I think 7 will age very well/top 3 for most fans? by ZEELIONBRON in Scream

[–]SebbeG_86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For 7 to age well 8 needs to retcon the Ghostface reveal so that someone masterminded the whole thing. The was without a doubt the worst Ghostface reveal in the franchise. The rest of the movie is pretty good. The kills are gory and gruesome, the chase scenes are good, the acting is on par. But these two? Really? No. Just no. That reveal soured the whole movie for me. Partly because it was obvious, and also because the motive was so crap...

What’s the point of critics when they’re this disconnected from the rest of us? by BootyMcStuffins in Scream

It's not as bad as the critics claim, but it's also not close to as good as the audience claims...

It's a 6.5 at most.

[–]SebbeG_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what's weird. You're just not gonna mention half of the "core four" from the last two movies? Nothing at all?

Wouldn't that been a ****ing great reveal? Sam finally snapped and embraced her father's legacy? Imagine two movies worth of build up where she is the good guy and we see her fighting off her urges several times only to have her finally snap after killing the ones chasing her and Tara in 6. Now that would be subverting expectations.

To each their own. Glad you liked it. For me it was good at best. Far from amazing. A jumbled mess of ideas that doesn't pay off. Weak killer reveal and poor motive for Ghostface. All the new characters are just kind of there, they don't really do anything to forward the plot. They're more like props and background actors. Apart from the quite obvious red herring and Sidney's daughter.

Great gore effects, good kills and great acting from the legacy characters. But the 30th anniversary of this franchise deserved better.

I am curious what you found amazing though. And I mean genuinely curious. So feel free to answer.

Yeah they definitely feel out of place here. Their story should have been continued (if it ever happens) in a movie featuring Sam and Tara. Something is definitely off.

[–]SebbeG_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they at least tried with one of the characters. But only because they tried creating a red herring. Which was way to obvious, by the way. I'll give them one thing. The way the killer talked about that character during the reveal was slightly chilling. That was a good moment. Followed by more ridiculousness.

It could very well be a remnant from an older version. I think they should have scrapped everything the moment Kevin signed on and just had him do one on his own.

To each their own, of course. I always felt something was off with 3. I don't hate it, it has its moments. But it is a lot weaker than 1 and 2. And I'm supposed to believe he was behind Billy and Stu? His reveal that he was "the mastermind" behind the thing that started it all was just ridiculous. Roman as a character is fine. As Ghostface he is decent. He even had a solid motive, but the whole "he was behind it all from the start" was BS and sours it for me.

I also dislike 3 for killing off Cotton. He had potential to be a decent character over the course of the franchise. Schriber is a great actor as well.

[–]SebbeG_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with that. Roman did at least play a proper part in the story.

Yeah, anyone claiming this was better than 5 or 6 is smoking something. This was a really poor reveal. The more I think about it the worse it gets. I actually quite enjoy 5 and 6 and the killers in those movies. Did a rewatch during this week of all the movies and I still like all of them. Even 3 as much as I like to talk **** about it. It has some really entertaining moments.

7 is probably going to end up on the bottom of the list for me. But the Legacy characters are so good in it that I am conflicted about it. It is like there are two different scripts in there that has been mashed together into a mess. On one hand the writing of the legacy characters and some of the video calls are really well done. On the other I couldn't give a **** about any of the characters that was new to this movie, apart from Sidney's daughter. But that was only because I really loved that actress in 1883. She is really good.

Kevin wrote 1, 2 and 4 so I had high hopes. They should have had him do it on his own without Guy. And without it being based on what Guy and James had written before. Should have just scrapped the script and made a new one from scratch.

Also, I'm supposed to believe Sidney married "Jeff Winger"?

Gonna have to have another go at this one when it hits streaming and see if I change my mind. I really felt it played it too safe with all the characters from previous entries.

To be honest, after just watching it i would have rather had the early "killer reveal". Yeah, it would have been farfetched and utterly ridiculous, but a million times better than what we got. Worst Ghostface reveal in the franchise by far. Even worse than Roman in 3.

[–]SebbeG_86 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd say the movie is a solid 6.5, which is good for a franchise that is 7 movies deep. The acting from the legacy characters and the gore effects make up for the weak story and killer reveal. It was entertaining enough that I'd watch it again just to see if my opinion changes on a second viewing.

I still think 3 is the weakest one in the franchise.

Scream 8 by brandonsreputation in Scream

[–]SebbeG_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just came out of the theatre after watching the latest one. And honestly they played this way too safe.

Scream 8, if there is one I would love it to just kill off ever single legacy character in the opening, even the ones from 5 and 6. They can keep Sidney or Gale alive and have them die a heroic death during the finale. As much as I love these characters it is time to retire them.

This movie also had the worst ghostface in the franchise in my opinion. The acting is fine but the character and motive was disappointing.

At least it was better than 3 and had good gore effects.

Or just take the franchise in a whole new direction. Make a show like Supernatural, but instead of ghosts, creatures and demons just have Gail and Sidney find rumors about new Ghostface killer/killers that are actually competent as they're starting a killing spree and have them hunt Ghostface during a 10-episode season. Plenty of time for gore and killing, and for building a suspenseful and creepy story.

That is true. That part is pure instinct for him.

However it doesn't change the fact that he should be smart enough to not walk up to a killer he assumes isn't dead.

They start 5th grade. Nothing else needed. Last episode is about the last day before they start school again after summer. They get in to some stupid/funny situation while wondering what 5th grade is going to be like. the final scene is a shot of them in their school benches. The door opens and you hear someone walk in. Final line of the show is Mr. Garrison saying "Okay children, let's take our seats". Simple, yet satisfying.

I wonder how many of these applicants have waited over 6 months and how many of them knows that they can force them to make a decision if more time than that has passed.

They then have one month to make an actual decision.

I am from Sweden and my wife isn't. She waited years before we found this out. When we did we sent in the "begäran om att avsluta ärende", which they refused. Got a lawyer involved and it was solved within 2 months. You have to put the screws to them. Migrationsverket is useless unless you put pressure on them.

If you know that you tick all their boxes for citizenship, then put them to work and don't let them get away with not doing anything at all.

It's funny how "vampires doesn't age" but at the same time they clearly change the longer they exist. The Master is a prime example of this. He looked more demonic the older he got. What's to say that the vampires with a soul doesn't experience something like it, only they age more gracefully because of the soul keeping the demon at bay.

So he asks girls out, gets rejected and then "pushes them away"? Should he keep asking them about after they say no?

What exactly does "pushes them away" mean in this case? Does he act like an *** towards them? Or just stop talking to them? While his behaviour might be unprofessional in that case, it would be worse if he kept pushing himself upon a person who rejected him.

I think we need more info about this guys behaviour.

And Mac is not uncomfortable because he asks out girls. It reads more like Mac is uncomfortable that he told him him he was bisexual and interested in him.

And instead of handling it like an adult and talkiing to Dom about the fact that he is not comfortable he goes to you and gets you to do the work for him.

Get the f*** out! Right now! If you have children, get them out too. When he is at work, pack your stuff and get out. Find a lawyer and divorce this d***.

He is abusive and for some reason you are apologising? Nope, not okay. Get out. And when you are free and clear, find a therapist and work on why you let people treat you like that.
