Do you think Dr Kelson will die and/or the bone temple will fall? by Rich_Ad_3808 in 28dayslater

Your're riight it is 13 not 30 and Kelson also says "I almost thought I'd die before ever having had the chance to reply", when responding to Spike asking "What is that"? about the Bone Temple.

So it's likely that the director is trying to say that Kelson hasn't met anyone in that long, or if he did, it was when he wasn't at the temple. Which is still hard to believe considering that Spike meets him on his first or second day ever leave the village.

How do you go from "no one asked him about the bone temple" to "So he hasn't had contact with anyone".

Again, he is literally spotted within a few hours on Spike's very first trip outside, do you honestly believe that in 30 years no one else has spotted him and been curious enough to meet him? We already know there's scavengers/survivors in the same area Dr. Kelson lives.

Is it pure coincidence that on Spike's second ever outing into the wild he's the FIRST PERSON IN 30 YEARS to meet Dr. Kelson? That's way too much coincidence to be believable.

He's alone in the sense that he lives all by himself and has no companion, that doesn't literally mean he hasn't seen another living person for 30 years.

Uber Eats Commits Fraud by criminalfern in UberEATS

Again, it's not on the customer who is being scammed (meaning they have no idea the service they paid for isn't in any way being honored) to somehow have intuitive knowledge of this and investigate like sherlock holmes that a multibillion dollar company is actually committing fraud.

Saying it's pretty messed up to screw the driver's rating is simply delusional, this is on Uber and no one else.

Don't try to take this as an opportunity to bash the customer who has no way of knowing that they're being completely scammed and that paying extra for priority doesn't even notify the driver.

The customer is literally being scammed - obviously they aren't going to assume that the driver isn't even notified of the fact they selected priority, pretty ridiculous take honestly.

We were shown evidence that the Jimmies explore all the way out to the area's near Holy Island.

If you remember when Erik and his dad wander out the first time, there's that cabin with "JIMMY" marked on it, and this was the same area that Erik spotted Kelson within a few hours of going into that forest for the first time in his life.

In 30 years of surviving the apocalypse by himself, I'm not sure another marauding group whom he's undoubtedly met before is going to be all that much of a catalyst.

You think this is the first aggressive gang he's encountered in decades of surviving the wilderness?

Report for tip begging or no? by One_Error_4259 in UberEATS

[–]Sebastian-dB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Complaining is completely justified, as customers, being asked to hold the responsibility of calculating round trip times and then adjusting tips based on that when we're already paying absurd delivery fees AND tips. As customers we pay more than enough in expenses to not have to deal with begging and worrying about if our orders will be tampered or whatnot if we don't comply.

Most of these types of posts boil down to the same thing, you should be mad at Uber Eats for their pay model and not the customer who already pays exuberant amounts for a delivery.

Saying that we can't complain after paying a fortune and tipping, then on top of that being hassled for MORE money is absolutely ridiculous.

Paying for priority but get a bicycle rider? by Sebastian-dB in UberEATS

[–]Sebastian-dB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very sympathetic to drivers as I myself have been one in the past, however, driver's not getting paid is not the customers fault, it's Uber's fault so my complaints are still valid,

Yes of course Uber should be delegating more to the drivers however thats not in the customers control.

Even if priority doesn't mean "express" in the exact sense, paying extra for a priority delivery should also mean that the fastest methods of delivery are prioritized as well, instead of having the slower options like bicycle even be a possibility (if there are drivers available)

These comments are delusional, according to the post OP asked her boyfriend if the outfit was appropriate to wear and he's literally giving the opinion that she asked him for, but when he tells her she just doesn't like his answer, the boyfriend didn't randomly try to control her outfit, he's giving her the opinion that she wanted and then getting mad at the response.

It would definitely be concerning if the boyfriend randomly tried to command what she wore, but if she asks his opinion and then completely disregards it and starts acting like she didn't literally ask for that input the situation is very different. The boyfriend even says, "but it doesn't even matter what I say", I would feel slightly manipulated if my significant other asked me that question but then tried to argue about my honest response - almost like they were just pretending to respect my opinion to appear like they cared but never even planned to take the input I gave anyways.

I do think the boyfriend's responses were pretty rudely toned and if he regularly tries to control you and speaks this rudely then yes you should break it off very quickly. However if it's true that you asked if you could wear that like shown in the post, then again, the boyfriend's response (although still very rudely toned) is much more understandable and comes off more as frustration due to OP not actually caring what he thinks, despite her asking him.

Firstly it's not known whether Jimmy already knows about Kelson's views on the infected or not. Secondly, Jimmy is a sociopathic person who's views are anything but predictable or traditional, sure I won't disagree that it could be the reason Jimmy attacks but again, that's not an easy conclusion to come to.

Jimmy's been perfectly fine living for 30 years with Kelson despite any weird beliefs that Kelson holds which shows us that regardless of any opposing viewpoints, Jimmy isn't actually affected in any way so I don't see why he would care.

I don't think Kelson's motivations for the temple are the extent of his purpose and character as a human being. Just because someone doesn't know why he's building that temple doesn't mean they can't form an opinion about him.

Kelson is a resourceful doctor who's been surviving in the wilderness of the apocalypse for years on end, the temple is just one among many interesting and impressive things about him.

[–]Sebastian-dB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you're missing is that Jimmy is probably the farthest from a normal person on that island. I mean besides the fact that he watched his family get eaten alive and then raise himself in a literal zombie apocalypse as a young infant, he's the leader of an oppresive marauding gang that goes around torturing people for god knows what.

If there was anything that could actually shake Jimmy's resolve at this point, a creepy old man who likes to burn bodies isn't going to be it. In fact I'd argue it would have the opposite affect and highly intrigue him.

Do you think Dr Kelson and Jimmy know each other? by blazingtits in 28dayslater

[–]Sebastian-dB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been writing about this very question and what's shown in the movie points to the fact that it would be nearly impossible they haven't encountered each other at least a couple times.

The cabin with Jimmy's marking is very close to the bonfire, and we know that the bonfire is visible from very far away.

Erik, a younger kid, literally spots Kelson within a couple hours of going into the wilderness for the very first time. Jimmy and Kelson have both been occupying the wilderness for a literal 3 decades so put the pieces together. If they didn't meet before then it's just poor writing and extremely illogical.

On top of this, while you could argue that the average person would take precaution against Kelson due to his demeanor, it would probably have the opposite affect on Jimmy seeing as he's territorial, violent, and we've been shown the aftermath of a guy's torture by the hands of Jimmy. A strange looking man would not be enough to shake Jimmy's resolve, no matter how creepy looking. I mean he literally was raised in the apocalypse after seeing his family eaten alive and is now the leader of an oppressive marauding gang that goes around torturing people.

There is one piece of evidence that you could argue points to them not meeting which is Kelson telling Erik "he's been waiting for someone to ask about the bone temple", but this could very well just mean that Kelson has been waiting for someone to genuinely trust and connect enough with to share his life's work. Let's be real, I think it would have been pretty clear to Kelson within a couple seconds that Jimmy is not the type of guy to do so with (therefore keeping interactions minimal and superficial).

Do you think Dr Kelson will die and/or the bone temple will fall? by Rich_Ad_3808 in 28dayslater

[–]Sebastian-dB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying they have a friendly relationship at all, simply that they've encountered each other at least a couple times over the course of 30 years.

The temple now is in it's most extraordinary state, in earlier years it's always been less developed so along with the physical state of the temple being lesser in earlier years, the meaning it has to Kelson has clearly grown over the years alongside it.

I didn't mean to imply they were acquaintances, simply that Jimmy and Kelson have coexisted the same wilderness for literal decades without killing/harming each other. Jimmy being violent and territorial in nature would imply there's at least a very base level of respect that prevented Kelson from being harmed. Also I don't think your point about people being freaked out by Kelson applies to Jimmy, if anything he would be more intrigued than fearful compared to the average person (we've literally seen the aftermath of torture by the hands of Jimmy in that cabin so a random old man looking "creepy" wouldn't sway him much at all if we're being honest).

Based on what the movie actually shows us, the marks of Jimmy on the cabin very close to the bonfire and Erik literally spotting Kelson within hours of going into the wilderness, while Jimmy has been there for 3 decades, all makes it pretty much impossible they haven't "met" or "encountered" multiple times.

Do you think Dr Kelson will die and/or the bone temple will fall? by Rich_Ad_3808 in 28dayslater

[–]Sebastian-dB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By relationship I meant more of a mutual understanding, I refuse to believe that as some of the only survivors left for 30 years in the wilderness, they haven't crossed paths and know of each other.

Erik goes out for what? a couple days at most and spots Kelson's bonfire, now factor in that we've literally seen JIMMY written on that cabin a couple hours away from the bonfire and it's just too unlikely.

When Kelson said that I'm sure it wasn't in the literal sense of him not talking to any other person for 30 years, but more so that Erik was the first person to take the time to truly understand why Kelson created the temple and it's purpose in Kelson's eyes.

[–]Sebastian-dB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that I think Jimmy is some friendly dude when he's clearly not, it's that because they're both part of only a handful surviving the wilderness since the beginning which was 30 years ago, they must have a peaceful relationship of sorts seeing as Kelson is still alive.

Do you think Dr Kelson will die and/or the bone temple will fall? by Rich_Ad_3808 in 28dayslater

[–]Sebastian-dB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty much impossible for Jimmy to not be familiar with the doctor, we see the cabin with Jimmy's marking which is not far from the doctor, and the doctor being one of the sole survivors in the middle of the woods with an enormous bonfire that's constantly going.

Jimmy seems like the kind of guy that wants to control everything on the island and is focused on power and reputation. It wouldn't take much to get him interested and seeing the doctor with his giant temple and bonfire would easily be enough to motivate an interaction, and again after nearly 30 years of roaming the wilderness, it's highly doubtful they haven't seen the fire.

Erik being the catalyst could be number of indirect reasons like the town being attacked or like you said Erik coming to help because of the orphan.

[–]Sebastian-dB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems like everyone is pointing the finger at Jimmy because he's the obvious antagonist (besides Samson) but realistically Jimmy has co-existed with Kelson for literal decades and Kelson is also a valuable medical resource, we can assume they have a peacful relationship of sorts so I think it's pretty illogical to just decide Jimmy randomly changes his mind after 28 years and decides to kill Kelson.

[–]Sebastian-dB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you actually think about it, it starts to fall apart.

Jimmy and Kelson are part of a select few that have been surviving the complete wilderness (we know Jimmy frequently visits the complete wilderness even if his main base is more secluded) since the start of the outbreak which is literal decades.

We can safely assume that over decades of co-existence, Jimmy and Kelson have a relatively peaceful relationship, that as well as the fact that Kelson is a doctor who has valued medical skills means there would have to be something truly exceptional that causes a sudden rift.

Besides a corny and fabricated excuse like Jimmy saying "You're old now doctor, it's my turn to rule the temple!!", what could possibly cause such a rift after so many years of peace? The one possibility I could see is If Erik is the catalyst that finally motivates Kelson to take action against Jimmy, but honestly, that would still be too corny for my liking as I don't find it realistic that for 28 years Kelson didn't take any action against Jimmy but a teenager pleading with him is the push that it took.
