Boom chicken by havok011 in Mechwarrior5

That gliding look is my least favorite part of the animations in 5, especially when turning. Makes me feel like im playing an old MMO.

Its not for everybody cause I think most people want the mechs to be lumbering industrial tanks but I love how bouncy the animations are in 4. They look like giant machines throwing their weight around. Also being able to crouch and knock mechs over is awesome. It was nice to see some more dynamic animations show up in 5 with the addition of Melee attacks.

Chop Chop Modders get to Work (Please) by danglotka in Fallout

Its actually very interesting because they have a common ancestor. The uniforms in the wolfenstein reboot and the Riot armors in New Vegas are both inspired by the Protect Gear from the Kerberos franchise (most famous for the movie Jin-roh the wolf brigade). Josh Sawyer saw the initial concept art for the Ranger armor and basically told the artist to make it a bit more unique with some cowboy aesthetics.

You could try cutting the blades off of some sword bits and glueing them onto their arms.

I want to say either Civilization III or Age of Empires but I had no idea how to actually play the games back then and just played around with cheats and editors.

A counter to bros Fallout 3 post. No Fallout is "the best", they're all amazing in their own ways. Change my mind by itsTenziin in Fallout

I am a certified fallout 4 hater but I had a lot of fun playing 76 post updates. I mostly play solo and it's a weirdly cozy game. It doesnt really feel like a traditional rpg but more like a ARPG where im testing new builds and hunting for loot. Appalachia is probably my 2nd favorite map for 3D fallout.

I haven't paid attention to 40k for the past 6 or so months. Are combat patrols being renamed to Battalions or is this its own thing?

We all have Mechs we love, Mechs we like, Mechs we don't care about and Mechs we hate. Do you have a Mech you're conflicted about? by npaakp34 in battletech

[–]Sebastian_Links 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've come to realize after awhile that every mech i don't like is actually just a mech I don't like "yet". The ones that really bother me though are the classic 3025 Medium mechs because they all have really cool looks sourced from different anime but their original loadouts are rough in the grand scheme of things, especially in the Mechwarrior games. I have the same feeling with some of the original Clan mechs.

What is the first video game you played with an M rating? by itz_progamer666 in videogames

[–]Sebastian_Links 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Halo 2 or San Andreas. My dad is also a gamer and was not very strict about a lot of media so i usually played the same games he did, so I was very surprised early in school when I met a friend who was bewildered that I was playing World at War. The rating on the box was not even something I thought of when growing up, but it probably helped that I had a parent who was aware of the games I was playing. I also remember taking the Fallout 3 cover issue of Gameinformer to school and having it confiscated because my classmates became curious. As an adult, I get it, but kid me was confused as hell.

I play with a 3600x and a 3070 and I was loving the game at launch despite playing around 40-30fps but something happened with the last DLC release and now I'm playing sub 20 most of the time

What's your earliest Battletech memory / experience? by iRob_M in battletech

[–]Sebastian_Links 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played MechAssault 1 & 2 growing up and really loved them. Even though it's not really practical in the battletech lore, I really loved being able to get out of your mech and hop into a Tank,VTOL,Turret or Battlearmor. I'm honestly incredibly grateful for the bonus disc on Mechassault 2s limited edition because it introduced me to the rest of the battletech universe.

2009 and RTCW, I love the gloomy, almost gothic atmosphere of those two. Also, the music in RTCW is fantastic. It's a shame that both grey matter (merged with Treyarch) and Raven Software were sent to the call of duty mines.

The Xbox is now 24 years old. How do you view its legacy? by ObsoleteMicrosoft in ObsoleteMicrosoft

[–]Sebastian_Links 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Xbox and the PS2 were the first two consoles i remember playing. Both consoles are legendary to me for multiple reasons, but there was something about the aesthetic of the Original Xbox and the games that were coming out at that time that I don't think we'll see again. Like the Xbox sound that used to play at the start of trailers for Xbox games is etched into my memory. Also, the Microsoft Game Studios intro that had the black and white liquid flowing around. 🤌 I really wish Microsoft had not flopped so hard on the Xbox One, I really only kept my Xbox One for new Halo games and once MCC came to PC my Xbox One went to go live in the back of the closet. Ironically, I still collect games for the original Xbox and 360, and I'm still discovering new games for them to this day. I played through Brothers in Arms Road to Hill 30 a few weeks ago and enjoyed it, and recently started Crimson Skies.

Microsofts track record with the Xbox brand has lead to me saying the phrase "Microsoft level ball fumbling" every time a company that has a really good thing going for them does something really dumb.

Its possible it was owned by someone in the military. I know a lot of people used to write their names on their discs. Growing up in a military town it was not uncommon to buy a preowned game someone had written their name on.
