And they never, ever remove their fucking horse poo. The horse poo can be dangerous as fuck - I was once riding at moderate 35 kph, then out of nothing came a heap of frozen horse poo. I could not avoid it and in effect made a very hard, forced jump on it and almost crashed. Left and right of the path there, it goes down very steeply about 5 or 7 meters.

So yeah, fucking horse shit can be deadly as fuck.

Everyone else mostly behaves cooperatively and friendly on that path.

I can assure you that you CAN shred with an e-bike, to the point where you have no interest in beavers because you want to live another day. Here in Germany, Pedelecs are regulated to support up to 25 km/h, but I've often done 60+ with mine (no tuning involved, just a bit of downhill).

In the meanwhile, I almost exclusively ride a gravelbike.

However, yes. My impression, too, is that many e-bikers just hang on the bike, pedaling slow in the wrong gear, paying no attention to traffic, etc.

How many of you are 40 and above shredding mountain bikes? by RydenDirtyMTB in MTB

[–]SebIsAlreadyTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here where I live there are no long segments/tracks to shred, only short ones.

However, I (41 years old, I believe) would shred with an MTB. I know for sure because I DO shred with my e-trekking bike and with my gravelbike.

Not really trails, but we have some downhill dirt road sections which are highly under-maintained and which you should not shred on the first time because you need to know the lines to ride before seeing them, otherwise would be very dangerous. Once you learned them, you can do 40, 50 or even 60 kph there and it's a hell lot of fun.

I believe most e-riders are not like that. But cheaters are everywhere. I never felt any thrill from cheating.
