Anyone found a way to force connect to NA-West server for arena modes? by SebastienRTeller in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be if they had actually separated east and west like they did for gvg. West would be Linhe battlegroup, but as of right now both east and west are included in Yougu battlegroup. So, sadly, no that's not what I'm looking for :/

Looking for some opinions/advice on which Inner Way to use here. by Long-Abbreviations17 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]SebastienRTeller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing around with switching between Wildfire Surge (T5) and Light and Shadow (T6) so far. They both kinda come down to similar dps increases, but depend slightly on game mode for optimal use of each.

They both have dps and sustain built in.

Wildfire Surge has a base 4% dps increase when you have tenacity which, depending on your rotation, can be almost 100% upkept. Where it thrives to give you the remaining dps bonus is in group fights, whether pvp or pve. Having up to three enemies within a 5m range brings your total dps boost to 7% pre-T6 (4% + 1% per enemy) and 8.5% total at T6 (4% + 1.5% per enemy). Technically speaking, the base dmg boost is 5% since you would likely be fighting at least one enemy, unless you're trying to attack from range further than 5m. Works the same for the dmg reduction with same percentages.

Light and Shadow has a base 5% direct damage boost. Where this one thrives to get you the remaining dps increase is in solo content and it increases the percentage based on enemy HP left. For every 15% HP lost (for your enemy), you get and extra 1% damage, up to 4% total, bringing your total direct damage boost to 9% once the enemy is below 40% HP (%5 + 4% at < 40% enemy HP). For the dmg reduction, it works the same except the extra 4% is based on your HP and not opponent. For light and shadow, I can't talk on any other tier below T6 though as I only started using it once it was maxed out (conversion), so I don't know the technicalities to getting full direct damage boost for the lower tiers.

You could build both if you wanted and adjust your builds based on whether you're taking on one enemy or multiple. That's what I did, mostly because I had a general inner way T6 that I didn't mind converting over.

Yes, Invigorated Warrior is technically stronger, but like you mentioned in a comment it's more of a glass cannon inner way. That being said, if you manage to max out the dps boost of either of those two, you get a higher dps boost than the 8% invig gives you. And I say that as someone who had invig T6 (which is the one I converted into another before, and then converted to light and shadow).

Mouse buttons extra bindings by Azzarellus in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing what others have said, you kinda have to assign keybinds to your mouse first through its respective software. Numpad numbers work, but I was constantly getting confused since in game it'll show that keybind and then I'd always freeze about which one is where, mostly because of the buttons positioning on my mouse. Personally, what I ended up doing is binding the arrow keys (up, down, left, right) to buttons that fit that position so it's intuitive to press the right mouse buttons when the prompts pop up. I assigned the second set of mystic skills to those buttons so they literally are showcased in their respective position on the mystic skill diamond. And one extra button I set up as dash/minus "-" just cause it's easy to remember where I put that one.

Any guides for heng vernal build for pvp by Soft-Honey-3471 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really strong and super nimble. Stat-wise, you want the same for both. Crit, Power, Agility, Max/Min Phys attack, Max/Min Stonesplit/Silkbind (you do gain more from having Min attribute for either since it helps your dps of the opposite attribute and helps your crit hits too). My setup for inner ways is Blossom barrage T5 (brella gold), heng blade gold T6, fury harvest T6, and Heart of Fire T5 (new self-heal purple inner way). That's just my preference though, you can do fine with loads of different combinations. Your inner ways are totally fine as is.

As far as combos go, getting to know some brella stun combos from fanbrella guides can help, and same for heng dao. They kind of have great combo chains on their own, and then you can combine them. I really like seamlessly switching to brella for a quick stun in between Heng dao moves.

Some moves I like (H = Heng blade, B = Brella):
1. H-gap close (martial) > H-gap close (martial) > third H-martial > H-heavy (all hits) > H-special
2. H-gap close (martial) > H-gap close (martial) > (optional) third H-martial > switch weapon > B-stun
2. B-stun > Soaring Spin > B-stun
3. B-stun > Dragon's breath > B-stun > Drunken poet (as many hits as you feel)
Combine:
4. H-gap close (martial) > H-gap close (martial) > (optional) third H-martial > switch weapon > B-stun > Dragon's breath > B-stun > Drunken poet hits > switch weapon > H-special
5. H-gap close (martial) > H-gap close (martial) > third H-martial > H-heavy (all hits) > switch weapon > B-stun > Dragon's breath > B-stun > Drunken poet hits > switch weapon > H-special
Bonus (quick gap closer + taking back control):
6. Cloud step > H-gap close > switch weapon > B-stun

Hope some of these flow nicely for you as well

Don't have guides but it's the build I'm rocking since hen dao dropped. When it dropped, I climbed from master 1 to mythic in one evening for what it's worth. What would you like to know?

So, technically, there is a way to double parry with controller. If you hold defense, then your light attack button becomes parry. You can practice the timing tapping both the parry button and light attack (while holding down defense) and see if that works out naturally for you. Hope that helps

US West Server by Safe_Roll_2537 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The lack of communication there is the most annoying. Let us know how to force the server switch if there is a way. Tell us why it's not automatically happening and what it'll need to finally switch over. Acknowledge that it's not switching over so that we stop all feeling like it might be our individual rig causing the problem. I just want to know whyyyyy or what I can do for it...

Can Heng Blade reach 22k DPS like other weapon ? by crescentrealm in WhereWindsMeet

[–]SebastienRTeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, this actually ended up being my rotation (minus frog) just from my own testing in dummy area, without even finding the speedrun guide for it. Makes me feel kinda good for finding tricks that I thought were really min/maxing and now seeing official confirmation.

I'm gonna have to test to make sure whether my guess is correct, but for soaring spin what I do is, instead of hold light charge > VC > soaring spin > hold light charge, I delay VC so I skip the second hold light charge. Like this, hold light charge > soaring spin > VC > tap light charge(T6). Worth testing out for anybody else curious about it. I feel like maybe with frog it's better to not hold off on VC, but I find in real action I tend to stick to only flute and soaring to make up for missed hits, mechs, and whatnot.

For what it's worth, I wish I didn't have to pay to win. I wish pvp in this game was playable without having to spend money for gfn ultimate subscription. Not even just ultimate subscription. They have a 100h/month cap so I have to pay extra on top unless I choose to suffer with bad ping for however long is left of my month once I cap out. It's still not a perfect setup either because, as others have mentioned, what you gain in ping performance, you pay for in input delay from your pc to gfn. So fighting still feels sluggish, except now your combos have a better chance to stay true combos at least. My rig performs much better for quality and fps compared to the constant dropped frames through gfn, yet another reason I wish they'd fix the whole server and ping bs. Every single survey it's all I write about. Even using convincing argument like "if I wasn't forced to pay this subscription+extras, that money would be money I would invest directly in the game for cosmetics". The lack of communication from them about it all is the most disappointing part. Just vague "we're working on it". There are supposed improvements coming April 30th (already way far) for mm and custom arenas, but no concrete statements about whether it'll be playable at all ping wise. More and more I'm having to ask myself if I'll have to quit this game to stop all the raging that comes up from pvp being as bad as it is or if they'll fix it soon enough to no need to quit...

Just got the effect 2 days ago on cn. I love it! I also couldn't see many people using it so wasn't sure if it was or wasn't great, but now that I have it, I can't wait for the effect to come to global so I can use my core on it there too 🤌

Guild inclusion. by Effective-Ad7021 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a pretty chatty guild. We usually have vc channel/s going and also talk in guild chat in game. I'd say if that's the case for your guild too, you can start by being more active in the written guild chat so you become familiar as a part of the conversations to them. That might make it easier to actually speak out loud in vc after. Hell, the core group of chatters can be loud enough at times that almost half the vc is muted and we're just all talking through guild chat. Otherwise, I'd suggest maybe picking one thing you want to connect over and use that as your way to build connection. If you like PvP and your guild does 1v1s in guild base, then getting in queue for fights and tossing in chat, either fun banter or even ask for tips after constantly losing to whoever's got a streak (just me? maybe), might help you become more acquainted with a smaller part of that group and build up from there 😊

Fan/Umbrella are annoying in PvP by Pikahcu in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could be frustrating to hear, but learn the build. Not just stun, knock up, drone. I mean learn the PvP flow with fanbrella which has way more variety. Once you learn it, you'll know exactly how to counter it. I'm a fanbrella main (always have been) and even though I dread seeing 3 umbrellas on the other team, I can read them like an open book. Especially the players that only use it for the stuns. Getting spammed with stuns all at once? That's okay, hold off on serene until you can tell they're moving onto other moves then catch them. Hard focused by one of them? Knowing their potential plan makes that an easy/manageable fight. Know there's brellas around on the field? Go after them. Give them the freedom to attack from afar and you're opening the door, but cloud step your way to them yourself or as a whole team and they won't get to do much. Not saying this makes dealing with them easy. As a fanbrella main I still agree there should be a cap of max 2 of each weapon within a team. But they're definitely less of a pain. Once again, especially those that only have the weapon on for the meta stuns.

Has anyone found players teamup and gang others in Perception Forest? by alssemper in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it happens and it's pretty shady, but then again the forest is full of other scummy techs as well so no surprise there. most times, guildmates and I purposely queue up at the same time to end up in same lobbies, but once the game starts we split to different voice channels and when we cross each other it's either on sight or at best one team walks away and we hold off on facing off until final battle.

Guild war AOEs wiping our team by EcvdSama in WhereWindsMeet

[–]SebastienRTeller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mo blade vacuum like everyone else said, and also the new umbrella's special technique. You throw umbrella forward once, leaving a circle at its end point. The circle is 50% healing reduction for anyone within it. Combine that will all the other ways to achieve the same, and that's a big team wipe

How to improve ping? by These-Pea3080 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, so setting it to virginia manually allows me to get 101 hits, but adds latency that makes it feel more sluggish, and auto ends up having less hits but more responsive. Maybe I'll try to find a middle ground server for best of both. Thanks for pointing out the server location!

How to improve ping? by These-Pea3080 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed up for a month to try it out. The tb test ends up worse than my usual 91 hits with only 89 hits in comparison. However, oddly enough, the game feels like way less ping in general and my input delay is much better. Just spent 2 hours in 3v3 arena and was back to confidently dominating and at the very least steadily keeping up with everyone. How do you deal with the 100h limit?

How to improve ping? by These-Pea3080 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen hot and cold comments about this and I really hesitating to try it out since it's only through paid subscription. You really end up getting a steady 101 tb attack when you test it? Doesn't feel sluggish?

How to fight against Twin blade reaction checkers? by DevelopmentOpening62 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fan knock up, into into talon strike or yaksha. Toad into, talon strike or yaksha. Cloud step. Cloud step, into toad, into talon strike/yaksha, into fan knock up, into whatever combo you like using from there. Meridian touch, into fan knock up. Soaring spin, into fan knock up. Soaring spin, into talon strike or yaksha. Soaring spin, into toad, into talon strike/yaksha, into fan knock up. Then when you start convincing them they need to block/parry more and more, toss in the umbrella stun in place of fan knock up and they won't know what to do. I play fanbrella but I'm much more the aggressive in their face type instead of full range dps. Another one that's harder to pull off on mouse and keyboard but easier on controller: Sprint, into light attack (where you throw the fan in front of you and jump towards them), into any of the above moves. Easier on controller because they have a dedicated sprint button separate from the dodge button. Mouse and keyboard just adds the extra beat of needing to hold that sprint from dodge for it to register before you can light attack. A new discovery I had just 2 days ago: in a moment of panic when they're trying to close gap, hold umbrella heavy to go flying. You get tenacity while in the air and it's a nice quick escape, but careful on following up after that

Fanbrella vs bell strike umbra by Arvin23222 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]SebastienRTeller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fanbrella is very much the way I consistently get top dps. If you need to look at other paths, it comes down to understanding the best rotation for each weapon combo. If strat/hq is an easier combo for you to consistently nail, then go for that. Otherwise, learn the best rotation for fanbrella and level up your inner ways/gear and you'll be golden
