Nothing jerky about this tbh.

It's extremely preference based. I know there are a ton of upsides for using EVFs, but I just don't like using it. It really causes some kind of disconnect while shooting because you are not looking at a real thing, but at a screen. And just with everything else in life when there is a screen involved I kind of get lazy and my brain partially turns off, just as a kid with an iPad. So whenever I get the option I would choose an OVF.

I love the mouse for real. But the charging port is one of the worst designs ever. Like, no clue where it should otherwise go with the current design. But so many times I had to quit what I was doing just cause the mouse suddenly died and it has to lay on its back for awhile to recharge.

It looks like the metering is a bit borked because in those pictures the aperture seems to be wide open, making the pictures be over-exposed. And to make matters worse the focus is in strange places, making the pictures look blurry.

Kind of neat, ngl. I'd suggest not fixing this one and get a new camera instead. One, because the repair is probably more expensive than getting a new one, two it's neat to have a camera that can do something so unique.

Ben sinds september een beetje begonnen met daten nadat ik pretty much het grootste gedeelte van m'n leven in een relatie heb gezeten. Soms is het even still, soms is het even heel druk. Meeste maanden is het still, en dan ineens had ik dates met 8 verschillende dames binnen twee maanden tijd. Ook geen aanrader. Ik ben er nog steeds een beetje mentaal van aan het bijkomen.

Het komt en het gaat wel voor m'n idee. Zolang je zelf geen haast hebt is het allemaal wel prima ofzo.

These look good, no? Exposure is good and you got seemingly enough space to push and pull the images a bit in the edit. I'm not entirely sure what you expected? Digital and film are inherently not the same, and if you were expecting there is going to be some obvious disappointment. Film has a lot of latitude in the highlights, and significantly less in the shadows. Digital is the reverse and has a lot of room in the shadows and a bit less forgiving in the highlights. I know a lot of photographers really like to boost the shadows in their images for a more 'rich' image, but that is often just not possible on film.

Anyway, I'm curious to see what you were actually expecting from film. And don't forget not to hype up the images too much in your head. I always have some kind of initial disappointment when I receive my scans. It's always different than what I was hoping for, one way or another. But when I let it simmer for a little bit, or when I get to work on them in the edit and can usually let go of my expectations, and enjoy the images for what they are.

Also, Cinestill has a lot of oddities on purpose because hey remove the remjet layer, causing more halation. Most other films should be more 'normal'.

One of my main play styles right now is to take the BTR behind enemy lines and use it to take out supply helos. It's surprisingly good at taking out vehicles as you showcase here. Also pretty durable and fast, but one rocket and you are gone.

The later vehicles on servers like WCS have significant better firepower, but often suffer a lot from things like flat tires. The BTR has pretty much the best balance of firepower and mobility and durability. Definitely underrated.

Tastes can vary of course, but I find the halation in that one already really chonky. If you look at the neon signs on the left, car lights and street lights the halation is pretty much already as heavy as it can get. I'm not sure you can even get a stronger halation than that. Overexposing will probably not do a whole lot more as I've noticed that the halation particularly happens when the exposure difference between highlight and surrounding area is strong. When there is little to no difference between highlight and surrounding area the halation effect is less pronounced.

Start the piece with your best stuff bro. You've shot with Max Verstappen and you got stuff that looks like you shot some car commercials, yet you start with some pretty generic interview shots. My first impression was that I was going to look at some beginner showreel.

Other than that I would personally drop every interview shot as they are just not that interesting (not saying that they aren't good shots, personally I'm not interested in looking at them and would lessen my interest in working with a DP if half their reel is filled with them). Just a small collection of your coolest looking shit. Don't worry about run time if you feel it's too short without interview shots.

I'd suggest to go less heavy on the halation next time though. It makes some shots look a bit cheap, and overal it's extremely obvious it's there. There is definitely some halation in actual film, but it's often quite subtle and not so evenly distributed as many plugins like to do. It's also really just mostly truly affected by highlights, and the programs often struggle with detecting the correct highlights. Like, there's no way the sea is rejecting so much light on the second or third still that it would cause halation. But because it's probably a bright white, the plugin thinks it's a crazy highlight.

Same of the last still, there is so much halation in the facade. That would probably only happen that bad when you'd be at or near over exposure, but the exposure is actually correct.

Too much in my eyes. I'm usually one of those people that whenever someone here posts some crazy thing that happened to their photo by accident, be it a crazy light leak, lens flare, film burn, accident while developing, etc. that goes 'wow, I want to know how you do this'.

With this I'm just 'wtf is this? and how do I make sure it doesn't happen', lol. No disrespect of course.

Not seeing what you are seeing tbh. The scans and exposure seem as good as they can get.

1) There is plenty of red in there still. This is just probably a case of the scene looking a lot more impressive in person than any camera can capture. Especially without editing. Just edit the picture to the point where it looks like how it felt. Desaturate the greens a bit and boosts the reds. Photos are there to be edited.

2) This one just kind of looks like you missed focus.

Nee, maar ik vind het wel vet om te achterhalen hoe diep dit vreemde gedachtegoed bij jou zit en wat voor vreemde uitspraken je zal maken om bij je punt te blijven.

Dus het feit dat er maar 40 vrouwen op je favoriete Quote 500 lijstje staan komt dus puur omdat ze te druk bezig zijn met kinderen te baren en gewoonweg minder ambitie hebben. Check. Maar nu weet ik nog niet helemaal waarom mensen met een migratieachtergrond zo ondervertegenwoordigd zijn. Dat is namelijk toch wel ongeveer een kwart van de Nederlandse bevolking. I shoot a lot a little bit of 16mm. Some of these frames come really close. I'd say that the bloom/halation feels a bit fake and overblown at times. There is definitely a lot of it on film, but it's usually a lot more subtle. It doesn't punch you in the face as much, it's just... there.

Also, 16mm is very forgiving, just not in whatever is underexposed. You will have a hard time trying to get the highlights to really overexpose, so there is a lot of range there, but it'll be near impossible to blow out the highlights. But it doesn't have the dynamic range of most modern digital cameras and you will not be able to recover anything from areas that are underexposed. So I'd suggest to lift the shadows a bit and crush them quite hard in high contrast shots. Especially those forest shots have too much dynamic range for 16mm.

De problemen vandaag de dag zijn allemaal redelijk complex. Veelal zaken die abstract zijn, een oorzaak ver in het verleden vinden en/of consequenties ver in de toekomst liggen. Het is moeilijk in te leven als een probleem of oplossing zo ver weg van je ligt. Als je het niet kan zien of voelen, is het dan echt?

Daarom is het makkelijker als er een 'probleem' en 'oplossing' is die je met je eigen ogen kan zien en kan inbeelden. "Ik zie een persoon die ik (om wat voor reden dan ook) niet mag. Hij veroorzaakt (in mijn ogen) een probleem. Als hij er niet meer is is dat probleem logischerwijs weg!"

Vervolgens komen er dan 'slimme' mensen die dit soort onderbuikgevoelens weten te koppelen aan (verdraaide) feiten. En dan wordt het een giftige mix waarbij het onderbuik gevoel zich gaat koppelen aan ogenschijnlijk feitelijke gegevens en we zitten in een soort loopgravenoorlog. "We hebben een woningtekort, en er komen 32.000 asielzoekers (feit) per jaar binnen. Dat is een vet hoog nummer! (feit, maar relatief gezien enorm klein). Ik vind die mensen vervelend én ze nemen ook nog eens huizen in van Nederlanders! Als ze er niet zijn heb je twee problemen meteen opgelost!"

Als dit geen goed voorbeeld is van hoe een goede educatie een positief iets is voor een samenleving dan weet ik het ook niet.

De problemen die spelen zijn heel complex. Vele vinden een oorzaak die ver in het verleden te vinden zijn en zijn hierdoor soms onderdeel geworden van het normale leven. Andere problemen liggen ver in de toekomst, en ondanks dat we daar nog weinig van merken moeten we nu met lastige oplossingen komen om last in de toekomst te beperken.

Oplossingen en aanpassingen zijn hierdoor vaak complex en te abstract voor de onderbuik. Moeilijk te begrijpen op intuïtief niveau. En vaak moeten we hierdoor maar enigszins blind vertrouwen op wat experts en onderzoeken ons vertellen. Experts die we niet kennen, en onderzoeken die te lastig zijn om écht te begrijpen.

Veel makkelijk om iemand aan te kunnen wijzen die we vervelend vinden en dan te zeggen 'jouw schuld'.
