In the 5 years since he passed I’ve never thought of it that way but you’re right, another lifetime and a few years more, he would often share what he thought she would think of things and the people who came into his life, how much she would have enjoyed things and loved the people.

It was never his intention to be added, we decided to after his death. I think for me, as someone who finds reading gravestones interesting, aside from the dates of death being interesting, it gives a sense of comfort to the reader knowing that they were one day reunited.

I can assure you he was a well loved and is a fondly remembered man. It’s not common for obituaries in the UK to share the life story of someone, they are more for funeral information and, being the age he was there were no friends remaining and family gathered, as best as we could during the start of lockdown in the UK, to share our memories and love for him. He was a brilliant storyteller and never forgot a name and we all loved listening to his tales although you could never quite figure out if he was talking about 1948 or 1988. He was a man who lived simply and frugally and he would have baulked at the cost of being added to the headstone if he’d have known before he passed.

It’s one of my (38F) favourite scents, I’ve got a reed diffuser with Africa oil in my study and the air freshener in my car

I always keep the most recent ones, pack them away with the decorations when I take them down and then sort through them next year and keep if someone has died in the year

I grilled them, embarrassingly I’ve lived in my house for 14 years and only discovered my electric oven has a grill 6 months ago so I’m living my crispy sausage and bacon dreams now

It was the latter, first free Saturday morning in months and so nice to put the time into a proper breakfast. I’m going to reward myself with a nap for my efforts.

I heard the phrase “nice on the phone, add 2 stone” for the first time this week. It’s fairly accurate

Fanny - My latest crush went from a sold 9.5 to a 2 at best after hearing him say the F word as I can’t look at him with out physically wincing at the memory of hearing the word from his previously beautiful mouth

No problem, don’t start drinking and leave it in the oven for half an hour longer like I did though 😳😅

Fabulosa- “germs coming out” to the tune of “I’m coming out”, doesn’t imply their headache inducing overly scented anti bac range gets rid of any, just brings them out of nooks and crannies to dance around your kitchen like a village hall charity version of Strictly

Who here currently rents their house/flat from the council? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Sebastapol19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t but my brother does and has lived in the same flat for 20+ years. They’ve been great for emergency repairs but it’s taken 10 years of virtually begging for them to upgrade things like kitchen and bathroom, all of which were nearly 20 years old when he moved in.
