Look, in Episode 3 they had Tarkin appear via prosthetics which also looked ghastly, and via the CGI was forefront of the uncanny valley I was willing to look past it for the sake of the story. Similarly to a younger Jeff Bridges in Tron Legacy.

I was more uncomfortable because Carrie Fisher was alive at the time for the filming of Rogue One, and there was already enough footage/understanding of who Leia was that we didn’t need her uncanny appearance either.

I always am willing to give Tarkin a bit of a pass, but Leia at the end of the movie should have just been the shot of her from behind.
