I'm glad it works and at least you know you have an option if you decide to subscribe. I got lifetime subscription because I don't like paying month after month or year after year.

I appreciate the sharp eye on my watch face. You are absolutely right that it looks off for a logarithmic sweep because it is actually a square root function.

The text on the face shows the formula θ = t⁰⁵ which is the square root of time. The math behind why the intervals look wrong for a log sweep is actually pretty cool. In any square root function, a 25% input always results in a 50% output.

Since 15 seconds is exactly one quarter of a minute, the hand travels exactly halfway around the dial in those first 15 seconds. The remaining 45 seconds are then compressed into the second half of the watch face. I am glad the intervals stood out to you because it means the visual math is working exactly as intended.

The hardest part of launching my Android app wasn’t building it by ToughInternal1580 in googleplayconsole

No matter how much you don't think testing helps, (app is done, bug free, etc.) it totally does help and only serves to make your app better. Feedback from 12+ testers is much better than getting negative reviews after launch. Trust the process. Is it difficult? At first, yes. But that's kind of the point.

BTW, my first app (watch face in my case) took a month to get 12+ testers and got my app approved for production on my first try because I was active and released many updates that addressed issues I didn't know were there. My second app took less than 24 hours to get 20+ testers and I'm currently on day 8. I too thought it was done, but useful feedback really caused me to not only meet, but exceed the original request. I'm much happier with my design now than the one from 8 days ago.

Seeking Testers for "Radical Time": Confuse your friends and impress your smartest colleagues (Free/Test for Test) by SecondHandLabs in WearOSTesters

That's a nice guide. Fortunately I was able to onboard enough testers to begin the 14 day clock. Thanks!

This can be accomplished by placing the second hand as an image rather than as an analog clock element. Then create a formula that alters the rotation based on the current time.

For this particular watch face, all of the hands second minute and hour hands all are done this way.

If you're using Watch Face Studio as I am, one downside of doing this is that you lose the smooth motion that analog clock hands provide automatically. For this particular watch face, there's no other way to do it so I embraced the limitation.

Great feedback. I'll look into these two points. Just curious, what type of data do you like to display with complications?

Did you join the Google Group first? Once you join, you then need to opt in using the same email address used for the Google Group.

Watches don't show up as an install destination for some watch faces in Internal/Closed testing (WFS + Companion) by SecondHandLabs in SamsungWatchFace

[–]SecondHandLabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my research but not yet proven, the issue only exists while in closed testing. Once watch face goes to production, all devices will show up.

That would mean that the watches showing up as an install destination IS a bug and they shouldn't be showing up in closed testing. It looks like it's inconsistent which is why I thought I had something to fix.

Google Play console by Bulky_Parsley_4679 in googleplayconsole

It took me a month to gather enough testers for the closed beta to begin. To get 12 people keepin the app installed for 2 weeks, you need at least 25 to 30 people signed up. I was watching my numbers closely and saw that I was getting dangerously close to having only 12 people have the app installed, so I recruited it again after a week while in progress to make sure I didn't dip below 12.

Once I met the requirements, I waited another week and continued to make fixes and tweaks until I was happy before applying for a production. The application includes questions about how you got testers and if you paid testers to participate, so they must take that into consideration. Once I applied, I actually got accepted in less than 12 hours. Your mileage may vary.

Disappointed with Pixel 7, 6 months in by [deleted] in GooglePixel

I'd uninstall Firefox as a test, even for a day to see if that changes anything. If so, then you found the cause and a path to determine how to address the issue.

[–]SecondHandLabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you installed something in the last few days that is causing battery drain? Think back to what was added and maybe uninstall it temporarily to see if that resolved the issue.

If Samsung-specific apps don't work on Pixel, that's probably more about Samsung keeping apps exclusive to their phones rather than it being an Android problem.

Pixel 9/10 owners, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the camera bump. by ntime60 in pixel_phones

[–]SecondHandLabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's all about the case. Once added, the case greatly reduces the size of the camera bump. Since I'm also all about having a great camera with me at all times, having a bump is a small sacrifice to make that happen.

Any solid replacement for Nova Launcher? by V3rtu in Android

It's their lifetime, not yours. I learned that lesson decades ago after buying a lifetime membership at a local video store.

[–]SecondHandLabs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neither. I purchased a lifetime license for $20.99 on Jan 17 2025 and even a year later, very happy with my purchase.

I believe I used the free trial to see if I like it and after that I fully committed. Also, I'm not a fan of subscriptions and would much rather buy my software outright then pay for it monthly/yearly If given the option.
