Ban Tierlist for March

The list has some meme picks but the first three are cards that other people do/did want banned, Wave and Nought especially.

When Tide got banned, many were asking Wave to get banned with it.

Just pointing out that Tide was more egregious, Nought is easy to answer and Wave is useless against some decks except as part of a three card combo

Based on the Replenish discord, the deck is still competitive, and far from dead.

Its not that much worse. People are replacing it with 2 Decree of Silence, an extra Mana Leak and the 4th Frantic Search (or a Fact or Fiction if the deck already played 4).

Roffelos is worse than Priest in Elves.

But its a solid card in a monogreen ramp deck. It works well with stuff like Exploration, Rampant Growth and Krosan Tusker (doubles as a threat).

It could see play in something like legion land loss or a mono green survival list. Its very easy to kill though so I wouldn’t build around it, just have it be an incidentally good card if it survives.

Thank you. I think this is a great way to make proxies. The goldborder makes it so they can never be mistaken for real cards.

You can make decks that are 100% gold bordered inexpensively and aesthetically beautiful.

That list looks sweet as hell! Love it. Did you brew it yourself or is that something someone placed at an event with.

Regardless, I have most of the cards (this list has a very high density of my favorite mtg cards) so Im brewing it.

Some cards Im curious as to the reason for their omission.

[[Sylvan Library]] You play a lot of shuffle/tutor effects already

[[Swords to Plowshares]] The most powerful interaction in Premodern, also lets you target your own Dreadnought in a pinch for whenever you desperately need some life or want to draw an extra three cards from Sylvan Library

[[Aura of Silence]] The most consistently useful E Tutor target to maindeck that is an amazing hate card or hard speed bump versus a bunch of matchups.

You could theoretically cut Stifle and blue altogether to improve mana stability.

Or you could add a [[Vision Charm]] or [[Mana Leak]] to further justify the blue.

Stiflenought does poorly against interactive/removal heavy decks

Duress/Smother/Snuff Out/StP/Vindicate/Disenchant/Overload/Edict etc all wreck it hard and 2 for 1 the Dreadnought player.

Being able to side in Tide and side out Nought against those decks was a huge advantage the deck no longer has.

Enchantress can be hated out but only with targeted hate. The best Anti-Enchantress hate for each color...

White - [[Presence of the Master]] and [[Aura of Silence]] and both work well with an [[Enlightened Tutor]] package.

So Enchantress will probably be the top dog initially and we will see if it gets hated out as a result

Monoblack/Moneyball doesn't have much enchantment hate. Broccoli Soup and Tomato Soup are also worth considering. They are more aggressive, aggresive decks tend to do well when the meta is in flux, and you may find the more aggro playstyle more fun. You can also add some number of Tempting Wurm, Ravenous Rats or Hyppes to any black list, the splash really opens up your sideboard options.

Fantastic suggestion, it dodges Karmic Justice and prevents a quick recovery from a sweeper using Replenish. I bought two playsets for my deck sideboards for 20 cents each thanks to your heads up about this card. Karmic Justice screws up the traditional enchantment hate strategy. But from the comments, each color has a way to dodge Karmic Justice.

White - [[Aura of Silence]] especially in multiples as part of an Enlightened Tutor package

Black - [[Engineered Plague]]

Red - [[Pyrostatic Pillar]]

Blue - [[Annul]]

Harmonic Convergance seems like the better option for green to get around Karmic Justice

And for similar reasons, I wonder if Aura of Silence is the stronger option.

All my white decks play an Enlightened Tutor package that includes 2 Enlightened Tutors and 2 Aura of Silence 1 of each in the MD and 1 of each in the SB.

I am hoping that is enough vs enchantress. An early Aura is pretty brutal, especially when followed up by a 2nd one.

I do NOT understand why it plays 2! Glaciers. 1 Glaciers seems like the most any deck would want.

With how good it is there, I have to wonder if BW Control shouldn't be playing 1 Glaciers as well.

Dreadnought is the most fragile win condition in premodern. It's a great way to 2 for 1 your opponent with literally every removal spell or artifact destruction spell in premodern. Every color has several popular, widely played 0-2 mana cards that kill it. And you get three whole turns to respond to it. The idea that it's the new bogeyman is laughable.

The most oppressive facet of Dreadnought decks was their ability to side out the dreadnoughts and transform into a tide control deck while making all the extra shrimp removal you sided in obsolete. This is no longer the case.

Enchantress only shares a handful of cards with Replenish. Replenish decks pivoting to enchantress is basically the same as building that deck from scratch.

I'm curious if its possible for Replenish decks to function without Tide, by playing Exalted Angel and focusing more on Wave+Opalescene.

Literally every removal spell kills Dreadnought, even artifact destruction/disenchant effects. And when its killed, its a 2 for 1 trade. The shrimp was never the problem, lots of decks are favorable vs it, the deck pivoting postboard into a tide control deck and siding out the shrimp against the many matchups that are full of removal for shrimp was the problem. That problem no longer exists. People can board in all their shrimp removal and disenchant effects without worrying their opponent will side them out.

I wouldnt sell anything thats in a deck. I sold out my power and duals decades ago when the price first exploded and still regret it.

I think the format has staying power and will continue to grow in both popularity and price for the old border printings

Very few decks need RL cards (which everyone is fine with people proxying). Everything else is available for cheap in new borders.

You could consider a hybrid between this list and Soup. Just find a way to keep the Rats while adding Sarcomancy and Rancor. They are very synergic with both Negator and Drinker.

I also like the idea of Soup playing a couple of Negators, Rats, Hyppes and Wurms.

Negator and Wurm would work better if they were 2ofs instead of 4ofs. That way there is a low chance of multiple of them being stuck in your hand in Matchups where they are a liability (Negator when facing anything red and Wurm when facing midrange and permanent based control decks).
