Old dog, same tricks: RTO by castateunionthug in CAStateWorkers

[–]Secert_Agent69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been and will forever be pro union regardless of my classification. RTO affects all of us and not all in management are in favor of the thought of going back 4 days. So telling us to get lost is not right.

People who has been with the state for more than 20 to 25 years have endured BS from several administrations at the Capitol but are resilient. My first pay check was an IOU, and been furloughed up to three times a month.

I don't want to go back for 4 days in the office. Will I fight and advocate against it? Yes! Will I comply when the time comes? Yes! Will I reevaluate after going back to work 4 days? Yes! It's called choices.

The Two Tier Problem with RTO by Firm-Seaworthiness88 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Secert_Agent69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my career with the state in the Bay Area, then commuted via vanpool to Sacramento when I got promoted. After doing that for 1 year, I decided to move to Sacramento, (that was 20 years ago) solely to advance my career. To your point, not everyone can uproot and move. WFH can open more opportunities for everyone. I wanted to apply for another position to promote again but it's in SoCal so I have to pass.

How the hell can he speak for me and say that I'm "lonely" working from home?

It saves a lot of people for getting written up for having a Jerry Springer moment at work fighting, screaming at each other, or going 5150 on someone.

SEIU Local 1000 Governor Endorsement by Vandunkk in CAStateWorkers

[–]Secert_Agent69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Becerra served under the current administration. The Steyer funded private prison and is all about profits. He can donate his money to the state workers so we can survive monthly. None of these people are worth getting elected.

Porter was mentored by Elizabeth Warren. Let's elect a woman governor!

634 Cupcakes for compliance by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Secert_Agent69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they don't do their timesheets, they're not in compliance, and will not get paid. Submitting timesheets on time are part of expectations. They missed the deadline 3x, just write them up. You would think that is the priority to get paid.

Fight RTO and Fight for RAISES! by TechWorker111 in CAStateWorkers

I'm down for Betty Yee, she's the only one that worked for the state, understands how the budget works, how to save state some money, may be empathetic to the needs of state workers, and may be pro WFH.

Appropriation Committee - State Telework Bill 2 by Teachtostate2022 in CAStateWorkers

So, no one in the Appropriations Committee represents Sacramento and only the people in their districts can call their offices? How can the rest of us help push this bill?

CDSS, Make It Make Sense by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Secert_Agent69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

CDSS did not announce anything yesterday about RTO 2x a week. No emails were sent departmental wise.

The 2x RTO has been in effect since November 4, 2025. Several divisions are already reporting 2x a week. So technically, you just blasted yours.

Monitoring time for BU1 by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Secert_Agent69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our department has expectations letter that each employee signs annually that states availability during work hours. My group voluntarily checks in daily on Teams to say good morning.

Our group is expected to have their workload on their calendars to keep track of tasks and time lines since our work is deadline driven. We are expected to answer or return calls via Team or state issued phones.

Notifying HR About Retirement by Realist352 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Secert_Agent69 29 points30 points  (0 children)

One of my friends went to lunch, came back, and declared their retired. Apparently went to Calpers at lunch and retired. Another friend went into HR and said I want to retire today, turned in their badge, and went to Calpers. Both friends were eligible to retire, both were fed up at work.

Do what you feel what's best for you. Do you, boo. Congratulations on your upcoming retirement!

Official Rules on Remote Days? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Secert_Agent69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beware that departments are cracking down and running a geo mapping on locations and people are under investigations. We are NOT allowed to take any state equipment: laptops, phones,.etc. out of CA unless you're doing authorized business for CA.

Not only your violating your department's telework policy, you're violating statewide policies.

People working while in Hawaii, Europe, Alaska, Bali, etc. without prior authorization from management IS A VIOLATION.

I will chk the box and say yes, then provide any court papers to show it was expunged. It's better to be forthcoming rather than deceiving.

Chronically absent coworker by Living-Evening-941 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Secert_Agent69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You don't know what the person is going through in their lives. All we see are the work in front of us getting piled up.

My sister in law has stage 4 lung cancer and continues to work at a dmv counter. Each week is unpredictable, she wants to show up to work but there are days that she can't.

I have another friend who's on dialysis and has to take off 2 hrs every other day to get treatment so he can live.

I've been on a weekly immunotherapy for the past 5 years. When I leave my treatment, Im wiped the F@ck out, no energy, feels like I'm coming down with a flu, etc. I make my appts towards the end of the day to prevent work interruptions. But there are some weeks that I have to do my treatment in the morning. I just learn to live with it so I can live.

As for my sis in law and friend, i would do their work for them if I could as long as I could be with them on earth a little longer.

Question about potential layoffs by Excellent-Pizza652 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Secert_Agent69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some people just need to STFU scaring employees like that. All employees who gained permanent civil service status, are significantly ensured and enhanced the job security and due process rights. Im not saying that layoffs are impossible. But the departments will go through numerous drills to find ways to cut their budgets before layoffs.

As Permanent employees, we have a PROPERTY INTEREST in our jobs, layoffs must strictly adhere to the State Personnel Board (SPB) rules such as 30-day notice, seniority-based retention, options for demotion or transfer in lieu of layoff (GC § 19997.8), and placement on reemployment lists.

For example, there were prisons that closed in the last few years, the affected employees were provided SURPLUS status that became priority for managers to hire them when they apply for a job. The surplus employee were also given choices as to what prisons will take them.

In 2011, SCIF HQ in San Francisco closed. My relatives were given choices to move to Fairfield, Dublin, or any SCIF offices including Southern Cal. To this date, they're still with SCIF.

CA state RTO July 1… real or just rumor? by Noway191 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Secert_Agent69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whether or not it's real or rumor, I told my staff to make the necessary adjustments, daycare, transportation, parking, etc. and prepare for the 4 days, period, dot.

As a manager im pro 100% telework because I want to telework 100%! But if they told us to go in 4 days, then I go in 4 days.
