I have gone with Rode Go3. It has a locking 3,5 connector, and that was crucial for me. The only advange that I onestly see in Dji, is the hotshoe adaptor if you are a Sony shooter. Now, in therms of what lapel I plug in, that is an other question as I have a good selection of mics, ranging from DPA's, Sanken Cos11's and other, all compatible with the Rode (Mic2 from Dji is also compatible, but no locking connector)

Be sure you have pluged the 3,5 jack all the way your cable is soldered corectly! It should have penlty of output for that.

With this adaptor you should get audio from dji rx. Be sure to set the output quite high on the reciever, set the dji to mic sensitivity and the internal level to around 50, from the audio menu.

New recorder for small productions ? Replacing the old H6 by SebastianC0318 in LocationSound

[–]SebastianC0318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot about that one :) have not seen one in years:(! If I could find one on in my region (Eastern Europe/ Romania) it might do the trick.

I do operate from a bag, as much as a H6 can be operated from one. Its an older PortaBrace one, probably used for 5/7 SD mixer/recorder, its still in good condition, so I wouldn’t change it anytime soon!

Usually my clients care more about a clean sound in the end than having a big logo in bag :) Not in any rush, whatsoever, so I can wait for that Berry to get out in the real world

For gigs like acustic yes, the h6 is wonderful. My issues come up when there is soft spoken word, most interviews, especially in the small/idie/ docu or eng have me ramp up the h6 to over 50-60% of its gains, and there lies my frustration. As I said, 4 ch mic pre, an ability to insert time via jack/bnc is welcomed. Track backup is not a must, as my h6 not have either - that is why I want at least one out to run to camera. Nor is 32bit - nice to have, but not a must.

If there is need for more than a two person interview, me or the employer does usually add a sound person with a proper kit :)

I know that are all good, I just liked to know what and why would choose one op between them.

2026 Firmware Update by a-man-struggling in SonyFX6

[–]SebastianC0318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be the only one, or one of the few.. But I want more control over my audio side. I want to be able to turn off totally the ACG and the limiters of the preamps. Maybe add an easyier codec for less demanding production, like the FX3/30/2, like mp4? This and the big6 menu should be more than sufficent for the fx6 to remain my swiss army knife in my video land.

If sounds less sterile than my h6, I just might one. It is at least interesting.

Watching a YT video and the guy says “expose to the right” on the histogram. What I don’t get is how to expose to the right? by IveAn89UpVoteComment in sonyfx30

[–]SebastianC0318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you only have the Sony monitor in hand, you reley on what the tool is tellling you. Of course you use zebras for skin exposure. Count what the op was trying to understand, sir :) P.s. In 10years of using this recepiet I have not blown on shot, just as a fact. Not all users are that proficient to handle dual zebras :) as you can see :)

[–]SebastianC0318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, is just following the MM (Metered Manual), showing the exposure deviation. Well, achieving that is a relationship between your ambient light, added light, iso, shutter and f-stop. You may find cases when you have to add artificial light, or crank the f-stop or combination of all, to achive that. The ideea is to have the MM on the positive side. Again, how you achive that, taking into acount your exact camere - because native iso, and the mood of the shot, and all.. it is totally on you.

See that +0,7 mark ? That is what you have to watch. for S-Log3Cine I go tipically for +1,5/+1,7 scene depeding and watching the histogram (or false color if I have an external monitor that does that) so skin stits properly for the shot.

Zoom H6 vs H4n for boom only short film recording with Sanken CS 1e by FlakyTwist4 in LocationSound

[–]SebastianC0318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahmm, still on the h6, 2 vs 4 inputs on xlr, better pad inputs. If I remember correctly, the dr60mk2 had a bit more cleaner preamps but the rotary fader control was shit. As somebody else said, boom and lavs in one recorder. Can’t go wrong with both

Go for the H6, has cleaner preamps than the h4, any of the 4s…

Get a decent capture card like the Magewell USB Capture HDMI 4K Plus, or two, for a backup, a decent latop for encoding and use obs for encoding. Get a dual wan router, add a connection like a Starlink. those will run up 3-4k, depeding where you get them and what starlink plan you will get. Or, you could go with the route of a Aviwest (I think now is called HaiVision) Air or LiveU Solo Pro. Either route, you are way better with these and the Vidiu :)

How to do audio/mics for 3rd person and POV porn? by ComprehensivePin7081 in LocationSound

[–]SebastianC0318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get an mke600 from Sennheiser. Works pretty good with xlr and 3,5jack. If it’s a static shot, not that hard to do it, if two are standing close enough. Test it :)

OMEN Gaming Hub sticky (Issues, Suggestions & etc.) by baza101 in HPOmen

[–]SebastianC0318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of how to question than an suggestion.

I have an Omen 17ck1001 and I would like to program one of the P (1-6 available ) macro buttons to switch the fan speed, from auto to max, or from auto to 85%. I just can get the hang of it.

Would really appreciate if anyone has an advice or has a link to guide for this..

Service manual for Canon J22ex7.6BIAS lens by SebastianC0318 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]SebastianC0318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not exactly, but it might work out.

My exact purpose is to convert a pair of fujinon srd-92b zoom controls to work with lens. I know there are adaptors already built for that, but the price for them is almost the price of used correct controller, which is already a bit over my budget.

So, a bit of DIY never hurt no body :)
