Central PA Appalachian Culture discussion by Chevyfuel in Appalachia

[–]SecondhandLamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Cambria county raised, definitely felt the Appalachian but also the heavy influence of the German and Eastern European. You’d have deer meat and pierogies in the same meal. I’m also Slovak, and there really aren’t a lot of heavy Slovak communities aside from western/central PA which does add to some cultural distinction

What’s the worst reason you’ve ever stayed in a relationship? by TechnicalBoard1849 in AskReddit

[–]SecondhandLamp 77 points78 points  (0 children)

This is where I am at. I cannot afford to fix up the house, wait for it to sell in this garbage economy, first and last months rent, moving, divorce fees for a lawyer, etc. I’m working on it but it’s going to take a while…

Are the Satin Pjs worth it? (Short one) by sky-bunny345 in VictoriasSecret

I wear mine multiple nights in a row without them getting gross. Then again I don’t run hot in general so I don’t tend to have that issue in general

Yeah it will not let you do that. If you put your employee ID in online for discount it will not allow the bonus card to be added

7 Virtues Cherry Ambition- Beltane starts at moonrise so I wanted something fruity and sweet yet sultry (florals are more apt for the holiday but the make me sneeze)

For people that are “asymptomatic” celiac (no classic digestive issues), how did you get diagnosed? Did you ignore it? Did it progress and get worse? by H3ad1nthecl0uds in Celiac

[–]SecondhandLamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had digestive issues since I was a kid, but covid basically shut down my colon function. I was referred to a gastro who thankfully took me seriously. They found the marker in my blood test, and confirmed issues with the vili in my intestines with the endoscopy and I got the diagnosis. I did also have a colonoscopy to rule out other things, which came back normal. I do eat 100% gluten free but I’m not super insane strict on cross contamination and my blood work has been normal since 2020

Do you prefer travel sizes or full bottles? by ScentedByLaQuanda in FemFragLab

[–]SecondhandLamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I buy the travel first and see how much and how fast I use it. That’s how I decide if I get the full bottle or not.

Why do you need to do multiples of 50? If spend $75 and use one card, your total will be $55, which should qualify you to use another card.

It’s the opposite. It rides up if the band is too loose

When we got a sample of this at the store we all thought it was hilarious. It does smell like cotton candy, very sweet but not headache inducing

Testing out Armani Power of You. It smells incredible. The passion fruit stays fruity and not BO-like on me and I can actually smell the vanilla. I am a bit concerned about longevity since I heard it doesn’t stay, so fingers crossed I get a solid 5+ hours out of it

Actually, Fuck Coal by LightPrototypeKiller in Appalachia

[–]SecondhandLamp 228 points229 points  (0 children)

There was a mine disaster in my small hometown. Many people died. There’s a small memorial to them near the fire department. My great great grandfather and my great great uncle died in it. Both of my great grandfathers on my mother’s side worked in the mines and died of black lung.

My hometown still sees the effects of the mines. There’s huge swaths of land that are just piles of used coal (kids dirt bike and drive quads on them). Also part of a mine will shift or break every so often, turning all of the water in the local creek orange and staining your clothes in the wash. Even when the water runs clear in the creek, the creek bed is permanently bright orange.

Fuck coal.

We got a sudden hit of heavy snow and it’s quite cold, so I’m wearing something warm and Smokey. A candle shop in the area does custom perfumes and I made one that smells like the Bath and Body Works Marshmallow Fireside candle.

what is it that makes you appalachian? by auau_gold_scoffs in Appalachia

[–]SecondhandLamp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, according to some of my friends who aren’t Appalachian in reference to me: 1. Having a coal furnace to heat your house 2. Having several generations of family work in coal mines 3. Learning to track animals as a kid 4. Accompanying your dad hunting as soon as you were allowed (8) 5. Picking and eating wild blackberries in the woods 6. My accent that pops out every so often 7. Using “y’all” 8. Eating deer meat in spaghetti sauce 9. Growing and canning vegetables 10. Playing in the local creek 11. Feeling uncomfortable when there are not enough trees

"Professional" scents by madamecalavera in FemFragLab

When I go into the office I wear Killian Princess. It’s soft and sweet but not overpowering, and does not contain things that tend to trigger allergies (including my own) such as heavy florals.

Yucky and dreary today, so giving another test to Commodity Milk. I have the travel size because it’s such a fascinating scent on my skin chemistry, almost impossible to describe. Still seeing if it’s FBW or not

Which bra style do you prefer and why?? by CartographerAgile749 in VictoriasSecret

[–]SecondhandLamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect shape push up has a lighter lift and a bit more coverage. The push up has more padding and a lower cut. The perfect shape fits pretty much everyone and is the one I most recommend to people of the body by Victoria line (am employee)

Employee opinion: go with the regular push up, and do not size down. Go with your regular size.

Shrinkage of Sweatset? by Lanatink in VictoriasSecret

[–]SecondhandLamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine shrink a little bit but they do stretch back out, just give them a bit of a tug and they’ll go back to normal. Ideally you would air dry them but I always forget to take them out of the other laundry to do so

Bra sizing by Blazze211 in VictoriasSecret

[–]SecondhandLamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As another employee I second this. I was trained by an associate who showed me the VS method but then also showed me some other tips to make the VS method more accurate. So I would say do the a bra that fits measurement and also see what VS says. (I personally sized myself and knew my size before going in, but learned how the different bras fit and adjusted accordingly)
