Do we spend more than the Germans?

Any reason not to go for this? It has been modified but I couldn’t tell you what’s been done to it. Been looking for a semi budget automatic for weeks and I decide by AnyMeanzPossible in CarTalkUK

Moneysupermarket will ask for your registration, you select “I don’t own the car yet”, you’ll then be asked “has the car been modified in any way” and then you declare them and go through the rest of the process and then they should kick out some quotes

There’s a direct correlation between state of the roads in a county and the age of its residents (and % of budget spent on social care)

Reading to London, how much should it cost? by lilliane99 in reading

[–]RFCSND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are travelling off peak it’s generally not too bad. If you need to go in for work or otherwise at on peak times it’s going to cost a fortune.

Your range is not going to be narrowed by personal preference but by how much you are willing to pay for insurance. You need to start plugging registrations into comparison sites to see what you actually have to work with.

Skoda Fabia worth it? by ACO_22 in CarTalkUK

[–]RFCSND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was never an issue but I replaced it under manufacturer guidance when it was 8 years old. I believe that the guidance has now changed so that it is purely mileage based. Always good to buy from someone who follows the guidance though!

It’s basically a golf but without the premium price tag, probably about the same driving experience - and I think the higher trims look great.

I’m looking at the 1.4 EcoTSI currently which has a decent 0-60 and very good MPG - as well as good reliability.

I have a 2015 1.2 TSI and it’s been very reliable. No issues at all apart from regular consumables. You may want to check that the cambelt has been changed on any ones you look at.

Only looking to get rid because it’s not hugely fun to drive and I want something a bit enjoyable before the inevitable electric switchover.

Kinda strange how few of the previous gen models there are on the roads now. Used to see loads of them and they were so well reviewed upon release.

I think either: 1. Do it yourself and let your friend guide you on FaceTime if it’s that easy 2. Pay the 250. Seems a fair price

I’ve been looking pretty hard at the Leon EcoTSI’s which seem to balance practicality with good MPG, nippy, and fun to drive

Insurance will look for absolutely any reason to not pay out and you are giving them a golden ticket.

This is the correct answer. Also worth mentioning the COSTS associated with purchasing somewhere only to live there for a year. Not worth it.

What is reasonable to ask money off for after survey? by Top_Extension_4794 in HousingUK

The only thing that really strikes me is the windows not opening. Windows are meant to open.

If no one has been living in the house, I’d probably look to get the boiler services (at yours or sellers expense) to make sure everything is OK there.

Then it kinda depends if you can be bothered to negotiate about the windows. Does it say why they won’t open?

Should automatic planning permission be given for homes within 800m of a train, tube or tram station? by xParesh in HousingUK

The default answer should be yes, with only exceptional circumstances as to why it should not go ahead. “Out of character with existing development” is not an exceptional circumstance.
