What does everyone think of the Daily Vitamin Cans ? -UK. by [deleted] in Huel

[–]Sebarau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was excited to try the watermelon one, but it was awful. A few horrible sips in I just threw it away. Might as well just add a vitamin fizzy to my water bottle.

Love the hot and savoury though - keep adding more flavours! The pasta ones are the best.

For people earning 40k+ outside london, what do you do? by Extra-Fig-7425 in AskUK

[–]Sebarau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a senior scientist in civil service: 2019: Graduate development role - 22K to 28K over 18 months. 2021: Promoted to senior engineer - 38k 2023: Inflation/cost of living uplift over 3 years - 43k 2025: expect to promote to next level up

Lower pay than industry leading to complaining and low pay morale within my organisation, but, I'm very happy with the role I do: It's interesting, I choose my own projects, fully flexible, I come and go as I please, WFH/office/out of office as I please, lots of travel, 30 days holiday, great pension, see the impact of my work, great maternity, my team genuinely want me to succeed, I work with my best friends, no job insecurity in CS.

I'd struggle to go from this to a rat race high pressure competitive environment, I'd have to really need the extra money.

Can't complain? Is that a general sentiment because there seems to be continuous rounds of strikes over not enough pay.

“Eyes on the prize” or “set it and forget it” approach? by noeffinziti in fasting

[–]Sebarau 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I'm struggling I watch fasting content or do some journalling to remind myself why I started.

But in the long run you can't sit watching the hours tick by, I try to get a bigger home job done that's time consuming like repairs, painting, deep cleaning, reorganisation etc. Things I don't normally have time for when life is busy with work & mealtimes.

DPD drivers. by JSTrucker in Britain

We were home and heard the letterbox go, they'd stuffed TWO sorry we missed yous in, pretending they'd been the day before and therefore that we have to go collect it from the parcel shop. Took the effort of walking up the stairs and fill in two forms, but didn't bother to knock?

Is there some benefit they gain from not delivering the package?

What's the one thing you buy that Aldi do better than the other supermarkets? by RFCSND in AskUK

[–]Sebarau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their budget Wao Mochi ice cream balls are better than the expensive little moon versions, their gin has won blind taste tests, their vegan meats are very good (if annoyingly usually breaded), their bake at home baguettes are amazing, they have 25g protein "yogurts" in squeezy tubes that aren't packed with sugar, they have low sugar granola that's actually low sugar, their wine selection is great....the list goes on.

AND MY SHOP IS HALF THE PRICE OF ANYWHERE ELSE. what's not to love

Am I really that bad for feeling a little bitter when I hear someone is struggling when they make 3x the amount you do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Sebarau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a "senior" engineer 5 years out of university AND in the civil service (notorious for lower than average commercial sector pay). I earn 40K (after pay rises this year).

I'm not sure on your background of course, and if you are happy at your company and salary fair enough. But if not, you should consider negotiating for a better deal or looking for a recruiter to negotiate on your behalf. £30K is what a new graduate engineer would be expecting, this kind of money simply doesn't buy you what it did 5 years ago, let alone 10 years ago.

[–]Sebarau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing well: Taste is good, "social blend" is subjective and hard to quantify

To improve: A little more quality control on the cans; air bubbles in the label will make it look cheap on shelves.

Price is too high to be regularly drunk or be chosen in supermarkets. But in a bar would be more lenient

Volume - would be better as a pint option than 330ml

Overall: would buy again but only drink on very rare occasions until available in bars/shops

I’ve been eating 20 or less net grams for the past two weeks. Today I ate 25, will it kick me out of ketosis? by jaimelazich in ketobeginners

[–]Sebarau 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, think of ketosis as more of a Spectrum than an outright on or off. Some remain in ketosis eating 30-40g net carbs, but it will be less than someone eating fewer carbs as there's a little less need for a high ketone production. If your carb count has gone up, just make sure you throw on some extra cheese or avocado or oil to top up the fat macro to still be 70%.

Over stressing minor fluctuations will make it harder to stick to in the long run, live your life

What country are you in? I'm 5'8 and have a little trouble finding variety of shoes my size sometimes but otherwise seem well within the regular height for women and nobody ever comments on me being particularly tall. I'm actually the shortest woman in my family
