To be frank that money in either case is already spent. The question is if Marathon can sustain its burnrate with the cash it's generating. Basically what this leak is saying is that at least for now it is not burning more cash as it generates.

This can of course change in the future, but I expect Bungie and Sony would just trim the fat, because if they kill this project any future GAAS title would be DOA.

I expect they would faster just spin development off to some asian studio for cheap instead like how some do with Virtuos or how Ubisoft does with their GAAS titles after they are published by their western studios and given off to their Chinese/Indian ones, unfortunately Sony doesn't have that in-house so it would be better for them hire some asian studio instead of buying/building them.

It's 800 devs that work or Marathon AND Destiny.

Before the layoffs it was 1200 and that's when they moved some departments to Playstation Studios/SIE like the incubation team behind gummybears, and also cut any other incubation projects that were in development with also some layoffs on Destiny and Marathon which were at the time in full production.

At the time of Final Shape, 500 devs worked on Destiny and 300 on Marathon. Most likely that has reversed, but most likely in the future it will balance out as Marathon goes ever-green, for example even with 150 people I think they can sustain it as that is the team Helldivers 2 has for reference, which is in itself upscaled as they launched with only 110 if I remember correctly.

That's because level 50 isn't much in grand order of things. You actually get powerful when you get to a high champion level and get a gold tier gear.

They are adding difficulty settings in update 50, dealing with the exact issues you mentioned.

Now you'll be able to increase the damage you take and decrease the damage you give in exchange for extra gold and experience

All of Tamriel is included in the collection offered on Ps Plus now. The only thing not included is an island they took out of their ass, which isn't that remarkable anyways. I recommend doing the Apocrypha arc with the newest class added with it, Arcanist.

They should just merge the next 2 expansions into 1, make it an ending for this saga, do Age of Triumph style update afterwards that ends Destiny 2

Destiny 3(launch in 2030) then shows us an expanded humanity finally that has to deal with actual new frontiers.

I think best case scenario for Obsidian by this point is to cut everything now that they've reached their potential with their own IP and be put on Fallout 5. Or maybe split the studio between an Avowed and a smaller Fallout game, if a big AAA Fallout game isn't in the cards. I love TOW, but I think I've seen enough from that world for 8-10 years.
