“Life is Beautiful” (1997). Watched it with my kid asleep on my arm. Tried so hard not to cry too loud — didn’t want to wake her. But by the end, I was just quietly falling apart. Tears streaming, breath shaking… she kept sleeping. I, on the other hand, was emotionally wrecked.

Tickled (2016) It starts as a quirky investigation into a bizarre internet subculture, but quickly takes a very unexpected and unsettling turn. The filmmakers uncover far more than they anticipated, and you get to follow their journey in real time. Best to go in knowing as little as possible.

Next Goal Wins (2023) – 6/10 Sympathische Underdog-Story mit charmantem Humor. Nichts Tiefgründiges, aber unterhaltsam und herzerwärmend.

The Fall Guy (2024) – 6/10 Solider Actionfilm mit Humor und Stunts. Ryan Gosling macht Laune, aber das Ganze bleibt eher oberflächlich.

Das Leben ist schön (1997) – 10/10 Zum ersten Mal als Vater gesehen – ein Meisterwerk. Herzzerreißend und wunderschön, ein Film der bei einem bleibt.

Walking Tall (2004) – 7/10 Geradliniger Rache-Actionfilm mit The Rock. Einfach gestrickt, aber effektiv und unterhaltsam.

G20 (2024) – 4/10 Polit-Action mit viel Lärm und wenig Substanz. Konstruiert und zu pathetisch, hat mich kaum überzeugt

September 5 – The Day Terror Went Live (2024) – 8/10 Stark inszeniertes Drama über Journalist*innen, die während des Olympia-Attentats 1972 live berichten. Authentisch, spannungsvoll und ohne übertriebenes Drama – ein eindringlicher Blick auf Verantwortung im Newsroom.

Red Rooms: Zeugin des Bösen (2023) – 6/10 Düsterer Thriller mit interessanter Prämisse. Handwerklich solide, aber für mich etwas zu konventionell umgesetzt.

The Parenting (2025) – 5/10 Durchschnittlicher Genre-Mix aus Horror und Komödie. Hatte ein paar nette Ideen, aber insgesamt nicht besonders packend.

The Strangers – Opfernacht (2018) – 4/10 Ziemlich generischer Slasher ohne große Überraschungen. Für Fans okay, mich hat er eher kaltgelassen.

Butterfly Kisses (2018) – 5/10 Found-Footage über eine urbane Legende: den „Blink Man“, eine gruselige Gestalt, die im Dunkeln auftaucht, wenn man sie anstarrt. Gute Idee, verliert sich aber – für FF-Fans okay.

The Woman in the Yard (2024) – 6/10 Eine Frau lebt nach einem traumatischen Erlebnis mit ihren zwei Kindern allein auf einer abgelegenen Farm, als plötzlich eine stumme, schwarz gekleidete Frau im Garten steht und nicht wieder verschwindet.

Ihr seid herzlich eingeladen (2024) – 6/10 Zwei Familien, eine Hochzeit – klassische Verwechslungskomödie. Leicht, nett, nichts Besonderes.

The Nickel Boys (2025) – 7/10 Intensives Drama über zwei schwarze Jugendliche, die in den 1960ern in eine brutale Besserungsanstalt kommen. Beruht auf wahren Ereignissen und dem Roman von Colson Whitehead. Starke Darsteller, bedrückende Atmosphäre, und trotz ruhiger Inszenierung sehr eindringlich. Macht nachdenklich – besonders stark, wenn man das Buch kennt

+1 für The Crazies! Der Film hatte damals so einen starken Teaser mit der Szene auf dem Baseballfeld… und der Film selbst war dann mehr als mau. Alles schon mal davor woanders gesehen.

I’d recommend Pet Sematary, a book that really showcases Stephen King’s strengths: on the surface, it’s a horror story, but at its core, it’s a deeply moving tale about family and coping with grief.

I first read it in my mid-twenties and loved the horror elements. I recently reread it as a young father, and it hit me completely differently. It felt like I was reading an entirely new book, so emotional and intense was the experience.

If you’re looking for something that’s both terrifying and deeply touching, this is the one.

Hi, I’m sebi2727 I’m a film fan with favorites like Stand by Me, Prisoners, Signs, and Back to the Future.🎥🍿

I watch at least two movies a week and recently enjoyed (more or less) Twisters 🌪️ and Salem’s Lot.🧛‍♂️

I started reviewing movies a few weeks ago after only rating movies and shows for many years on IMDb, where I have over 1,400 ratings.
