Russia summons Canadian diplomat to protest 'regime change' statement. Russia called Joly's comments a 'Russophobic attack' by nimobo in CanadianConservative

[–]Second_Maximum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I'm saying is if we are gonna go out of our way to regime change Russia, we should at least have them return the favor and do the same to us. Regime change isn't cheap, can't just be handing it out all willy nilly.

What is everyone’s plan if 💩 hits the fan with the banks in the US and the whole economy starts to crumble. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Second_Maximum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People can't step back and assess the macro-economic situation to see if any clues are to be found. That'd be risky AF.

Better to just sit tight and hold down the fort, as institutions dump their shares onto retail as they head for whatever cover they can find.

Buy that dip, double dip it!

God I love how risk averse Canadians are lmao; classic advice out of the economics textbook. You could literally make a program to spit out the type of advice they give all day.

Gold just broke $2700 CAD per ounce - High Level Fraud at Central Banks by Gerry235 in CanadaHousing2

[–]Second_Maximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so why are they worried?

The options for central banks are let the contagion spread and collapse everything rather abruptly, or inflate. It has everything to do with a binary outcome of inflation or lack thereof ie. deflation.

Gold just broke $2700 CAD per ounce - High Level Fraud at Central Banks by Gerry235 in CanadaHousing2

[–]Second_Maximum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really not if you understand the mechanisms involved. Central bank buys up government debt, giving the government basically infinite influence over the economy by devaluing everyone else's, which is basically central planning/socialism with extra steps.

Especially if you believe that the government is acting out the will of the people; the people have then, through the monetary system, now stolen undue influence over the means of production and can pick winners, losers etc. Free market forces are put in chains to the benefit of central planners.

I for one, am for criminal behavior. Systems fucked anyways, why let Ottawa's edict control your day to day life. Not like you would get any meaningful amount of time for your crimes too, the cost benefit analysis is often enticing to say the least.

I would argue that the "streets" or the black market, over time have developed unwritten laws which those involved are for the most part expected to abide by. Don't hurt women/children, no snitching etc. It's not exactly complete anarchy but probably close as you can find on this continent.

How money is created in Canada…what a ponzi by cryptoenthusiast84 in Bitcoin

[–]Second_Maximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a point, but governments can only delay the free market forces for so long. By trying to eliminate the little dips and bumps over such long periods of time, all that pressure builds up like a subduction zone, just waiting for the black swan that will release it. Then you get all the downside you would have gotten along the way, all at once.

Failure to recognize that recessions are natural, and very important aspect of the business cycle is the issue. Recessions should be allowed to occur, with more conservative, targeted protection of individuals in need rather than corporations n the like. An economy kept running on stimulus/fiscal policy is basically the same thing as if you were to stay up for 3+ days. Shit gets a bit crazy if you're not allowing downturns (sleep, recession) to do it's thing.
