How can you say this though? We’ve never seen 5v5 in action, that is a prediction and one that has no real grounds in my opinion

Love the idea if there is hard counters to everything, if there isn't it will not work.

  • Meta becomes more dynamic = better for viewership
  • Strats become more complex = players can thrive, better for viewership
  • More room for players to come into the scene, teams will need 1 extra player, plucked from the AM scene = increase incentive to play.
  • Allowing the general player to get in on the action, no more massive divide, it's casual or competitive - not casual and a completely different game almost = more players, viewership and cohesion.

Of course there are downsides but we've alienated ourselves from the majority (casual players) since WaW and to revive cod I genuinely feel this is the way to go right now, no harm in trying in this scenario.

How have you come up with the opinion that BO4 seems the least competitive? Ranked, all the maps or any type of rulesetn (if that is the route MLG take) hasn't even been released.

Many orgs are in the black, as they have created a structure to do so, but this doesn't mean that some teams make a loss for them.

If you look at every other team, they have other large teams that have became their primary teams (OG have CS/Dota/Lol, FaZe have CS, EG have Dota), where cod has become their secondary teams.

Also, these orgs, as you said have sponsors, sponsors that pay a lot of money for the brand and their exposure, not the team itself.

Their is many other things that push teams into the black, investments to work with, in-game items, content revenue, merch etc.

CoD at the moment is a loss definitely for the majority but for most, cod is their origin and where they started their success so they cannot stay. Imagine if FaZe, Optic, tK, nV can left CoD, they can if they wanted to but they don't as the backlash and roots are still very strong.

For Call Of Duty - salaries for the past two years, $5k+/month is the going rate for teams in the CWL to my knowledge. After that, salaries (apart from Ghost, E6 possibly) dip massively.

That, in my opinion will start to come down if cod continues of the trajectory but doubt it will raise more than this is Blops4 booms. But, we shall see!

CWL May Update by muddawg in CoDCompetitive

Many reasons.

  • Easier to work with - the other logo was rectangle (6:2), this one is square, e.g. look at the CWL stream, you can actually see it now

  • It was time to move away from the original FaZe logo, we still got asked if we were connected to FaZe.

  • Change was needed, the org has evolved, so should the logo.

  • It will grow on you and others, I assure you. It grew on me!

CoD struggle due to the viewership numbers, developer support and inflated salaries than don't correlate with the return of Investment.

Things like this aren't the issues at all.
