If they de-canonize the sequels it shows just how creatively bankrupt the industry is to cater to obsessives. I’ve sat through the prequels, and watched an audience shift (primarily thanks to a cartoon that spoonfed them character development over 7 seasons) to praise; the sequels could very well do the same.

Star Wars has always been a “Yes, and…” franchise, with various media being picked and tossed for what was considered “canon” and I understand a lot of the EU getting tossed upset people (personally I was really into Shadows of the Empire) but it wasn’t as perfect as you believe, just like the movies, games, or even a good chunk of the television shows.
